Battles, eerie creatures, and unexpected moments are all part of every season of Stranger Things, but the Netflix series is also known for its well-written characters. Time and time again, no matter how thrilling some of the scenes and surprises are, fans keep coming back for the character interactions. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and her friends have shown that they are always keeping an eye out for each other, even when their lives are hanging in the balance.
While every character on the popular show is interesting, one person in particular needs to play a larger role in Stranger Things season 5. Although they’ve been a big part of the action in the past, they could do even more.
How Stranger Things Season 5 Can Use This Character More
When fans got to see a sneak peek at Stranger Things season 5 in July 2024, they saw Lucas Sinclair’s (Caleb McLaughlin) younger sister Erica Sinclair (Priah Ferguson) with new cast member Jake Connelly, according to Variety. Considering how smart, funny, and wise beyond her years she is, Erica should be given more screen time in Stranger Things season 5. While there are many solid characters in season 4, Erica stands out, and her character needs her own storyline.
In Stranger Things season 5, Erica should save Hawkins from the Upside Down and come up with the plan to beat Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). In the past, Erica saved the day and used her intelligence and perception to help the other characters. Lucas realized that she was more helpful than he thought, although they still have a typical sibling relationship, and he has begrudgingly allowed her to become part of his friend group at times. The new season can build on this foundation and use this fan-favorite character in more significant ways. It would be great to see Erica take charge, especially since she has shown her confidence and belief in herself before.
Erica should also interact with some characters who she hasn’t previously. While fans want answers to their Upside Down queries, they also enjoy the different people who connect with each other. Since one new character was shown with Erica in the Stranger Things season 5 promo, it would make sense if they became friends and teamed up. This would allow Erica to continue being the self-assured leader she has always been since she could explain to them what’s been going on in Hawkins.
What Are Some Movies And TV Shows That Priah Ferguson Has Starred In?
- one episode of Atlanta (2016)
- one episode of Daytime Divas (2017)
- The Oath (2018)
- The Curse of Bridge Hollow (2022)
- Hamster & Gretel (2022)
- My Dad the Bounty Hunter (2023)
Finally, Erica should have a peaceful ending like Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) in Stranger Things season 5. Maybe Erica will find her own group of friends who she has fun with and who hopefully don’t find themselves in the Upside Down or fighting Vecna ever again. It would be satisfying to see this character in a good place since she’s so kind-hearted and loyal.
What Happened To This Character In Previous Stranger Things Seasons?
Ever since Erica Sinclair was first shown in Stranger Things season 2, she is an important character whose interactions with the other characters perfectly balance humor with more serious subjects. For example, in season 2, she helps the others see what’s underneath the Starcourt Mall as long as Scoops Ahoy gives her all the ice cream she wants for the rest of her life. While a lot of new characters shouldn’t be in Stranger Things season 5, Erica’s arc has been perfect.
Erica plays a big role in Stranger Things season 4 by helping beat Vecna at the Creel mansion. Before that, Erica joins the Hellfire Club, where she has some hilarious scenes with Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn). While Eddie doesn’t need to return, their dynamic was compelling since Eddie had trouble admitting that these younger kids could be as smart and cool as him. Erica shows Eddie that he shouldn’t make such quick decisions about people and that he needs to ask for help.
Every season of Stranger Things has great quotes, and Erica is known for her particularly unforgettable ones. As she says in one scene to the others, showing her confidence:
“You can’t spell America without Erica.”
One of Erica’s most memorable quotes is when she asks for free ice cream. If Erica has a bigger role in Stranger Things season 5, hopefully she’ll have even more funny quotes. She says:
“You know what I love most about this country? Capitalism … and it seems to me, my ability to fit into that little vent is very, very valuable to you all. So you want my help? This USS Butterscotch
better be the first of many. And I’m talking free ice cream for life.”
