Highlights
- Robin has become a much stronger fighter after the timeskip, defeating enemies like Hammond and using new applications of her Devil Fruit ability.
- In the Wano arc, Robin strategically outsmarted the Orochi Oniwabanshu to fulfill her goal and back up her crewmates in battle.
- Robin faced her most challenging opponent in the New World, Black Maria, and had to tap into her demon form to defeat her.
One of the strongest members of the Straw Hat Pirates, Nico Robin is the archaeologist of the crew who also leads one of the most important plot points in the entire series pertaining to the Void Century. While Robin is mostly involved in the story about that particular plot point, she is also one of the most important combatants of the crew and often takes on strong enemies.
That said, Robin is, sadly, not given enough fights in the story. However, despite Robin not getting regular fights in One Piece after the timeskip, she has already taken on many powerful foes in the New World and even bested quite a few of them already.
5 Hammond
Arc: Fishman Island
Hammond was a member of the New Fishman Pirates and one who wasn’t all that strong to begin with. When the fighting between the Straw Hat Please and the New Fishman Pirates broke out, Hammond ended up in combat with Nico Robin. As expected, Robin made quick work of him and defeated him comfortably in battle.
This wasn’t all that intriguing of a fight, however, it went to show how far Robin had come after the timeskip. She was able to produce a clone of her body and use a double clutch, which was a new application of her already great Devil Fruit ability. It must also be noted that, technically, this battle was not fought in the New World. However, it wasn’t fought in Paradise either, and since it happened in the latter half of the story, it fits the New World segment of One Piece much better.
4 Oniwabanshu
Arc: Wano
In the Wano Country arc, Robin got many opportunities to fight and one of them came against the Orochi Oniwabanshu. This fight wasn’t all out combat, as one would’ve liked. Instead, it was a strategic battle where Robin successfully managed to fulfill her goal of getting to the Poneglyph. When she was confronted by the Oniwabanshu, she was able to trick them all and later, escape as she was only using her clone.
In the Main Hall, the battle continued and Robin backed up all the other Straw Hats. In the end, Nami dealt a telling blow and gave everyone an opportunity to escape.
3 York (Implied)
Arc: Egghead Island
York is one of Vegapunk’s six satellites and a character who plays a significant role in the Egghead Island arc of One Piece. She represents Vegapunk’s greed and, for that reason, was tempted by the power that Celestial Dragons held. As a result, York struck a deal with the Government that let her become a Celestial Dragon in exchange for making Motherflame for them.
When her evil plot was revealed in the Egghead Island arc, York was faced by none other than Robin, Chopper, and Atlas. It isn’t exactly clear who defeated York, but given the fact that Robin was closest to her, and the fact that she had some injuries in the aftermath of the incident, it can fairly be assumed that Robin was responsible for subduing York and her great scientific prowess. For a pirate worth 930 million berries, this wouldn’t have been much of a struggle, however, given that York was quite smart and the fact that she had many minions, such as the Seraphims and others, this could have been a real challenge for Robin in which she might have even needed assistance.
2 Hakuba
Arc: Dressrosa
Hakuba is the alter ego of Cavendish and a character that played a very interesting role in the Dressrosa Arc of One Piece. There, when Hakuba took over Cavendish, it was none other than Nico Robin who stopped him in his path. According to Robin, Hakuba’s speed as well as power meant absolutely nothing to her since she was stronger than him and could also keep track of him.
Hakuba was completely stopped and, later on, Cavendish managed to gain further control over himself which Robin trusted. As a result, Robin let him go. This isn’t necessarily a full-blown battle or a complete victory for Robin, however, just goes to show that Robin could have taken him down if she wished, as she was casually able to subdue Hakuba and completely crush him.
1 Black Maria
Arc: Wano Country
By far, the strongest enemy that Robin fought in the New World was none other than Black Maria. Fans know her to be one of the Tobiroppo of the Beast Pirates and she proved to be quite a thorn in Robin’s side. In fact, she pushed Robin to her absolute limits and forced her to go beyond that. Even Robin’s full power was not enough to contend with her.
In the end, Robin had to push beyond all her limits and bring out her demon form, called Demonio Fleur, using which she was able to completely crush her. This was Robin’s most iconic battle in the New World, at least up to Wano.
