Game Rant can exclusively reveal a new clip from Paramount’s Shadow Land. The conspiracy thriller has just been treated to a limited theatrical release on May 31.
Shadow Land stars Academy Award Winner Jon Voight as former U.S. President Robert Wainwright, who discovers an international conspiracy aimed at discrediting his presidency while trying to enjoy his retirement. The movie was produced by Republic Pictures, a label of Paramount Global that the company revived in 2023, 56 years following the corporation’s original closure.
Jon Voight Describes Creepy Nightmare in New Shadow Land Clip
Game Rant can now exclusively reveal a clip from the newly debuted film, which includes an excerpt from one of its opening moments that introduces viewers to some of the main characters. The video starts with Voight’s President Wainwright describing one of his creepy dreams to one Jasper Barnes, played by Sean Maguire. This tidbit immediately establishes that Shadow Land isn’t a typical movie about a fictional president, as Wainwright is shown questioning his own sanity in the clip. Among other things, the former President shares that some of his nightmares appear to be foretelling his demise in highly suspicious circumstances.
Barnes then suggests that Wainwright consult with Dr. Elliot Davrow, portrayed by Marton Csokas, who is known for playing another doctor in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 starring Andrew Garfield. Before the former President agrees to the proposal, the clip cuts to what appears to be a flashback of his first meeting with Dr. Davrow, in which they discuss his book, Healing Journey, as well as his work with veterans. They appear to immediately hit it off, with the movie’s official description stating that Dr. Davrow eventually became President Wainwright’s personal psychiatrist. Following the brief exchange depicted in the clip, the doctor ends up being summoned to President Wainwright’s upstate estate in order to discuss his troubled dreams.
A Secret Service agent portrayed by Alexander Karim is seen in the exclusive clip as well. Shadow Land will also star Rhona Mitra, a renowned British actress whose filmography spans four decades. Philip Winchester, known for his work on Chicago Justice, Strike Back, and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, completes the movie’s cast. Voight is the biggest name attached to the picture, not least because he has three Academy Award nominations to his name, in addition to his Best Actor Oscar win for the 1978 classic Coming Home.
Shadow Land‘s May 31 silver screen debut is planned to be fairly short-lived; Paramount has already confirmed that it will start offering the movie digitally next week, with its VOD debut being scheduled for June 4.
