Monkey D. Luffy is the main protagonist of One Piece. As the hero, he has been constantly involved in high-octane fights. Most of the time, Luffy has successfully beaten his opponents without relying on the help of others.
However, there have been instances where the protagonist has struggled to get the better of his enemies. So, Luffy had to seek the help of his friends and even his rivals to beat certain characters. Needless to say, Luffy’s journey would have come to an end if he hadn’t received the necessary support.

Luffy struggled quite a bit against Arlong, but most of his problems were his own doing. He got carried away, and one of his attacks caused his feet to be stuck in the ground, leaving him at Arlong’s mercy. In order to save him, Sanji had to go underwater and fight Kuroobi. If it weren’t for him, Arlong would have beaten Luffy easily.

Moria fought Luffy in the Thriller Bark arc. The Shichibukai took control of Oars’ massive body, which made it almost impossible to damage him. So Luffy had to get help from all of his crew members. Together, they managed to weaken Moria enough, which enabled Luffy to finish him off.

The biggest highlight of the arc was the fight between Doflamingo and Luffy. The latter debuted his Gear 4th in the fight, and it helped him to overwhelm Doflamingo. However, Luffy’s lack of control and stamina caused Gear 4th to run out, leaving him completely vulnerable. Thankfully, Sabo and other fighters from the Colosseum were around, and they protected the hero until he had fully recovered. Once Luffy regained his strength, he wasted no time in taking down Doflamingo.

It is safe to say that Luffy wouldn’t have escaped from Impel Down alive.
