One Piece chapter 1120 has proven to be absolutely spectacular, and fans have once again found out quite a lot of information pertaining to the history of the One Piece world, with much of that being down to Vegapunk himself. In this chapter, fans got to see a lot more of Vegapunk’s past, specifically around the time when he was still working on Punk Hazard, with the likes of Caesar Clown. During this time, Vegapunk met with Professor Clover, and very exciting revelations were made in the story which have massive implications.
In fact, some of these reveals touched upon the curious family of the D that fans have seen all over One Piece from its beginning right up until where it is now. Now, there might just be an implication that Nico Robin, who fans know to be a member of the Straw Hat Pirates, could be a member of the D. as well.
Nico Robin’s Connection To The Archeologists
Robin Is Deeply Tied To The Archeologists Of Ohara
Nico Robin is an archaeologist and fans have known that ever since she was introduced in the story. Although Robin was introduced in the story as a villain and a character who not many thought would join Luffy on his journey in Arabasta, she ended up doing just that after Luffy saved her life when she gave up on her dream. Robin believed that her dream was too difficult to achieve and that she had too many enemies. But, she ended up becoming a proper member of the Strawhat Pirates after Arabasta. In Enies Lobby, Oda seriously put her bond with the Straw Hats to the test. During this arc, fans also found out quite a lot about Robin’s past, and, it certainly proved to be an incredible backstory. Fans found out that Robin was from the island of Ohara in West Blue, which was destroyed by the Government 20 years ago at the time. On Ohara, there lived many scholars. Robin’s own mom was a scholar as well, as was her father. Robin was abandoned by her parents because they believed they had a bigger duty to fulfill as scholars to the entire world. As such, Robin studied day and night and this was done simply because she wanted her parents to be proud of her, and connect with her once again.
This is the first time I ever wanted to be stronger for someone else’s sake. – Nico Robin
Robin studied under the many scholars of Ohara, and even secretly by herself. In fact, Robin became one of the youngest archaeologists among scholars on the island at the age of eight, which was unprecedented. By this time, she had already learned how to read Poneglyphs as well, although she did this in secret. The archaeologists of Ohara were shocked to know that Robin possessed this ability, but it certainly just went to highlight her greatness in One Piece. After the destruction of Ohara, Robin became the last known survivor of this land, and she carried their will inside of her. Robin set on a quest to find the Rio Poneglyph, which fans know to be the one that reveals the history of the entire world. In reality, the Rio Poneglyph is a collection of nine Poneglyphs, and taking them to the final island, Laugh Tale, will reveal the truth of the entire world, which is what Robin aims to do currently.
Professor Clover’s Connection To The D
Clover Was Revealed To Be A Member Of The Claiomh D. Family
In One Piece chapter 1120, fans found out quite a lot about Professor Clover. This character was first introduced to the fans during Robin’s flashback in the Enies Lobby arc. There, it was quite clear for fans to see that Clover was overseeing all the research done on Poneglyphs and had found out quite a great deal about the Ancient Kingdom and the past of the world. Clover revealed quite a lot of exciting bits of information, but, before he could reveal the name of the Ancient Kingdom, he was shot by government agents, and Ohara was subsequently destroyed. Robin became the last known survivor, being labeled as the Demon Child.
In the Egghead Island arc, fans also found out more details about the life of Professor Clover. In this arc, Oda revealed that Clover was actually a pirate once, and he went on to continue his research as a pirate. Clover was arrested multiple times, but let go by the Government because they wanted him to lead them to his other compatriots and eventually arrest them. More recently, in One Piece 1120, it was also revealed that Clover had a brother. When he was a child, his brother was killed in front of him, just for having a special name. This name was none other than that of the D. It was revealed in One Piece chapter 1120 that Clover belonged to the family of the D, and in his case, the family is the Claiomh D Family. Clover’s full name is Claiomh D. Clover, and this certainly attaches more importance to his character. Fans have seen quite a lot of D families in One Piece over the years, and this is a new one to add to that.
Does The Will Of D Live Through Robin?
Robin Carries The Will Of D And Could Have This Family Connection Too
Quite clearly, Clover is now dead, as are the vast majority of the scholars from Ohara. There are only three individuals who know the deep secrets of Ohara. The first one is Jaguar D. Saul. He managed to salvage the books of Ohara that were present inside the Tree of Knowledge, and safely secured them all the way to Elbaf. He has likely become a scholar himself now, and learned the ability to read the Poneglyphs, and much more. Fans already know that Saul is a member of the D family, which attaches the checkered fate of this clan to him. The only other person who knows these secrets is Nico Robin. Robin herself is an archaeologist from Ohara, and she knows how to read Poneglyphs as well. Robin is essentially the next Clover, and has inherited not just his will, but that of every other scholar who died on Ohara.
When all I want is to learn of a history, there are too many enemies within my dream – Nico Robin
She has inherited the will of her parents, Clover, and just about every other scholar that fans have seen in the series who wanted to bring out the truth of the world. Fans know the concept of Inherited Will works in mysterious ways in One Piece, and it clearly wouldn’t be a surprise for the fans to know that Nico Robin is from a family of the D as well. Recently, it was revealed that Vivi is a member of the D Family as well, and in her case, the family is the Nefertari D family.
In the case of Robin, it could be some other family and her real name could have been hidden. Fans don’t know much about Robin’s real name yet, and this could easily be hidden away because Robin never truly interacted with her parents as she was abandoned at a very early age.
Later down the line, when Oda reveals most secrets about Nico Robin, her past, and, more specifically, the research of the scholars of Ohara, fans will most definitely find out what Olvia and all the others found out, and more importantly, if they carried certain significance, just like Clover. In that case, Olvia could be revealed to be a member of the D family, and by extension, Robin could be one as well.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1121, is set to be July 21, 2024.
