One Piece is currently focusing extensively on the Iron Giant, and this magnificent piece of work is certainly going to take center stage in the finale of the Egghead Island arc. The Iron Giant was introduced quite early in the series, and ever since then, fans knew that at some point in the story, it would awaken, and play a significant role in the story.
Little did fans know that in the very same arc, it will go on to take part in the Egghead war, and drive the plot forward in many interesting ways. Right now, the Iron Giant is up against the Five Elders, and this is where fans will likely get a proper display of its strength.
The Creation Of The Iron Giant
The Iron Giant Was Created Long Ago
The Iron Giant was created during the Void Century at some point. Fans do not know exactly who created it and how it was created in the first place, however, the giant is a mechanical marvel. In fact, the Iron Giant is such a magnificent piece of work that even Vegapunk, whose mind is 500 years ahead of the current humanity, does not know how this magnificent machinery was made back then. Of course, this makes total sense, given that the people living in the Void Century, specifically those of the Great Kingdom, were extremely advanced. Their science was far beyond even what exists today, and for them, this was not a big deal at all. While creating a structure as massive and sturdy as the Iron Giant was doable, it is the power source that actually is a big issue for Vegapunk. For instance, Vegapunk did manage to create the Vega Force, modeling it on the Iron Giant, however, the biggest problem that he ran into was that he couldn’t recreate the ancient energy source.
The people who created the Iron Giant long ago used a special type of energy cell to power it up. This is why the Iron Giant was as strong as it was. In fact, 200 years ago, the Iron Giant attacked Marijoa. How exactly it managed to stay alive for 600 years and why exactly it attacked six centuries after the conclusion of the Great War remains unknown at this point in time. However, what fans know for a fact is that it did attack Marijoa, but before it could complete its job, it ran out of energy. Those of the World Government ordered it to be dismantled, however, the scientists chose to preserve it, and eventually, it found its way to Egghead Island, where Vegapunk currently is. Vagapunk studied this giant, and of course, fans then saw the Iron Giant being awakening in the Egghead Island Arc.
The Strength Of The Iron Giant
The Iron Giant Is Plenty Powerful
When it comes to the strength of the Iron Giant, fans know that it is quite powerful. At the very least, fans know that it is multiple times stronger than Vega Force. Vegaforce itself was quite durable and could fight against the mechanical Sea Kings created by Vega Punk himself. At the same time, it can be assumed that the Iron Giant is multiple times stronger than Vega Force, simply because it is powered by ancient energy. It also appears to be more durable, as was seen in the Buster Call that was launched on Egghead Island. Once the Iron Giant awakened, it was walking across the island. Curiously enough, during this time, the Iron Giant apologized to Joy Boy for some reason. The reason for this apology isn’t known just yet, but one can assume that the Iron Giant failed Joy Boy somehow and that it was given some mission that it couldn’t successfully pull off.
Still, fans know for a fact that the Iron Giant is trying to do its best at this point in time, and, interestingly enough, this is where fans got a glimpse of its skill as well. For one, fans got to see how durable the Iron Giant is. Even a sea of flames couldn’t hurt the giant. In fact, the Marines unleashed the full power of the battleships towards the Giant, launching attacks bigger than even a Buster Call, which can reduce an entire island to ash, at it. Despite that, the Iron Giant wasn’t even scratched. This means that the giant is strong enough to sustain a Buster Call itself, which is a massive accomplishment.
When taking into consideration the fact that the Iron Giant is powered by ancient energy, fans then understand that this giant is truly magnificent, no matter which way they look at it. The true power of the Iron Giant is still not out in the open. Fans know for a fact that the Iron Giant has great skill up its sleeve. At the same time, the hidden energy likely gives it some special abilities in combat, and it will be interesting to see how Oda incorporates this power as the Iron Giant heads into further battles. In the previous chapter, it was also clarified that the Iron Giant is going to be fighting against the Five Elders. This is because York deduced that the transponder snail that the Five Elders are trying to destroy is currently in possession of the Iron Giant. As such, the target for the Five Elders is now going to be this magnificent giant, and fans will definitely get to see it fight against some of the strongest individuals in the entire One Piece series.
The Ancient Energy Of The Iron Giant
The Ancient Energy Will Make The Difference Against The Elders
Of course, when speaking of the strength of the Iron Giant, one absolutely cannot overlook the ancient energy that powers it up. Vegapunk clarified at the beginning of the Egghead Island Arc that the Iron Giant runs on ancient energy Strangely enough, the Iron Giant only awoke after Luffy utilized the power of Gear 5. The Drums of Liberation somehow channeled enough energy to it to wake up, and ever since then, it has been walking on Egghead. While the Iron Giant has not truly taken up arms against anyone at this point, fans will surely get to see a display of its strength soon enough. The ancient energy that powers it up might also be seen in combat. Fans might assume that this ancient energy source is not going to be powerful enough to deal sustainable damage to anyone, however, it is entirely possible for this Iron Giant to actually utilize this energy source to deal sustainable damage to individuals such as the Elders.
In fact, it is entirely possible that the Five Elders are susceptible to damage done via ancient energy. Given that they are immortal, there must be some way to injure them, and perhaps the way to do that is ancient energy. If that truly is the case, then the Iron Giant is certainly going to be one of the strongest individuals alive right now in One Piece.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1118, is set to be June 25, 2024.
