The Ancient Magus‘ Bride is based on a manga by Kore Yamazaki that first began publication in 2013’s Monthly Comic Blade of Mag Garden before switching to Monthly Comic Garden in 2014’s issue. 24 episodes of a WIT Studio adaptation as an anime were broadcast in 2017. The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Those Awaiting a Star OVA, which ran from 2016 to 2017 with a total of 3 episodes, served as the series’ prequel before the launch.
In 2021, a new OAD (original disc animation) series named The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm debuted. Despite the fact that it focuses on new characters, the original cast is still present. Kazuaki Terasawa directed the three-part series, which was produced by Studio Kafka. All of the episodes were packaged with special edition manga volumes, with the third and last one due on September 9th, with the 18th Volume.
