This week saw the return of The Misfit of Demon King Academy. Fans couldn't wait to get their hands on more content after the first season ended in 2020. Things looked bleak when the manga for the series was canceled just before its artist died, but thankfully, a second season was already confirmed, so fans only had to wait. Fortunately, it all paid off this week.

Anos Voldigoad, the reincarnated Demon King of Tyranny, is the main character of The Misfit of Demon King Academy. He spent the majority of the first season establishing his identity to others. The main cause of the confusion was a complicated plan by the reincarnated hero, who wanted to sacrifice himself in place of Anos in order to protect him from the enmity of humanity while posing as the fictitious Demon King of Tyranny, Avos Dilhevia. Fortunately, Anos was able to stop the humans and save Lay's life, putting an apparent happy conclusion to the first season.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem as though Anos and his friends will be able to enjoy this relative peace for long. At the start of this episode, it is revealed that the new homeroom teacher of Anos' class, Erdomaid DittiJohn, was one of the "Four Evil Royals," a group of Demons that lived 2,000 years ago alongside the Demon King and were second only to him. Their new teacher though is soon revealed to be an evil god from 2,000 years ago who took over the body of Erdomaid, specifically to try and kill Anos.

If this were any other series, it would probably be a much more dangerous situation, especially since the god who has possessed Erdomaid is Heavenly Father God NousGallia, the father of all gods. Thankfully though, in this series, there is rarely anyone capable of standing up to Anos, which just so happens to be the case in this instance too. In a matter of moments, Anos kills the god and brings him back to life with only a fraction of his power in order to make sure NousGallia's power won't destroy anything in the wake of his death. Then, surprisingly (and hilariously), class resumes as normal.

Even though it might seem like the threat has passed, it turns out that homeroom is really just the beginning of a much larger scheme. To kill the Demon King of Tyranny, NousGallia and the Four Evil Royals have united in an alliance. They have begun pursuing and attacking Anos' friends in order to accomplish this goal, though it's possible that this is only a small portion of their overall strategy. In this episode, Anos learns that a divine vessel known as a Child of God will soon appear at the Demon King Academy. Anos will be destroyed by this new Child of God, according to NousGallia, and one of Erdomaid's men speculates that it might even be one of Anos' friends.

As of right now, there is no telling who this Child of God might be or even what their allegiances are. How this might relate to the fake Demon King of Tyranny introduced in a flashback from 2,000 years ago, Anoshu Polticoal, is also unknown. However, considering how important the Demon King's identity was last season and the Season 2 premiere's total focus on this Child of God, it's hard to imagine that they aren't connected in some way. Hopefully, Episode 2 will reveal at least some answers.
