The following contains major spoilers for Thor #27, on sale now from Marvel Comics.

For as long as the God of Thunder has been a part of the Marvel Universe, he has faced off against some of the mightiest, most menacing opponents that the Ten Realms and beyond have to offer. While not even the likes of the Hulk have been able to keep Thor down for long, plenty of various villains have given Asgard’s current All-Father cause for concern. In fact, it is one of Thor’s most obscure enemies who now threatens everything under his purview, not to mention Eddie Brock’s throne as the King in Black.

Following Thor’s battle with the Hulk and his own subsequent Gamma-induced transformation, the God of Thunder and all of Asgard are left reeling from his destruction of the Bifrost. As seen in the pages of Thor #27 (by Al Ewing, Donny Cates, Salvador Larroca, Edgar Delgado, and VC’s Joe Sabino), there is still hope to rebuild, or at least replace the Rainbow Bridge from Asgard to the other realms, although it is a task much easier said than done. This isn’t to say that traversing the universe through other means is difficult, but rather that each method comes with its own set of complications. In the case of otherwise ordinary portals to Limbo, there is always the threat of someone like Darkoth the Death Demon stepping through from the other side.
