Emma’s Introduction To The Sano Family
Beginning on a somber note, the episode commenced with a flashback to the day Karen Kurokawa abandoned Emma at the Sano household, promising to return once her business was done. Even then, Emma sensed the emptiness in her mother’s words, realizing that she had no intention of coming back. At first, Emma had a hard time adjusting to her new surroundings, even as the Sano siblings’ grandfather told Manjiro and Shinichiro to treat her as family.
After class at the Sano Dojo one day, Manjiro and his childhood friend Keisuke Baji — who also trained at the dojo — learned of Emma’s fear that her mother hated her, as she broke down sobbing. Later on, Manjiro overheard a conversation between Shinichiro and his grandfather, where the pair expressed their concerns over Emma, wishing that they could make her smile.
In a bid to make her feel more at home, Manjiro offered to spar with Emma, and stated that he would go by the name “Mikey” from then on, so that her name would not seem as odd next to his. Moved by his kindness, Emma shed tears of joy, as her sense of loneliness disappeared for the first time in her life. Now, with the support of Mikey, his grandfather, and Draken, she reflected that she had never felt alone since that day.
The Tokyo Manji Gang In Disarray
The scene shifted to a meeting between Mikey and members of Toman’s First Division. Inui came forward to share that there was a strong likelihood of Tenjiku making their move on February 22 — the very next day — as it was the anniversary of the Black Dragons’ founding. Mikey and Takemichi then affirmed the First Division’s mission to recover Hajime Kokonoi. Immediately after this, at an emergency meeting of all Toman members, Draken outlined the full situation, noting that Tenjiku would likely fight unfairly.

Just then, Hakkai chimed in, saying that Toman should meet them at their level. He went on to share that Second Division Captain Takashi Mitsuya, and Fourth Division Captain Nahoya Kawata (Smiley), were both in the hospital, after being assaulted by Tenjiku members riding on bikes. Shocked by this news, Takemichi realized that most of Toman’s Captains were now out of comission, as Hakkai rallied the troops to stoop to Tenjiku’s level in order to obtain victory.
At that moment, Ryohei Hayashi — better known as Peh-yan — revved his bike and interjected, stating that victory was not worth fighting in a way that would taint Mikey’s honor. Mikey then proceeded to declare that none of the Captains would be present for the fight against Tenjiku, but that did not matter, as he would take on their burden by himself. Moved by his words, Toman’s ranks regained their resolve and issued a rallying cry, as they vowed to crush Tenjiku.
A Fateful Gathering At Shinichiro’s Grave
The following day, Inui and Takemichi went to the Sano family grave to pay their respects to Shinichiro, and commemorate Takemichi’s ascension as the leader of the Eleventh Generation Black Dragons. Just as Takemichi swore to serve the gang well, Izana made an appearance at the scene, under the pretext of honoring his adoptive older brother. Consumed by rage, Inui proceeded to grab Izana by his collar and interrogated him about his plans with Kokonoi.
Izana responded calmly, noting that he was not planning on doing anything, and that Inui’s opinion meant nothing to him since Kokonoi was now part of Tenjiku. Right before Inui punched Izana, Mikey arrived to stop him with Emma in tow. Toman’s leader then asked Takemichi to take Emma somewhere safe, as he discussed the terms of Toman’s fight against Tenjiku.

Simultaneously, in another part of town, Kisaki picked up a metal baseball bat and got on to a motorcycle that Yasuhiro Muto was riding. As Muto remarked that the former seldom got his hands dirty, Kisaki responded by saying that he could not entrust this duty to anyone else. Back at the graveyard, Izana asked Mikey if they could settle everything with a battle at Yokohama’s Seventh Pier later that night.
Viewing the scene from a distance, Emma noted that Mikey and Izana would be fighting soon. At the same time, she noted that despite how he does not show any vulnerability in front of Toman’s members, Mikey was still a weak little boy at heart. She then told Takemichi that as his sister, she would always be there to support Mikey if he was ever overwhelmed by the pressure of leading Toman.
Losing What He Treasured Most
Hearing all this, Takemichi wondered how Mikey could have lost his way in the future, especially with Emma by his side. As a grave realization dawned on him, the scene moved to a meeting of Tenjiku’s higher ranks. Continuing a conversation in an earlier scene from the episode, Kisaki and Izana stood side by side, as Kakucho begged Izana to reconsider his decision, stating that he could not condone murder. In response, Izana stated that it was the only way to crush Toman.
Frustrated by this response, Kakucho left, as Kisaki advised Izana to act as Mikey’s emotional support from that moment onwards. With this, Kisaki mentally celebrated his victory, as he was now just one step away from building his own Toman. Back at the graveyard, Emma and Takemichi heard the sound of an approaching bike, as Kisaki yelled and brandished his bat. Startled by this, Takemichi could only stand frozen as Kisaki rode past him and hit Emma across the head, fatally injuring her.
Turning around, Takemichi could only look in horror as he saw Emma lying bloodied and motionless on the road. Mikey soon arrived and stood equally shocked, as Takemichi explained the situation to him. Deciding to carry Emma on his back to a nearby hospital, Mikey picked up his sister and began walking, as Takemichi prayed for her safety. For a moment, Emma regained consciousness and spoke to Mikey, asking her to tell Draken that she loved him.
Next, she turned to Takemichi and asked him to take care of Mikey for her, before breathing her last. Visibly shocked at Emma’s death, Mikey struggled to talk to her, recounting his dream of her marrying Draken and having a child together. With tears welling up in his eyes, Mikey began to paint a picture of a future that would never be, where Takemichi, Draken, Mikey, Mitsuya, and Emma would relive their adolescent antics as adults.
In essence, this episode marked a point of no return, where Mikey has now lost one of the few people he can call family, as a consequence of Kisaki’s deplorable scheming. It further served to highlight how despicable a character Kisaki is, as it seems as if he will resort to any sort of vile act to get what he wants. This raises the stakes of the final showdown with Tenjiku, as Toman may now have to manage without its talismanic leader, who is reeling from the grief of losing his younger sister.
