Egghead Island has slowly turned into a battleground featuring some of the biggest names in One Piece. At the beginning of the arc, fans had no idea that the island of the future would become embroiled in war. Initially, the Straw Hats had to deal with CP0. The heroes were able to secure victory without much difficulty, but then York seized the moment and decided to betray them.

She faked her own death to throw everyone else off her trial. York would have gotten away with it if not for Atlas and Robin. Once York had been dealt with, another problem arose, and this time it was a Marine Admiral.

Kizaru Arrives

Kizaru accompanied St. Jaygarcia Saturn to Egghead Island. Since Saturn is the Godhead of Science and Defense, it was his responsibility to deal with Vegapunk, who had betrayed the World Government. As they drew closer to Egghead Island, Kizaru decided to go ahead and solve the situation. He managed to defeat Sentomaru easily, after which he had to fight Luffy. Kizaru was probably expecting a similar outcome, but Luffy showed how much he had improved. With Kizaru unable to win, Jaygarcia Saturn had to get involved.

The Five Elders Assemble

St. Jaygarcia Saturn was serious from the get-go, and he was not willing to spare anyone. In fact, he called people "ants" and said that he didn't care about how many he stomped under his feet. At one point, it seemed that Saturn would be successful in his endeavor to eliminate everyone on Egghead Island, but fate had other plans. The Giant Warrior Pirates appeared and provided back-up to the Straw Hats, making things difficult for the Celestial Dragon and his goons. After he was unable to harm Luffy and his group, Saturn decided to summon the other Five Elders.

With all Five Elders in the same place, it was obvious that the heroes were in peril. They couldn't handle one of the five, so dealing with all of them at the same time was going to be next to impossible. With things looking bleak, the question on everyone's lips is: who will rescue the Straw Hats?

The Iron Giant Awakens

The Iron Giant was introduced early in the Egghead arc. Dr. Vegapunk revealed that it was created by a civilization that existed centuries prior to the current timeline. The craftsmanship on the robot was so exquisite that even Dr. Vegapunk was amazed by it. But what truly makes the Iron Giant unique is its energy source.

Vegapunk was unable to create the energy source that powered the Iron Giant. This is what propelled the scientist to research and learn more about it. Dr. Vegapunk also disclosed that the Iron Giant attacked Marijoa 200 years ago. But it ran out of energy before it could do any significant damage. The upper brass were obviously relieved, and they had set aside the robot to be destroyed. However, it never materialized, and the Iron Giant remained dormant. However, in One Piece Chapter 1111, the Iron Giant awakened once again. According to the Marines, the robot dwarfed even the giants in size. Towards the end of the chapter, the Iron Giant apologized to Joyboy, which left the audience scratching their heads.

How The Iron Giant Will Help The Straw Hats

Judging from the Iron Giant's words, it is quite obvious that he has some kind of connection to Joyboy. While the reason behind its apology remains unknown, it is plausible to assume that it may be related to its inability to complete a mission. It is highly likely that Joyboy entrusted the Iron Giant with an objective. But for one reason or another, the robot could not complete it.

But it would seem fate gave the Iron Giant another chance to undo its mistake. With Luffy and his crewmates in danger, the Iron Giant can support them and help them escape from Egghead Island. The Five Elders are too powerful to be beaten by the Straw Hat Pirates. If the crew tries to fight, they will inevitably be defeated and killed by the Five Elders. For them, the only sensible option is to escape and continue to improve their strength. The Iron Giant will try to keep the Five Elders busy, giving the Straw Hats the opportunity to get away from Egghead Island.

It is safe to say that the Iron Giant won't survive for too long on its own. So, the Straw Hats will have to quickly make their escape. Once the pirates leave the island safely, the Iron Giant will have made amends for its mistake/failure in the past. It is also likely that Oda will pull the curtain on this particular mystery in the Egghead arc itself. It seems like the right time to disclose the information, especially when there is a good chance that the Iron Giant will be destroyed by the Five Elders.
