Unused Godzilla vs. Kong Monster Looks Like an Even Grosser Xenomorph

An unused design for a creature in the 2021 film Godzilla vs. Kong was just released, and it looks like it belong in one of the Alien movies.

This disturbing creature was tweeted by Ken Barthelmey, Creature & Character Designer for the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel. He has also worked on The Tomorrow War, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Aquaman 2. Barthelmey revealed that the character, which has clawed insect legs, a scaly tail and a mouth that looks similar to that of Stranger Things’ disturbing demogorgon, is called Shimidah.

The Artists of Godzilla vs. Kong

Barthelmey isn’t the only Godzilla vs. Kong artist who has been showcasing their work recently. Another artist on the film, Matt Millard, revealed his interpretation of what the Joker would look like if he was an 80s slasher. Millard explained details of his creepy drawing, stating that it includes “Purple jumpsuit with make shift belts and straps as a failed straight jacket,” and that the character has “the smile of a victim stapled to a fragment on their skull for a mask.”

It won’t be too long before audiences get to see the character designs that made the new Godzilla vs. Kong’s final cut, as the film recently landed a release date of March 15, 2024. The sequel is set to take place directly after the events of 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong.

Little else is known about the newest entry into the MonsterVerse, but a new report revealed that the film’s latest title is Godzilla and Kong. This is an update from a report back in August which hinted that the film’s working title was Origins. A press release from around the time that the film started shooting read “The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”

If a new film isn’t enough MonsterVerse action for some fans, there’s also a Godzilla vs. Kong-inspired Apple TV series, which has the working title Hourglass, currently in the works. The series will allegedly look at the aftermath of Godzilla’s encounter with MUTO in the 2014 film Godzilla.

Godzilla and Kong is currently set to hit the big screen on March 15, 2024.
