RUMOR: 3 Superheroes To Appear In Marvel Studios’ X-Men Reboot Revealed

Highlights

  • Angel, Iceman, and Jubilee will reportedly join Marvel’s X-Men reboot, sparking mixed reactions online.
  • Marvel Studios’ acquisition of X-Men rights hints at possible crossovers with Avengers in the MCU.
  • Marvel President Kevin Feige teases inclusion of fan favorites and lesser-known characters in the X-Men reboot.

Two founding members of X-Men, Angel and Iceman, will reportedly appear in Marvel’s reboot. Jubilee will also allegedly join them.

In March 2019, Marvel Studios regained the film rights to Deadpool, Fantastic Four and X-Men. The acquisition allows Marvel to explore the characters from those movies or do crossovers. Some are even already excited about Avengers vs. X-Men now that both are under the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, among the most talked about subjects following the acquisition is Marvel’s X-Men reboot because it features tons of fascinating mutants who deserve to be explored in depth. An insider just named at least three X-Men members who are reportedly confirmed to appear in the reboot.

According to @MyTimetoShineH, in a post on X, formerly Twitter, Angel, Iceman and Jubilee will appear in Marvel’s X-Men reboot. The announcement was met with mixed reactions, with several expressing joy that their favorite mutants would be on the big screen. Many were particularly happy about the possibility of seeing Iceman on the big screen. One commented, “Iceman [is] one of my favs! Let’s go.” Another said, “Iceman was wasted in the Fox movies (as were most of the X-Men that weren’t named Wolverine), so [that’s] good to hear. I’d also be very happy if Nightcrawler was on the team.” A different user opined, “Finally, Jubilee and Angel at long last.” Another user suggested having Isaac Kragten, Lucas Till, and Peyton Elizabeth as Iceman, Angel, and Jubilee, respectively. A number of social media users also hoped to see Wolverine, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Emma Frost, Beast, Gambit, Psylocke and Storm. A different commenter said Rogue, Storm, and Dafnee Keen’s X-23 are a must in the reboot.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige spoke about the X-Men reboot with Gizmodo. He teased that the roster would feature a mix of fan favorites. However, fans can also expect to see unfamiliar or lesser-known characters. The Marvel honcho even teased that a number of X-Men characters were featured in Deadpool & Wolverine. Feige said, “There are a lot of great X-Men characters in all of the Fox versions of the X-Men films. And there are a lot of great X-Men characters that have never gone on the big screen. So I think as we always try to do, as we did when we made the arrangement with Sony for Spider-Man, you’ll probably see a mix of characters you’ve seen before and characters you’ve never seen before.” He added that the success of X-Men ’97 also made them excited to see fans revisit and reconnect with that world. Its soap opera elements, as Feige called it, were among the factors that reportedly made them excited about taking X-Men characters into the MCU.

The trio’s appearance certainly made sense. Angel and Iceman were founding members of X-Men and appeared in The X-Men #1. The pair, including Jubilee, have also appeared in several movies. The trio appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). Both Jubilee and Angel were featured in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016). Jubilee and Iceman were also part of X-Men (2000) and X2: X-Men United (2003). Iceman also appeared in the 2014 movie X-Men: Days of Future Past. Hopefully, this time, they can give the three characters enough time on the screen and a great storyline.

Jubilee’s appearance in the Apocalypse was promising, but it ended up with nothing substantial, and she wasn’t even felt in her previous appearances, which was a waste. Jubilee, an orphan who plays a sidekick role to Wolverine, who is a father figure to her, can generate pyrotechnic energy blasts from her hands. Also, hopefully, Angel will have more power than just flying. Angel and Jubilee were portrayed by multiple actors in the X-Men franchise, so it’s unclear who will portray them. On the other hand, Iceman was portrayed by Shawn Ashmore in the X-Men movies, but it is still unclear if he will return to reprise the role in the reboot. However, Ashmore said earlier this year that he was willing to reprise the role. Most importantly, one should still take the report with a grain of salt until Marvel confirms it.

MCU’s X-Men reboot has no release date yet, but all X-Men films are available to stream on Disney Plus.
