Crunchyroll is branded as the official source of anime, meaning it should not come as a surprise the site has access to some of the most anticipated movies fans are itching to watch. It is also a great way to support the original creators in Japan.

Lady Death is for more mature viewers due to gore and disturbing content. However, it is a great horror movie full of action and freighting imagery. Fans of horror anime are sure to love Lady Death.

32 Fate/Grand Order: First Order

Fate/Grand Order: First Order is another intriguing addition to the Fate franchise. After noticing that humanity will end in 2017, the mysterious Chaldea Security Organization sends members to the city of Fuyuki to find and quash the inciting event. Tasked with discovering and possibly destroying Fuyuki, the investigators come into contact with the fight for the Holy Grail.

The Fate franchise’s tradition of gorgeous animation and impressive action continues in this movie. With time travel and international tension, this film proves that the Holy Grail Wars have a lot of sway in the fate of humanity.

31 Blackfox

Blackfox debuted on Crunchyroll in the Fall of 2019. The story follows Rikka Isuragi, a young girl who happens to be a descendant of ninjas. She is expected to be like her grandmother, one of the best and most honored ninjas in the land.

However, Rikka does not wish to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps. Instead, she aspires to be like her scientist father. But when her home is attacked on her sixteenth birthday and her father is fatally wounded, Rikka vows to get revenge as well as steal back the research that was stolen. This prompts her to be named the vengeful ninja, “Black Fox”.

30 ODD TAXI: In The Woods

Odd Taxi: In the Woods is a retooling of the popular 2021 series, Odd Taxi. Both projects feature Hiroshi Odokawa and his encounters with clients he has in his time as a taxi driver. Fans later discover that all the clients — and even Odokawa himself — are somehow connected to the mysterious disappearance of a young girl.

The movie follows most of the same events as the series but adds a resolution to the final conflict seen in the show. Odd Taxi: In the Woods is a quirky and mysterious film that shows everyone has secrets.

29 Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion I – Initiation

Code Geass: Lelouch of The Rebellion I: Initiation retells the beginning of the popular Code Geass anime in movie form. Lelouch vi Britannia is a prince who is cast off by his father to love in Japan. Britainnia eventually takes control over Japan, which leads Lelouch to become a masked vigilante against Britannia known as Zero.

Though this film is a recap of the first Code Geass season, there are a few changes that make this film unique. Fans of the series still have something to look forward to in this cinematic retelling of Lelouch’s rise to rebellion.

27 A Wind Named Amnesia

A Wind Named Amnesia is a 1990s post-apocalyptic anime film based on the novel of the same name by Hideyuki Kikuchi. The novel is published by Dark Horse in English. Wataru, a survivor of the apocalypse, regains his humanity by learning from a man named Johnny. Before he died, Johnny told Wataru to travel the world. With nowhere else to go, Wataru decides to do as Johnny said along with Sophia, a mysterious woman who saves him. The pair then travel to New York City.

26 Bayonetta: Bloody Fate

Bayonetta: Bloody Fate is an anime movie based on the beloved video game. After awakening from a lake, Bayonetta sets out on a journey to discover her true identity. She meets many foes along the way but deals with them handily using her indomitable power.

This film is full of action and is a fun romp for fans of the Bayonetta games. Although a few changes were made to the story, the film is not made worse for it. Bayonetta remains true to her no-nonsense nature – looking stylish as she takes down Ghosts and searches for who she is.

Goblin Slayer: Goblin’s Crown continues the story of the popular Goblin Slayer anime. The movie centers on the titular character and his entourage as they are requested to find a missing swordsman by the Snow Maiden. Origin: Spirits of the Past follows a boy named Agito. As one of the people living in Neutral City, he believes the sentient trees that have taken over much of the inhabitable planet should be left alone. However, when he gets in trouble with some of the trees, he accidentally awakens a cryogenically frozen woman named Toola who carries a special device called a Raban that could set the world back to the way it was before the forest. Unfortunately, others seek its power, and Toola – and eventually Agito – are confronted by an old scientist named Shunack who wants to use the Raban.

Agito is eventually sent into another plane and comes to understand the trees. The whole situation is wrapped up by the end, helping the trees and Neutral City get along. This movie is a thought-provoking film with a lot of action that will entice any fan looking for a movie with tight action and smart characters.

Starlight Promises is a mystical movie about a festival in the mountains of Japan. Shoma Mihara is invited to the festival by his friend, Atsushi, who he has not seen since high school began. This movie is a powerful film that takes an unexpected turn. Viewers are in for a psychological ride as Shoma remembers the truth. Viewers who love drama and action are sure to enjoy Starlight Promises.

20 Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade

Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade is set in an alternate universe version of the 1950s. The story focuses on Kazuki Fuse, a member of Kerberos Panzer Corps. The Corps participates in counterterrorism operations – with Fuse as one of the lesser members.

Unfortunately, Fuse’s world gets turned upside down when he fails to terminate a young terrorist who blows herself up instead. Fuse is blamed for the incident as it puts a black mark on the Corps. However, he befriends a woman named Kei who claims to be the terrorist’s sister. This sets a chaotic turn of events in motion that has Fuse spinning out of control. Jin Roh is bizarre, but compelling.

19 Maquia: When The Promised Flower Blooms

Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms follows a being – an Ioth named Maquia. After her people are decimated, and she is inadvertently kidnapped, Maquia then comes across an orphaned baby boy whom she decides to raise as her own. The two go through many trials as they work toward saving the kingdom of Mezarte, and Maquia’s friend, Leilia from the palace.

Since Maquia is an Iorph, she ages slowly, making her appear closer in age to her young son with each passing year. Yet, even when Maquia is with him on his deathbed, she remarks that she still loved being his mother, even though she knew she would lose him one day. This movie is a moving piece that highlights the pain of loss set against a military invasion over many years.

When Juana del Moral needs a way to get to her future husband, her family hires mercenary pilot Charles Karino to take her there. Unfortunately, the way is perilous, as the two neighboring countries are at war with each other.

Along their journey, Juana and Charles begin to form an attachment, as the stress of the surrounding chaos and the long flight helps them to open up. Koroku Inumura’s The Princess and the Pilot is a poignant and harrowing tale about two people brought together by circumstance who come to understand each other.

17 The Ancient Magus Bride: The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm

The Ancient Magus Bride: The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm is technically a three-part OVA that is essentially a film. The story follows the Wild Hunt – a group of fey riders who make ruin in their wake so that new life can spring anew. Unfortunately, they lose their guide when lightning strikes their mountain. The Hunt then wanders aimlessly, unable to stay in formation, and begins to cause havoc wherever they go.

Luckily, a young boy named Gabriel discovers the missing guide and helps the knight find his way back to the Wild Hunt. This movie is full of magic and danger that fans of The Ancient Magus’ Bride will love.

16 Captain Harlock: Arcadia Of My Youth

Captain Harlock: Arcadia of My Youth is a 1982 film that retells the origins of Captain Harlock. Leiji Matsumoto created the character as well as other notable series such as Space Battleship Yamato and Galaxy Express 999.

The plot follows Captain Harlock, a man who was blacklisted because he rebelled against the government by not giving up hope against invaders. Throughout the film, it shows his fight against Earth’s oppressors, the Mazone, who wish to reclaim Earth back when they used to rule over it in ancient times. 15 Psycho-Pass: The Movie

14 King Of Thorn

This movie is a chilling dystopian ride that will have audiences on the edge of their seats. Plus, not everything is as it seems about the virus and the world around the seven survivors. This psychological horror is full of twists and turns that fans of survival anime will love.
