Owl House Creator Drops a Haunting New Poster Ahead of Series Finale

The Owl House creator Dana Terrace shared a haunting new poster for the upcoming series finale, “Watching and Dreaming.”

Terrace shared the poster on Twitter, offering a glimpse at what fans can expect from Season 3’s third and final installment, including a dark look at the final appearances of Luz, Eda and King. Captioned “Nothing lasts forever,” the poster was created by Terrace and The Owl House’s art director Andy Garner-Flexner. The series finale is set to premiere on Disney Channel and Disney XD on April 8.

Disney released the trailer for “Watching and Dreaming” in March, teasing what will be a harrowing finale for the fan-favorite animated series. Per the official synopsis for The Owl House’s third and final Season 3 special, “The fate of everything on the Boiling Isles now rests on the shoulders of a human, a cursed witch, and a determined but tiny little King.” While the previous two Season 3 specials, “Thanks to Them” and “For the Future,” ran for 45 minutes, “Watching and Dreaming” will span 55 minutes in total. “Thanks to Them” premiered in October 2022 while “For the Future” premiered in January.

The Owl House Ends With Season 3

The Owl House premiered on Disney Channel in January 2020, with its first season running for 19 episodes. Season 2, however, consisted of 21 episodes overall and was split into two parts, with Season 2A running the first 10 episodes on Disney Channel through Aug. 14, 2021. The Owl House’s final season was shortened to consist of three, extended specials after Disney Channel ordered a shortened third season in May 2021. Terrace previously explained that, to her knowledge, the decision to end The Owl House after Season 3 was made before the end of the show’s first season.

“They just wanted to be done with TOH and this was the perfect chance to do that. Even getting the consolation s3 episodes was difficult, apparently. Hard to say, I wasn’t allowed to be a part of any conversations until I was just… Told. Wasn’t even allowed to present my case,” Terrace said at the time. “Our ratings were GOOD (for a Channel show during the streaming wars lmao) but they were also incomplete. This decision was made, to my knowledge, before [Season 1, Episode 18, “Agony of a Witch”] premiered and WELL before we were on Disney +.”

The Owl House follows teenage Luz Noceda (Sarah-Nicole Robles) who stumbles upon a magic portal that transports her to a magical land known as the Boiling Isles. While there, she befriends and moves in with Eda Clawthorne, a powerful witch voiced by Wendie Malick, and a demon named King, voiced by Alex Hirsch. The three live together in the Owl House, while Eda mentors Luz in becoming a powerful witch in her own right.

The Owl House Seasons 1 and 2, as well as the first two Season 3 specials, are currently streaming on Disney+. The series finale will air on Disney Channel and Disney XD on April 8.
