A new dawn is coming to the DC Comics universe in 2023.
DC has officially announced its next big storytelling initiative set to span the course of 2023 in the form of Dawn of DC. Described as a “line-wide, multi-event narrative” composed of over 20 individual comic book titles, Dawn of DC is slated to kick off in January with Action Comics #1051 and will continue through the pages of Unstoppable Doom Patrol, multiple Green Lantern titles, and more.

Dawn of DC will follow the events of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths and DC Universe: Lazarus Planet, which have seen many of the world’s greatest heroes battle though the biggest and most devastating chapters of their lives. DC also gave fans a glimpse of the timeline for the event, highlighting how things will line up at least at the outset. This includes a jumping-off point revolving around the Superman family, with Action Comics #1051 marking the start of a new format which will see three stories included in each issue, beginning with writers Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Dan Jurgens (The Death of Superman) and Leah Williams (Amazing Mary Jane).
Dawn of DC will continue in the pages of Superman #1 in February by writer Joshua Williamson (Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths) and artist Jamal Campbell (Naomi) and Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent #1 in March by Tom Taylor (Dark Knights of Steel) and Clayton Henry (Worlds without a Justice League: Green Arrow). These will be followed in March by Dennis Culver (Justice League Incarnate) and Chris Burnham’s (Batman Incorporated) Unstoppable Doom Patrol, with Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow, Green Lantern: Hal Jordan, Green Lantern: John Stewart and Green Arrow all debuting in April. Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Cyborg will follow in May, with June marking both the halfway point of the year and the debuts of Shazam!, The Penguin and Steelworks, the latter of which will see John Henry Irons’ niece Natasha take up his iconic mantle of Steel.
Dawn of DC begins in Jan. 2023 with Action Comics #1051 and will continue throughout the year.
