Star Wars: The Bad Batch Theory Suggests Huge Reveal For Omega

Highlights

  • Omega in Star Wars: The Bad Batch may be more than just a clone, possibly the source of enhanced abilities in Clone Force 99.
  • Reddit user YodaFishFN2187 suggests that Omega is the “Holy Mother” of the team, with traits similar to each member of Clone Force 99.
  • Evidence supports the theory that Omega’s genetics were isolated to create clones with heightened abilities, setting up potential big reveals.

One Star Wars fan thinks they’ve figured out exactly who Omega is in the animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Viewers were already shocked to learn she’s actually a female clone, but now, a new theory suggests that she’s so much more.

The clone army in Star Wars is comprised entirely of genetic replicas made from the DNA of bounty hunter Jango Fett. The thing is, once Jango died via acute head separation at the hands of Mace Windu, the cloning facility on Kamino lost its source of material to continue creating clones. Many fans assumed this was the direct cause of certain mutations among the troopers, including the ones that created Clone Force 99 (the titular team of “defective” clones in The Bad Batch). But one particularly observant fan thinks there’s much more to it.

Reddit user YodaFishFN2187 recently posted an elaborate and well-thought-out theory on the Star Wars Speculation subreddit suggesting that Omega is more than just the newest member of Clone Force 99. They claim that the entire team (sans Echo, who joined later) might be cloned directly from her rather than from Jango Fett. Referring to her as their “Holy Mother,” the idea is that Omega is the entire reason Clone Force 99 is comprised of “enhanced” members. There’s plenty of evidence to back it up, as well.

Perhaps the main material supporting this theory is that Omega seems to possess, to an extent, the same characteristics as each member of the team. She has an innate talent with blasters just like Crosshair, as seen in an early episode of The Bad Batch when she managed to use one expertly without having ever picked it up before. Her senses appear to be heightened like Hunter, a trait some viewers have interpreted as her being Force-sensitive. Finally, she’s got a highly intelligent and strategic mind like Tech, evidenced by her near effortless card swindling in a recent episode. The only one missing is the strength of Wrecker, though there’s still plenty of time for a big reveal in that regard. 3 out of 4 still seems like something worth noting.

With all this, the theory is that the Kaminoans at the cloning facility took note of these traits in Omega and isolated them, specifically creating clones with heightened abilities. Viewers will note that a recent Star Wars: The Bad Batch episode confirmed she’s older than the rest of the team despite appearing younger. Like Boba Fett, Omega is a largely unaltered clone of Jango, albeit a different gender. Those lack of alterations include the accelerated aging that regular clones experience. But it might also include certain anomalies such as heightened abilities, given how her genetics were just allowed to develop on their own.

Between all these factors and the presence of Emerie, another female clone who seems to have gone through accelerated aging and likely other alterations, it’s certainly a solid theory. Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3 will most definitely either confirm or deny the claim before it’s done, so now all that’s left to do is wait. But now the wait is all the more interesting.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch drops new episodes every Wednesday on Disney Plus.
