Ever since Eustass Kid appeared on Sabaody Archipelago, One Piece fans have drawn parallels between him and Monkey D. Luffy. At the time of his introduction, Kid had an impressive bounty of 315 million berries, making him the Supernova with the highest bounty. This sparked many debates within the community, most of them about how he could be Luffy’s closest rival in the future.
Kid and his crew entered the New World before the Straw Hat Pirates, but they were unable to accomplish anything noteworthy. In fact, Kid lost his arm in a duel against Ben Beckman. Kid made another significant appearance in the Dressrosa arc, where he was seen talking to Apoo and Hawkins about an alliance to bring down Kaido. However, the Yonko landed on the same island as them and ruthlessly beat up Kid and Killer.
A Second Chance At Redemption
Kid Fought Big Mom And Kaido With The Worst Generation
After being mauled by Kaido, Kid ended up in a prison in Wano. He remained there until Luffy broke him out. Once Kid was freed, he allied with Law and Luffy to take down Big Mom and Kaido. When the Worst Generation reached the rooftop to fight the two Yonko, they were easily overwhelmed. Big Mom and Kaido covered each other’s weaknesses nicely, making it impossible to beat them. With no other option remaining, they decided to separate the two as they believed it would give them a fighting chance.
Luffy remained on the roof to fight Kaido, while Law and Kid faced Big Mom. Luffy had a herculean task ahead of him, but he was not deterred by the magnitude of it. Kid and Law were also facing a dangerous foe, but they had the numerical advantage. The two young pirates tried everything in their arsenal to hurt Big Mom, but she was mostly unscathed. It was only when they used their Devil Fruit awakenings that Big Mom came under duress. The two Supernovas were handed a major boost as Big Mom did not use her Haki. After struggling for a while, Law and Kid were victorious. Luffy also defeated Kaido after a grueling battle. Once the war ended, all three Supernovas got new bounties. They were given bounties of 3 billion berries, which seemed rather odd considering how Law and Kid had to team up to beat Big Mom. Only Luffy defeated his opponent in 1v1.
Arriving At The Battlefield
Kid Was humiliated By Shanks
In addition to his high bounty, Luffy was also named one of the Yonko, becoming the youngest recipient of the title. Luffy’s induction into the Yonko angered Kid, as he believed that he was on the same level as him. However, things did not escalate any further, and all three Worst Generation crews went their separate ways. The Straw Hats headed to Egghead Island, the Heart Pirates to Winner Island, and the Kid Pirates went to Elbaf.
Unfortunately for Law, he was subjected to an ambush by the Blackbeard Pirates, who wanted to take the Road Poneglyphs. So, the two pirate crews clashed near Winner Island. So far, a winner has not been announced, but it seems unlikely that the Heart Pirates will be able to overcome this hurdle. Meanwhile, Kid and his crew went to Elbaf in search of the man with the burn scars, whom they believed could guide them to the One Piece. As they drew nearer to the nation of giants, they realized that they had to face the Red Hair Pirates. The Yonko had placed the island under his protection to ward off any potential threats.
Failing Again
As Shanks and his allies learned of Kid’s presence near the waters of Elbaf, they immediately got into position to fight. The allies decided to surround the Supernova, who was not pleased with the behavior. Enraged by their insolence, Kid formed a cannon to use Damned Punk. In his mind, the attack would be sufficient to wipe out the fleet with very few problems. But before he could launch the attack, Shanks used his Future Sight and intercepted with a move of his own. Shanks used Divine Departure, which not only destroyed the weapon but also sent Eustass Kid flying into the mast of the ship. The attack even engulfed Killer, who had tried to help out his captain.
The other members of the Kid Pirates handed over the Road Poneglyphs to Shanks in exchange for letting their captain live. Shanks took off with the rubbings, after which Dorry and Brogy unleashed a mighty attack, destroying the Victoria Punk. In a few minutes, Kid lost the battle, his Road Poneglyphs, and even his ship. This was a humiliating loss for Kid, one that he cannot bounce back from.
One Piece fans know for a fact that Luffy would not go out like Kid. He fought Kaido on his own and gained the upper hand before Guernica’s intervention. Even after sustaining a devastating blow, Luffy got up and crushed the tyrant. It is safe to say that there isn’t much difference between Kaido and Shanks, so Luffy would not struggle like Kid. With Kid’s loss, the rivalry is done and dusted.
