Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of Reacher season 3, and it appears the Prime Video action series has recently wrapped filming with a release date set for sometime in 2025. It appears there is no rest for Reacher’s lead star, Alan Ritchson, who has already started working on his next role in a new action movie called Motor City. The movie required Ritchson to transform into a very different character, and despite this being quite a challenge, nothing is too much for one of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
Reacher Season 3 will be based on Lee Child’s book, Persuader, and it’ll see Ritchson joined by returning cast member, Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, and newcomers to the series, Anthony Michael Hall as villain, Zachary Peck, Johnny Berchtold as his son, Richard Peck, and hulking bodybuilder, Olivier Richters. Motor City is an exciting project for Alan Ritchson, and it could see him become a bona fide big screen action star.

Alan Ritchson has heavily suggested that filming on Reacher season 3 has been completed, as he moves onto his next production. The action series experienced delays due to the writer’s strike, but things seem to have been moving forward at a faster pace since filming resumed after the strike ended. Ritchson teased his next movie, Motor City, and commented on his shift in focus in an Instagram post:
How do you completely transform when you only have a few days to transition from Reacher to your next role in period action piece extraordinaire, #MotorCity?
In May 2024, Ritchson suggested that Reacher season 3 is unlikely to be released this year, and the earliest fans could expect to see the new season drop on Prime Video would be in 2025. Ritchson is keen to continue playing Reacher as long as possible, with plenty of source material from Lee Child’s books to draw from in future seasons.
In contrast to Reacher season 2, which was very much a team effort with the backing of the 110th Special Investigators, the upcoming season looks set to be more of a solo mission for Reacher, albeit with some assistance from his old pal, Frances Neagley. Season 3 will see the ex-military officer go undercover to infiltrate a drug operation run by a man named Zachary Peck (Anthony Michael Hall).

Motor City is an action thriller that tells the story of a man named John Miller (played by Alan Ritchson): an auto-worker by trade with a girlfriend (Shailene Woodley), until everything is taken away from him when he is framed by a local gangster (Ben Foster), and ends up in the prison system. Upon his release from prison, Miller is out for revenge on the people behind his framing, while trying to rekindle his romance with the girlfriend he left behind.
The movie will be set in Detroit, and is set to be the next in a long line of highly stylized action movies like John Wick and Nobody. Ritchson has proven from his work in Reacher, that he is a master at creating well-choreographed action sequences, but he also has the acting chops to create compelling three-dimensional characters. Ritchson shared more about his process in preparing for Motor City on his Instagram page:
My goal is always to make a character as real for you as humanely possible. Not having days off between jobs makes it hard to go as far as I want, but I’ll get as close to unrecognizable as possible. I refuse to play myself. You’ve never experienced anything like Motor City.
Potsy Ponciroli, who is best known for directing Old Henry and Greedy People, will take the reins on Motor City and production began on July 10 in New Jersey and AlUla, Saudi Arabia, with Stampede Ventures producing the movie. Jack White, who has won a staggering 12 Grammy Awards, is the musical director on Motor City, and will bring his own unique spin on the soundtrack.
Stampede Ventures’ president of production, John Berg, provided a few more details on the upcoming project:
This movie is somewhere between an opera, a music video, and an action movie. Emotion conveys without language being essential; the actors’ performances are front and center. Potsy has a killer vision for the film: dynamic camera, brilliant music, muscle cars, and an immersive sound design surrounding badass action sequences. ‘Motor City’ will be a standout film; a cinematic and sonic feast that should boldly stand out in the marketplace.
