One Piece chapter 1117 dropped earlier and it certainly excited the fans quite a lot, especially after a 2-week break. Fans have been waiting for the series to make its grand return, hoping for Vegapunk’s message to successfully wrap up.
This chapter sees to it that the message did indeed end, although not in the way the fans expected. However, at the same time, fans also had a lot of other exciting things to witness in the chapter. One of the most interesting things in One Piece chapter 1117 was the unexpected return of quite a few characters that the fans had been waiting for. Don Krieg, Gin, and Pearl Make Their Return In One Piece
In the Egghead Island Arc, Oda has been taking fans all over the world. In fact, even characters that were introduced in the story decades ago and were not seen since have made their appearance in this arc. This is largely through Vegapunk’s message. Vagapunk’s words have been transmitted to every single corner of the world. Those who are in unreachable parts of the world, and those who are in the most hustling and bustling parts of the world have all heard the message the same. This was the perfect opportunity for Oda to take fans all over the world once again, and, at the same time, take them down memory lane. That said, while fans were expecting some characters, such as those living on islands that the Straw Hat Pirates visited previously, to show up again, they were not expecting some others that Oda put in during this broadcast. In One Piece chapter 1117, fans got to see none other than the Krieg Pirates once again.

Fans were specifically waiting for Gin to show up again after the events of the Baratie Arc. Given how long ago that was, it has been over two decades since he last showed up in the story and fans finally got the post-timeskip design for him as well. In One Piece chapter 1117, the Krieg Pirates, consisting of Don Krieg, Gin, and Pearl, were all seen on the Pirate Island. There, the message was being broadcast by Vegapunk, and a lot of the Pirates were now taking this message seriously. Fans did not really care about the reaction of the other pirates on this island. They were mostly concerned with Don Krieg, Gin, and of course, to some extent, Pearl as well. These are incredibly exciting villains that fans especially wanted to see in the post-timeskip.
While one can’t speak for Don Krieg and Pearl, Gin is a character readers have always wanted to see return. This is because he promised to see Luffy and Sanji on the high seas one day, and now, he is in the New World as well, which means that he has grown tremendously powerful over the years.
Is Gin Still Following Krieg?
Gin And Krieg Might’ve Had a Change In Dynamics
Of course, naturally, fans would wonder whether Gin is still following Don Krieg or not. Towards the end of the Baratie Arc, Gin made it quite clear that he was always under Don Krieg’s shadow and, many times, he wanted to escape from it. He also mentioned that Don Krieg’s dreams have become his own, and that, now, he has to live out for these dreams and even if he’s hunted, he’s going to do his very best. According to Gin, this is something that he picked up from none other than Luffy himself. Gin also clearly mentioned that from there onwards, if he were to survive the poisoning, he would then find his own path. This was a clear implication of the fact that he would set his own course and not follow Don Krieg anymore.

Right now, there is no confirmation as to whether he is still following Don Krieg or not. It could very well be that Gin is still under Don Krieg. However, it could also be that Gin and Dawn Krieg have both set sail separately. This would be exciting for the fans, given that it would mean that Gin has his own pirate crew now.
A third possibility that exists right now is that Gin could potentially have become the Captain of the crew and Don Krieg and Pearl would be under him. This is also a very exciting possibility, and one that will likely be explored more when the story focuses on the Pirate Island.
Will The Krieg Pirates Play A Role In The Future Of One Piece?
The Krieg Pirates Will Likely Come Across The Straw Hats Soon
The Krieg Pirates have finally been reintroduced in One Piece, and from here onwards, fans would definitely want them to be involved in the plot in one way or another. Right now, it is unknown whether they are under Blackbeard or not. However, given that they are on the Pirate Island, which is ruled by Blackbeard, one would assume that they have some sort of collaboration with him. Still, regardless of what they are trying to do, fans can rest assured that they will see more of the Krieg Pirates later down the line. Gin and Krieg will especially show up when the Pirate Island is put under focus. This could happen in a multitude of ways.
For one, the Marines could launch an all-out assault on the Pirate Island. This would be to save Monkey D. Garp, who fans know has been imprisoned there. This could give Gin, Krieg, and his pirate crew a chance to show off their skills once again. It is also possible that at some point in the future of the story, the Pirate Island will be welcoming the Straw Hat Pirates as well. Of course, the chances of that happening might be low, but it is still possible, and when that happens, fans might actually get to see Krieg and Luffy face off again, while Sanji and Gin would meet each other once again.
It is also possible for Krieg and his crew to set sail from the Pirate Island and go to a different islands altogether. If that were to be the case, then fans can rest assured that Gin, Krieg, as well as Pearl, will most definitely cross paths with the Straw Hat Pirates. Regardless of when that happens, one thing that fans can admire them on is their journey back to the Grand Line. Back in the East Blue Saga, Krieg and his men returned from the Grand Line being utterly destroyed. One would assume that after that dreadful experience, they would give up. However, they continue to persist and right now they are on the most dangerous sea in the entire world, which is the New World, and they seem to have done well for themselves, which is commendable, regardless of how evil these characters are.
