This flashback is easily one of the very best in One Piece and also one of the most important ones. One particular character that has been at the center of the flashback is none other than Ginny. Fans consider Ginny to be an exceptionally important person in Kuma’s life and ever since her introduction, her eventual fate has been up for debate. One Piece chapter 1097 gave fans some more clues into what happened to this character later down the line.
Ginny’s Past
Ginny was a slave from a very young age. It is believed that she became a slave at the age of 9 and, from that day onwards, she was abused by the Celestial Dragons every single day. Somehow, she ended up finding Ivankov, who she made her big brother. Ginny and Ivankov made a beautiful bond together and it was clear to see that both of them had the fire of rebellion in their eyes. Even though they had terrible lives, Ginny and Ivankov actually seemed very happy together. They both seemed hopeful all the time, and characters such as Kuma were down in depressed. Of course, Kuma had every right to feel the way that he did but these two characters had way too much of an optimistic look towards life. They knew that they were going to break free and they certainly accomplished that, which is absolutely incredible.
To take things a step further, their positivity actually rubbed off on Kuma as well when they met in God Valley for the very first time. Ginny, specifically, was the architect of their escape from God Valley. This is because she was revealed to be an extremely capable girl when it comes to gathering intel and other technological stuff. Ginny leaked the news of the Native Hunting Games and its rewards to the outside world, which led to the biggest of pirate crews coming to God Valley and, at this time, this group of slaves ended up using this to their advantage. Thankfully, due to Kuma’s ability, nearly 500 slaves managed to escape from the island, with Kuma, Ginny, and Ivankov being sent to the Sorbet Kingdom in the South Blue.
Ginny Joins The Revolutionary Army
In the South Blue, the group of Kuma, Ginny, and Ivankov somewhat split up. Ivankov decided to go his own way and travel the whole world in search of liberation and freedom. Meanwhile, Kuma and Ginny started their own life in the Sorbet Kingdom. They started working together and chopped wood to sell, which gave them enough money to afford good food. For the first time in their lives, they ate until their bellies were full and they continued their work to the point where Kuma ended up becoming a pastor and Ginny grew stronger to protect him. The two did what little they could do and, eventually, acquired enough money to make their lives even better.
Of course, for both Kuma and Ginny, looking after the people around them was exceptionally important. Ginny, even though tough on the outside, still cared for every single person in the south of the Sorbet Kingdom. However, she certainly did not like that their well-being was coming at the cost of Kuma sacrificing his own. Eventually, when things started getting worse, Kuma and Ginny found themselves in trouble and were locked up. It was Dragon and Ivankov who came to their rescue and, with that, these two characters joined the Revolutionary Army, which became their home after this particular event.

Both Kuma and Ginny acquired a very important position within the Revolutionary Army. Kuma became one of the founding members of the group, alongside Ivankov and Dragon. Meanwhile, Ginny also gained a very important position, which is the East Army Commander. Fans know that the East Army is being commanded by none other than Belo Betty right now in the series. This only means that Ginny met a very terrible fate of some sort or willingly left the Revolutionary Army, which opened the space for Betty to take on the same role later down the line.
How Ginny Got Kidnapped
In One Piece chapter 1097, it was revealed to the fans that Ginny ended up getting kidnapped somehow. She was taken by surprise when their group were starting to prepare in an attempt to go on their latest mission. Ginny, as fans know, was the commander of the East Army of the Revolutionary Army. This means that she was somewhere in the East Blue when something happened to her and the men who were surrounding her. Ginny was simply talking to her man about meeting up with Kumachi as he certainly meant quite a lot to her. The entire group was very happy to get the opportunity to meet up with Kuma once again.
However, unfortunately for them, someone decided to take them by surprise and ambushed them. Fans do not know exactly what happened here and how it happened, however, what they do know is the fact that Ginny ended up being successfully kidnapped. News of this event reached Baltigo, which was the Revolutionary Army headquarters for the longest time. Dragon is then seen lamenting the fact that Ginny got kidnapped and this only means that a rescue operation will be underway very soon in One Piece chapter 1098. Fans are eagerly waiting to see Ginny get rescued, however, it is clear that she could end up meeting a very terrible fate very soon.
Will Ginny Die?
Ginny is in real danger and every One Piece fan knows that. However, the question of whether she will die after this kidnapping or not is a tricky one. It is possible that Ginny will be saved on this occasion. This is because fans know that Kuma and Ginny likely develop their relationship even further. They even have a daughter together and that is Bonney. As long as the daughter is an actual biological child, then, Kuma and Ginny will have more moments to spend together, at the very least, and that suggests that Ginny will not be dying after this kidnapping and will likely be rescued later down the line.
However, when talking about her survival overall, the chances for that are pretty low. While Ginny might not die on this particular occasion, the chances of this character dying later down the line are very high. Something will likely happen to Ginny and she might end up dying or, might be faced with an even worse fate. This is clear from the fact that Ginny is nowhere to be seen in the Revolutionary Army in the current timeline. Furthermore, her position as the East Army Commander has been taken over by Belo Betty. This only means that Ginny is not able to continue her job for some reason. Either she died or she ended up getting captured by the Celestial Dragons and is living her life in captivity. Fans do not know exactly what happens to this character from here onwards, however, Oda will surely answer these questions very soon.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1097, is set to be November 5, 2023.
