Highlights
- The Cross Guild, initially conceived by Crocodile and Mihawk, was overtaken by Buggy’s underlings, causing displeasure and potential conflict between them.
- The organization plans to make Buggy the public face of the Cross Guild to divert attention and consequences from their own actions.
- Several notable characters, including Doflamingo, Edward Weevil, and Vista, could potentially join the Cross Guild in the future, adding strength and protection to the organization.
The Cross Guild is one of the most powerful organizations in One Piece. Crocodile and Mihawk came up with the idea for the organization, but Buggy’s underlings hijacked it. Mihawk and Crocodile were not pleased by Buggy’s interference. They would have killed him, but decided against it after weighing their options.
They thought it would be better if the World Government thought that Buggy was the head of the organization, as he would end up suffering the brunt of their actions. Currently, the Cross Guild has very few noteworthy characters, but that might change in the future. There is a strong chance that several One Piece characters may end up joining the Cross Guild.
7 Donquixote Doflamingo
The Fallen Celestial Dragon Needs Help To Escape
Doflamingo used to rule over Dressrosa until Luffy defeated him and ended his reign. He is a very strong character who is endowed with the power of the Ito Ito no Mi. It is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to create and control strings.
Since Doflamingo is still in prison, it is almost impossible for him to escape on his own, especially with Magellan keeping guard. But if the Cross Guild attacks Impel Down, then they will definitely free the former Shichibukai, after which he may join the organization. This could end up as a throwback to the Marineford arc, where Doflamingo offered Crocodile a chance to work together, but the next time, the roles will be reversed.
6 Edward Weevil
Needs Better Protection For His Mother
Edward Weevil is the self-proclaimed son of a Whitebeard. He was introduced after the time-skip as one of the new Shichibukai. Edward Weevil is not the smartest person, but he possesses an insane amount of strength, which was compared to that of a young Whitebeard. Weevil was last seen on Sphinx Island, trying to defend his father’s home.
Unfortunately, he was taken away by a frustrated Ryokugyu. Naturally, a pirate of his caliber couldn’t be allowed to roam freely, so he was taken to Impel Down. Given Weevil’s sacrifice for the people of Sphinx, it is possible that Marco will help Stussy free Weevil. Then mother and son could join the Cross Guild for added protection.
5 Boa Hancock
Has To Find Powerful Allies For The Sake Of Amazon Lily
Boa Hancock is the empress of the Kuja and the captain of their pirate crew. Hancock is an immensely talented fighter whose strength has been acknowledged many times by other people, including Sengoku, Koby, and Blackbeard.
Hancock is not known for working with other people, but given the fact that she is no longer a Shichibukai, she might have to. While she has the option to join the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, it would sideline her character. So, it is better if she teams up with the former Shichibukai in the Cross Guild.
4 Gecko Moria
Wants To Re-establish Himself
Despite being introduced so early in the series, Gecko Moria is still relevant to the story. Moria traveled to Hachinosu to find Absalom, but instead, he was ambushed by the Blackbeard Pirates and subsequently captured. He managed to escape during the ruckus caused by Koby. It is likely that Moria reunited with Perona, who was also on the island.
Even after his poor display in the story, Moria’s pride is still intact, and he wouldn’t want to just sit idly by while the entire world is changing. It is too late for him to do something with his own crew, so it is much better if he joins the former Shichibukai in the Cross Guild.
3 Bon Clay
Needs A Bigger Role In The Final Saga
Bon Clay is one of the most loved characters in One Piece. He was originally a villain who tried to stop the Straw Hats from taking down Crocodile. Toward the end of the arc, Bon Clay changed his mind, and he helped them escape from Hina. He played a crucial role in the Impel Down arc, where he saved Luffy from death and sacrificed himself so that the hero would safely escape.
Since then, Bon Clay has remained in captivity, but that may very well change in the Final Saga. If the Cross Guild attacks Impel Down, it is very likely that Bon Clay might join his old Baroque Works comrades. While Bon Clay may not be a great combatant, his dedication is second to none.
2 Perona
Due A Comeback
Perona is one of the more interesting side characters in the story. Kuma sent Perona to the Kuraigana Islands, and she remained with Mihawk until the Shichibukai system was abolished. After leaving the island, she went to find her old captain, Gecko Moria.
While she wouldn’t want to join the Cross Guild on her own, it is possible that she may change her mind if Moria decides to become a member. Perona has one of the most overpowered abilities in the series, which allows her to rob an individual of their fighting spirit. This power seems to bypass Haki, making Perona a great addition to any crew.
1 Vista
Deserves More Screen Time
Vista served as the fifth Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. He fought against Dracule Mihawk in the Marineford arc on an even footing. Mihawk even complimented Vista’s swordsmanship. Considering Vista was a part of the Whitebeard Pirates for a very long time, he has presumably fought powerful characters.
Like most of the Whitebeard Pirates, Vista disappeared after the time-skip and his current whereabouts remain unknown. If Oda wants to bring back Vista, getting him to join the Cross Guild would be a great idea.
