With just about every streaming service adding anime to their catalogs, there are more ways than ever for fans to watch their favorite series. Though anime-centric sites like Crunchyroll or Funimation are often the go-to for most, Hulu has also become a great place for fans to watch all kinds of anime.

Hulu has just about every genre imaginable, from action to comedy to drama. Among the many anime titles on Hulu, there’s a surprisingly large list of romance anime, covering everything from shojo and slice-of-life to more action-based series. From beloved classics to new favorites, Hulu has many different titles for fans to swoon over.

25 School Rumble

School Rumble is a classic rom-com anime series with just the right balance of comedy and drama. The anime stars a young high school girl named Tenma Tsukamoto, a second year student who’s determined to finally confess her feelings to her crush, Oji Karasuma. However, this proves to be harder than she thinks, as Karasuma is completely oblivious to her advances.

Likewise, school delinquent Kenji Harima is head-over-heels for Tenma, but due to her fixation on Karasuma, his feelings go unnoticed. School Rumble follows Tenma and Kenji’s adventures as they get into all sorts of hilarious antics, all for the sake of love.

24 Nisekoi

Nisekoi is a unique rom-com series that follows Raku Ichijo, a high school student who just so happens to be heir to one of the city’s most fearsome yakuza groups. Despite his status, he’s remained relatively distant from the family business. That is, until they get involved with a neighboring gang.

Suddenly, Raku finds his life turned upside down as he’s forced to pretend to be in a relationship with the gang leader’s daughter, the beautiful Chitoge Kirisaki. This is no easy task though, as the two absolutely can’t stand each other, but if they want to maintain peace among the gangs, they’ll have to find a way to tolerate each other and keep up their false romance.

23 Spice And Wolf

While most romance anime focus on young love, some of the best stories are centered around adult relationships. One of the greatest examples of adult romance in anime is Spice and Wolf. This fantasy adventure series centers around the journey of a very unlikely pair. After a chance encounter, a young traveling merchant named Kraft Lawrence comes across Holo, a powerful wolf deity who was once revered by everyone, but has since been forgotten and seen as only a myth.

With no reason to stay among the villagers, Holo starts anew as Kraft’s business partner, and the duo head north together. Although they begin their journey as nothing more than colleagues, they soon find themselves becoming closer than they ever imagined possible.

22 Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai

Given its bizarre title, it’s pretty hard to gauge Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai at first. The anime is actually one of the best romance anime to come out in recent years. The story centers around Mai Sakurajima, a mysterious high school girl who’s virtually invisible to the world, thanks to a strange affliction known as Puberty Syndrome. There is one person who can still see her — a fellow classmate named Sakuta Azusagawa.

After Sakuta catches sight of Mai wandering the school in a bunny girl suit, he confronts her and soon discovers her ailment. Together, they try to work through the cause of Mai’s predicament, facing the trauma of her past and the many problems her childhood has created.

21 Sailor Moon

5 Seasons, 200 Episodes

To this day, Sailor Moon is one of the greatest anime love stories ever told and still influences modern titles even after so many decades. Protagonist Usagi Tsukino and her star-crossed lover Mamoru Chiba are one of the most iconic anime couples of all time.

While many Moonies will agree that the newest adaptation of the series better portrays their romance, there’s just no beating the original ’90s version. Though it has its flaws, the old-school Sailor Moon series has a special place in many anime fans’ hearts, as does this iconic duo. There’s no denying the importance of this classic romance or its impact on anime over the years, and it’s well worth checking out for those who have yet to see it.

Though it’s been widely overlooked by fans since its release in 2020, Arte is a great new romance series featuring a unique premise. Arte stars a young aristocratic girl named Arte, who dreams of becoming an artist.

Due to the expectations of her upperclass family, Arte’s dreams seem like they’ll never become reality. That is, until she casts her old life and status aside and works to become an artist’s apprentice. Now on her own and making her way in the world, Arte learns about life, love, and the joy of painting.

Ranma 1/2 is one of acclaimed mangaka Rumiko Takahashi’s most celebrated works. Even decades after its completion, it’s still adored by fans to this day. The story follows Ranma Saotome, a young martial artist whose life changes forever after he falls into a cursed spring.

Whenever Ranma touches cold water, he transforms into a girl, and the only way he can return to his former self is with hot water. While this predicament is hard enough, the situation only gets more complicated after Ranma is arranged to marry Akane Tendo. Plastic Memories mixes romance and sci-fi in a heartbreaking love story like no other. The series takes place in a futuristic world where humans live among beings known as Giftia, highly advanced androids who look and sound just like any other humans.

That said, there’s one very big difference between the two — Giftia have incredibly short life spans. The story’s protagonist, Tsukasa Mizugaki, finds his life changed forever after he meets Isla, a beautiful Giftia who is slowly reaching the end of her life. Despite it all, Tsukasa and Isla find themselves falling in love, and the two must come to terms with their feelings before her time is finally up.

Say I Love You is a favorite among shojo fans and is considered a must-watch series for anyone who loves a good romance. This classic love story follows Mei Tachibana, a distant and reserved young girl who goes out of her way to avoid her classmates, for fear of being hurt by those she cares for.

A chance encounter with Yamato Kurosawa forces Mei to come out of her shell in ways she never has before. As she slowly opens up, Mei’s feelings for Yamato grow and the two set off on a whirlwind romance neither could have ever predicted.

There are plenty of rom-com series available on Hulu, but few are as adorable as Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun. This popular anime follows the adventures of Chiyo Sakura and her big-time crush, Umetarou Nozaki. When Chiyo finally finds the courage to tell him how she feels, Nozaki completely misunderstands the situation and takes her on as an assistant instead.

Chiyo is determined to work hard in her new position, in hopes that Nozaki will finally notice her and realize her feelings, but it won’t be easy, as the stoic mangaka seems to be surprisingly dense when it comes to romance.

13 Clannad

To this day, fans agree that Clannad is one of the saddest anime series of all time. The story follows protagonist Tomoya Okazaki, a young delinquent with no aspirations who believes he’ll never amount to anything. That all changes one fateful day after Tomoya meets Nagisa Furukawa, a timid and soft-spoken girl who catches Tomoya’s eye.

As he gets closer to her, Tomoya slowly begins to find purpose in his life and changes himself for the better. Together, Nagisa and Tomoya both grow as individuals and learn some of life’s toughest lessons.

NANA is a beloved shojo classic featuring the lives of two girls, Nana Osaki and Nana Komatsu. Though they share the same name, they couldn’t be any more different from each other. Nevertheless, these heroines form a strong friendship, bonding over their struggles with life, love, and heartbreak.

Unlike most romance anime out there, NANA portrays a more realistic version of love and romance. It shows the ugly side of romance, reminding viewers that love isn’t always filled with sunshine and rainbows. While this kind of romance story may not be for everyone, it’s a very refreshing take on a genre that gets pretty repetitive with its tropes.

11 Inuyasha

Inuyasha is a 2000s classic centering around Kagome Higurashi’s journey through feudal Japan, where she meets a crass young half-demon named Inuyasha. akeo’s luck changes after a fateful encounter with the petite and beautiful Rinko Yamato. Just like that, it’s love at first sight for them both. From there, My Love Story!! centers around the two as they slowly develop their relationship and get to know each other. Takeo and Rinko are one of anime’s most adorable couples, and their love story is nothing short of wholesome.

9 Maid Sama!

Shojo has many incredible and beloved titles, but few are as popular as Maid Sama!. This iconic classic is a staple of the genre and a must-watch for any and all fans of romance. The story follows Misaki Ayuzawa, the strong and independent student council president with a reputation for being strict, to the point where she’s been dubbed the “Demon President” by the boys in her class.

This demon president finds her life turned upside down when Takumi Usui, the most popular boy in school, discovers her after-school gig at a maid café. Now to keep her secret safe, she’s at Usui’s mercy, leading to all sorts of hilarious situations as the two are forced together by fate.

Kamisama Kiss is yet another iconic romance series found on Hulu. The anime features Nanami Momozono, a young high school student who becomes the new land god of a mysterious shrine. Here, Nanami meets a host of otherworldly spirits, including the beautiful and mysterious Tomoe.

Nanami and Tomoe don’t exactly get along at first, with the fox spirit refusing to accept her as the new land god, but they slowly start to see each other in a new light as they work together and form a spiritual bond, all while love blossoms between them.

7 Snow White With The Red Hair

Snow White with the Red Hair tells the story of Shirayuki, a beautiful and cheerful young girl with bright red hair who works as an apothecary in the country of Tanbarun. But after the prince of the land determines to make her his concubine, Shirayuki flees to start a new life, free from his grasp.

It’s here that Shirayuki meets Zen, the prince of Clarines, and becomes a herbalist in his country. Together, the two form a strong bond and work to help each other achieve their goals, slowly falling in love along the way. Snow White with the Red Hair is both a love story and a tale of freedom as Shirayuki works for a better life.

6 Kimi Ni Todoke

Kimi ni Todoke is one of the most beloved anime romances, all thanks to the sweet and wholesome relationship between protagonist Sawako Kuronuma and Shouta Kazehaya. The story begins with shy and quiet Sawako, all alone at school as usual. No one dares to befriend her, finding her creepy and unapproachable, especially due to her resemblance to a well-known horror character.
