Tom Hiddleston is looking quite spiffy as the God of Mischief in the first look at Loki Season 2.
Disney+ has released a 30-second video on its Twitter account teasing its upcoming 2023 slate with narration by Hiddleston himself. After showing highly anticipated series like Ahsoka, Secret Invasion and The Mandalorian Season 3, Hiddleston reminds viewers that more Loki is on the way, treating fans to a few seconds of new Season 2 footage featuring Loki decked out in some high-class attire that Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) thinks is “a little over the top.”
Loki Season 2 will pick up after the Disney+ series’ shocking Season 1 finale, which saw the titular character and his female variant Sylvie meet a Kang the Conqueror variant known as He Who Remains. Sylvie ended up killing He Who Remains before sending Loki back to Time Variance Authority headquarters. Despite initially appearing to be the same TVA, the God of Mischief quickly learned that his colleagues B-15 and Mobius no longer recognized him with the finale teasing that a new Kang variant was now in charge of the TVA instead of He Who Remains. Based on the first look footage, it seems that Mobius will remember his mischievous friend and colleague, with the two once again adventuring off to save the multiverse.
Loki Season 2 Finds Its Villain
At this time, Jonathan Majors has not been confirmed to be returning as Kang or one of his many variants in Loki Season 2. However, in his supposed absence, the Disney+ series has cast Kate Dickie, who is best known for playing Lady Lysa Arryn on Game of Thrones from 2011 to 2014, to play a new, undisclosed antagonist in the upcoming season. The Scottish actor marks the latest high-profile addition to the Loki cast after Everything Everywhere All at Once star Ke Huy Quan was revealed to have joined the series back in September 2022. Quan will reportedly play a character called “Oroborus,” who also goes by “B-O,” who is in charge of technology at the Time Variance Authority (TVA).
The rest of the Loki Season 2 cast includes Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Eugene Cordero as Casey/Hunter K-5E, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes and Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, with Rafael Casal cast in an undisclosed role.
Filmmaking duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead directed the majority of Loki Season 2, after impressing Marvel with their work on Moon Knight. All six episodes were written by Eric Martin, who took over as head writer on Loki from Michael Waldron, who remains attached as an executive producer.
Loki Season 1 is available to stream on Disney+, with Season 2 slated to premiere in the summer of 2023.
