Shonen Jump revealed a special trailer for Naruto Uzumaki’s birthday (October 10) featuring highlights from the manga. The Naruto series is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a new four-episode special anime, which was recently delayed due to quality concerns.
The Naruto franchise is an adaptation of a manga created by Masashi Kishimoto. It made its debut in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in September 1999 and continued serialization for 15 years, concluding in November 2014. The manga consists of a total of 72 volumes. Studio Pierrot brought the story to life with an anime adaptation that premiered in October 2002. Following the original series, a sequel titled Naruto Shippuden was produced, which ran for a total of 500 episodes. The Naruto franchise also gave rise to numerous video games, merchandise, and 11 movies.
Pierrot was also responsible for animating the adaptation of the Boruto sequel manga, initially created by Ukyo Kodachi. Masashi Kishimoto, the author of Naruto, later took the reins of the story, which includes illustrations by Mikio Ikemoto. The Boruto manga began its serialization in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2016 but later moved to V Jump in 2019. The anime adaptation, titled Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, started airing in April 2017 and revolves around the adventures of Naruto's son, Boruto
VIZ Media licensed the original manga and describes the plot as:
