In the One Piece series, Eiichiro Oda draws similar parallels to certain events, and one of these is Sabaody Archipelago and Egghead Island. These prominent locations in One Piece share intriguing similarities that highlight how Oda creatively weaves the plot together, making it hard for fans to predict how a particular event will unfold.

However, even though these two Islands are distinct in their ways, they share some parallels that make them a significant part of the narrative. Through these parallel elements, Sabaody and Egghead Island offer captivating narratives that captivate and challenge the characters, especially the Straw Hat Pirates, in a way that will ultimately shape their journey in the vast and treacherous sea.

Both Set the Stage For Grander Events

Sabaody Archipelago is a significant location in the World of One Piece. The place serves as a gateway to the treacherous waters of the New World, the second half of the Grand Line. It is a gathering place for pirates, bounty hunters, and adventurers who seek to enter this dangerous and uncharted territory. For the Straw Hat pirates, their first voyage to Sabaody is imbued in bitterness as it is the first time the crew faces an enemy they cannot defeat. Bartholomeo Kuma separated The Straw Hat crew into different Islands; even their strong captain, Monkey D. Luffy, was no exception. The events at Sabaody led to one of the most significant events in the series: Luffy’s Impel Down prison breakout and his significant involvement in the Marineford war.

Moreover, the due revelations −Kuma’s flashbacks− and current events unfolding at Egghead Island are laying the foundation for more significant events that will shake the core of One Piece. The enigmatic Vegapunk and one of the five elders of the Celestial Dragons, Jaygarcia Saturn, has finally come to the surface to change the course of the war that had broken out on Egghead Island. Hereafter, Egghead Island unveils Kuma’s backstory and how he believes Luffy has the values of Sun God Nika. While the events of Sabaody are part of the grander scheme to make Luffy take part in the momentous events of Impel Down and Marineford, Egghead will shape the future arc and events of One Piece. In other words, both islands catalyze major events that reflect and shape future events by adding depth to the narrative and setting the stage for a grander scheme of events.

Both Islands Have a Distinctive Structure and Feel

Sabaody Island features enormous trees connected by walkways and bridges, unlike typical islands. The archipelago has a unique and visually striking appearance with these towering trees. The structure’s verticality gives it a sense of height and depth that distinguishes it from other flat landmasses. Also, to move between the many levels of the Sabaody Archipelago, sizable bubbles are employed. This inventive and amusing form of transportation gives the scene a magical and distinctive touch.

Likewise, the ingenious design and cutting-edge technology of Egghead Island make it a unique and distinctive location, offering an intriguing and innovative backdrop for the characters and the plot of the series. The series portrays the Island as one of the most technologically advanced locations, highlighting its futuristic design styles and high technological innovation.

The Celestial Dragons Stand Out As The True Enemies of the World

The oppressive and tyrannical nature of the Celestial Dragons makes them one of the true enemies of the World in One Piece. They are the descendants of the founders of the World Government, which grants them immense political power and privileges. They live extravagant lives and have the authority to exercise their will without consequence. Their privilege and entitlement create a stark contrast between them and people like the Straw Hat pirates who vie for a better world. In Sabaody, the World Government issued a buster call against the Straw Hats for opposing and punching a Celestial Dragon. This Buster Call resulted in suffering and chaos on the Island because the blatant discrimination and exploitation demonstrated by the Celestial Dragons ought to be embraced rather than challenged. Luffy punched a Celestial Dragon, and at that point, he stood for systematic oppression against the fundamental rights of people.

Also, the appearance of Jaygarcia Saturn on Egghead Island perpetuates the stance of the oppressive nature of the Celestial Dragon. As a series of tumultuous events begin to unfold at Egghead Island, it is obvious now that the Celestial Dragons will always be on the wrong side of history as this group of privileged people thrives in a world perpetuated by corruption. Once again, just like the Straw Hats’ first voyage to Sabaody, Admiral Kizaru isn’t the only powerful figure that stands in their way but the powerful Jaygarcia Saturn who will do nothing positive other than wreak havoc on the Island. Also, Kuma’s flashback in the arc vividly portrays the Celestial Dragons as the true enemies of the World. They represent a great darkness in One Piece, and a win against their oppressive system is a big win for the world.

Familiar Faces Show Up In Big Roles

Egghead Island features some familiar faces and an entity that stood against the Straw Hat pirates on their first voyage to Sabaody Archipelago. The events at Sabaody are one of the most crucial parts of the narrative due to its representation of the Straw Hat pirate’s growth on the treacherous sea of One Piece. In Sabaody, Zoro was the first to meet Bonney when she saved him from an altercation with a Celestial Dragon. At this time, Oda does not present Bonney as someone who will later become one of the most significant characters to shape the series’ future. Bonney was also present as the World Government aired the execution of Portgas D. Ace in Marineford. Hereafter, Bonney bawled her eyes, crying that at this time, fans would only assume it was because a pirate like her would soon meet his doom. However, the recent events at Egghead Island beg to differ as fans now know the real reason for her emotional moment. For Bonney, Kuma makes her relevant, and this flashback explains Kuma’s involvement with the Straw Hat pirates.

Also, Kizaru stands against the Straw Hat pirates on Egghead Island like he did in Sabaody, and so does one of the most powerful figures in the World Government, Jay Garcia Saturn. For the Straw Hat, these people represent the opposing faction in Sabaody, as well as Egghead Island. As for Sentomaru, she switched sides to support the Straw Hats in Egghead as opposed to how she almost destroyed the Straw Hats with the Pacifistas in Sabaody. Once again, Oda wins the narrative with his great mastery of foreshadowing, and as fans wait patiently for the next big reveal, there is no doubt that the great creator of One Piece will surprise fans again.
