Rimuru Tempest from That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime might be one of the strongest isekai protagonists in all anime. Rimuru has an abnormal number of skills and abilities that make them a force to be reckoned with, no matter who they’re against.
Over just two seasons of That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime, Rimuru has amassed several skills that would make any fan trying to keep up dizzy. This only further proved to be the case after they became a demon lord, adding ultimate skills and a ton of random skills from the citizens of his town. When looking at how strong Rimuru Tempest is, it’s best to understand his intrinsic and ultimate skills. Only then can one know how they all work together to make Rimuru, Rimuru.
Base Intrinsic Skills
Intrinsic skills in the series are inherent to specific creatures and monsters. Essentially, these skills are the core of the character in question.
Absorb, Dissolve, and Self-Regeneration
Absorb, dissolve, and self-regeneration are the intrinsic abilities Rimuru is given as a slime. All three of these skills serve as the bedrock for his unique skills, which were absorbed into the ultimate skills that they now possess. The skills are pretty self-explanatory.
Absorb allows Rimuru to absorb anything and store it in his stomach for analysis. The Dissolve skill discards and recycles any useless material that is absorbed. Self-regeneration allows Rimuru to regenerate any lost body part. The important thing to note about these skills is their application to Rimuru’s unique/ultimate skills.
Absorb and Dissolve are the basis of Rimuru’s predation, analysis, and mimicry skills, which were absorbed into the gluttony unique skill and later the Beelzebuth ultimate skill. Self-regeneration evolved into their demon slime intrinsic ability of infinite regeneration.
Demon Slime Intrinsic Skills
When Rimuru became a demon lord, they also gained new intrinsic skills. Becoming a demon slime means that Rimuru has become an altogether different being. Many of the demon slime intrinsic skills were automatically absorbed into the ultimate skill, Uriel, so the ones listed are the ones that still remain as their own skill.
Universal Thread
Universal Thread is an evolution of the sticky-steel thread Rimuru used to defeat Ifrit. The threads are now resistant to everything Rimuru is resistant to (which is almost everything). They can also still be controlled telepathically.
Infinite Regeneration
Vastly superior to self-regeneration and ultra-speed regeneration, this skill allows Rimuru to regenerate not only their body but also their spiritual body, astral body, and soul. This ability also can’t be interfered with or disabled, allowing anyone with the ability to regenerate no matter the situation, as long as they have enough energy.
Enhanced Body Double
This skill allows Rimuru to create a stronger and more durable body double.
Demon Lord’s Haki
No, One Piece fans, not that haki. This skill is an evolution of the skills Haki and Magical Aura that allows Rimuru to exert massive spiritual pressure around them. If anyone around Rimuru is too weak to handle the haki while they are using the skill, that weak person or creature could die immediately solely from the pressure exuded.
Ultimate Skills
Rimuru’s ultimate skills are the amalgamation of all they have gained throughout the story and some new upgrades thanks to becoming a demon lord.
Raphael, Lord of Wisdom
The best way to view Raphael is as a supercomputer or a generative AI within Rimuru. It evolved from the unique skill of Wise One by sacrificing Degenerate. While Raphael sacrificed Degenerate, it has the same sub-skill in Synthesize/Separate.
The skill works as a different brain from Rimuru, allowing them to do parallel processing with accelerated thinking speed and complete understanding and analysis. Raphael could also predict incoming attacks through trails of light.
Beelzebuth, Lord of Gluttony
Beelzebuth evolved from the unique skill Gluttony. It cost Rimuru the skill of merciless, but it was replaced by a stronger version of the same skill in Beelzebuth’s sub-skill of soul consumption. As the name suggests, this sub-skill allows Rimuru to consume the soul of his target and kill them anytime.
Beelzebuth also has predation, corrosion, and stomach. The only difference is that they are all significantly upgraded. The stomach skill was boosted so significantly that Rimuru could easily release Veldora.
Veldora, Lord of Storms
This one is relatively simple compared to the other ultimate skills. Once Rimuru released Veldora, they remained with Veldora’s skills, thanks to his soul still being within them. The ultimate skill of Veldora allows Rimuru complete access to storm magic, just as Veldora himself does. It also allows Rimuru to summon Veldora in his dragon or human form at any time. Lastly, if Veldora dies, Rimuru can create him anew with this skill.
Uriel, Lord of Vows
Of Rimuru’s ultimate skills, this one might be the most broken. In sum, this skill allows Rimuru complete control over anything he understands. Raphael manages Uriel, and Raphael grants Rimuru complete understanding through complete analysis at super speed, allowing Rimuru to manipulate all matter around them and in them. On top of that, it allows Rimuru to teleport just by thinking of the place they wish to go to.
Since this skill evolved from Infinity Prison (the prison that used to hold Veldora), it also upgrades Rimuru’s barrier skills in every imaginable way by granting them the Universal Barrier. Rimuru completely manipulates this barrier, which can become anything they desire.
Rimuru Tempest is already one of the most overpowered characters in anime, and that statement will only gain validity with the new season that just started. Rimuru’s power is ever-increasing, and the fandom can’t wait to see how strong the protagonist is by the end.
