The Celestial Dragons are some of the most influential people to have ever lived in the world of One Piece. Essentially, these are the descendants of the original 20 founders of the World Government. The Celestial Dragons live atop the Red Line in the Holy Land of Marijoa.

The vast majority of the Celestial Dragons seen in One Piece are remarkably weak. However, over the years, fans have seen quite a lot of powerful Celestial Dragons emerge in the story as well and some of them are contenders for the strongest characters alive.
6 Donquixote Rosinante
Celestial Dragon Family: Donquixote
Donquixote Rosinante was a member of the Donquixote Family, who was taken by Homing to live on the surface. Unlike Doflamingo, he wasn’t a cruel personality and possessed a gentle heart. He was raised by Sengoku like his very own son and, eventually, trained as a Marine as well.
Rosinante was quite a strong Marine who carried out his duties diligently. He also possessed the powers of the Nagi Nagi no Mi, which allowed him to create small rooms within which all sound could be erased entirely. He could also erase the sound of other objects by placing this power over individuals, such as Law. He was quite powerful, however, not strong enough to find off the strong officers of the Donquixote Pirates. Regardless, when compared to the average Celestial Dragons, he was quite impressive.
5 Donquixote Doflamingo

Doflamingo is one of the strongest pirates and the One Piece world and, until the events of the Dressrosa arc, he was among the most dangerous pirates on the seas, something that even Kuzan openly acknowledged. This danger emanating from him didn’t just come from the fact that he possessed great strength but also because he carried the bloodline of the Celestial Dragons.
Doflamingo possessed the powers of the Ito Ito no Mi, using which he could produce strings at will. He could cut into his enemies, fly, or even create a slaughterhouse using the birdcage with this power. Awakening granted him even greater power and allowed him to spread it to his immediate surroundings, being able to control giant constructs of strings as well. He was also a user of all three types of Haki, making him an even rarer pirate. That said, Doflamingo’s control over Haki was at a very basic level and he eventually lost to Luffy who unleashed the power of Gear Fourth against him.
4 Garling Figarland

Among the Celestial Dragons, one of the strongest is surely Garling Figarland. This is a character that was recently introduced in One Piece as the Supreme Commander of the Holy Knights. Saint Garling is a descendant of the Figarland Family and its current ruler.

He was known as the Champion of God Valley, likely because he won the Native Hunting Games on God Valley 38 years ago. He possesses incredible might, such that even Dragon takes his army and its movements into careful consideration. His powers are not known just yet, however, this character has connections to the likes of Shanks, possibly being his father. As such, fans should expect him to be very powerful and potentially a user of overpowered Devil Fruit abilities as well as incredible Haki.
3 Shanks
Celestial Dragon Family: Figarland
Shanks, much to the surprise of the fans, is a Celestial Dragon. He has the blood of the Figarland Family flowing through his veins and this was first confirmed in One Piece Film Red. Shanks has connections to the Figarland Family and he is likely the son of Saint Garling Figarland. He was found by the Roger Pirates on the island of God Valley 38 years ago after they took the loot from the island back to their ship.
Shanks was then raised by Roger as his apprentice and he gained tremendous strength. Shanks is one of the strongest pirates alive right now and it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that his true strength still remains to be seen.
2 Five Elders
Celestial Dragon Family: Topman, Ethanbaron, Marcus, Jaygarcia, Shepherd
The Five Elders are the highest-ranking of the Celestial Dragons. They are far above the normal Celestial Dragons in terms of both power and political influence. Essentially, they are the leaders of the world and fans should fully expect them to be among the strongest fighters. In the Reverie arc, it was finally revealed that all of them possess incredible abilities which are demonic in nature.
Saint Saturn, in particular, revealed his powers of the Ushi Oni in the Egghead Island arc. He is clearly among the strongest characters alive in One Piece and, just like him, all the other members of the Five Elders will be just as strong or stronger.
1 Imu Nerona
Celestial Dragon Family: Nerona
Imu, the sovereign of the world, is most likely the strongest Celestial Dragon in One Piece at the moment. The fans believed for the longest time that they didn’t possess physical might, however, that belief was shattered entirely during Sabo’s Reverie flashback. It was made quite clear that Imu possesses a power that lets them transform into a creature capable of attacking with arrows and, at the same time, even consuming things such as fire.
Imu is incredibly powerful, even more so with the power of Motherflame at their side. They are clearly the strongest Celestial Dragon in the series right now and also the end-game villain of One Piece.

One Piece is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. The series follows protagonist Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirate crew as they explore the Grand Line to find the King of the Pirates’ ultimate treasure, the One Piece, in order to become the next king. The manga’s popularity helped it spin off into a larger media franchise, including an anime with more than 1,000 episodes.
