It’s been a long two days, and for Yor in particular, it’s a well-deserved rest after the non-stop fighting she had to go through last night. It’s an incredibly welcome episode and a good end to the Cruise Adventure Arc.

Spy x Family is generally known for its wholesomeness, but this week’s episode is almost definitely the most heartwarming episode of the season, full of scenes of the family enjoying themselves and having a good time on the island. It’s been a while since the whole family has gotten together to enjoy themselves, so this particular episode is a big treat for fans.

Some Precious Family Time After A Dangerous Mission

The cruise arrives at the resort island, and Loid and Anya quickly disembark. They soon reunite with Yor, and while Loid notices a bruise on her cheek, she’s able to wave it off as something that happened during a domestic dispute between the couple she was escorting. With her responsibilities now over and done with, Yor is able to spend the final day of the cruise with Loid and Anya. An eventful day awaits them on the island as they enjoy all kinds of activities, including bike riding, cave exploring, and sandcastle building.

As Anya plays with a bunch of sheep on the farm, Yor watches her with a warm smile, happy that she has been able to protect those that are important to her. While continuing to enjoy the island, Anya points out snorkeling, which worries Yor since she still has a scar on her chest. However, she notices that she can rent a wetsuit that covers up her body, so she encourages Anya to go snorkeling. At the end of the day, both Yor and Anya pass out from exhaustion, forcing Loid to carry them both. Though he is somewhat exasperated, Loid is thankful to Yor for indulging Anya’s wishes even though she had to have been tired out from work. As the sun sets, the ship sets off from the island and heads back home.

The Forgers Return to Their Eccentric Daily Lives

With the cruise ship done, the Forgers return to their daily lives. Loid reports about the bombing incident to Handler, while Yor returns to work at city hall, where she is stunned to learn that the souvenirs she bought for them were not well-received. Meanwhile, Yuri is excited to see his sister again, though his visit forces Loid to make the house seem like it belongs to a more intimate couple. Essentially, it’s business as usual for the Forgers, which feels like a breath of fresh air after such a long arc.

Anya, meanwhile, heads back to school at Eden Academy, where everyone is talking about the vacation they had over the break. Anya in particular is excited to brag about her exciting cruise ship vacation, and she believes that she’ll be able to impress Damian enough to get him to invite her to his house. Unfortunately, Anya has forgotten exactly how wealthy her classmates are, and not only are they not that impressed by Anya’s cruise ship vacation, they all had vacations that were much more luxurious and impressive than hers. Desperate, Anya tries to dazzle her classmates by telling them about the assassins she saw on the ship, but not only do they not believe her, when she starts making things up, they end up teasing her about her obvious lies.

A Lesson About Lying

After enduring embarrassment at school, a sullen Anya returns home to her parents and Yuri, who is visiting. When the family asks why Anya is so down, she tells them that it was because she ended up lying about her vacation so that she could stand out. Despite all three of them lying as a part of their occupation and way of life, Loid, Yuri, and Yor struggle to tell Anya that lying is bad, unaware that she is listening in to their true thoughts on the subject. Realizing just how complicated a life of lying can be, Anya resolves not to lie as much in the future.

This scene, in particular, is hilarious, because the entire concept of the show is based around lying; Loid, Yor, and Anya are all trying to hide their true selves from others, and lying is naturally going to be a big part of that. Despite that, they all agree that lying is bad, but the fact that Loid and Yor would try to instill that fact into Anya despite knowing how much and how often they lie is the peak of irony. It’s a hilarious little bookend to a great action-packed arc.
