One Piece chapter 1102 is just around the corner and fans are incredibly excited for the manga to return from its 2 week break. Finally, fans will get to see the continuation of the already incredible Kuma flashback and, with each passing chapter, this flashback is now edging closer to its end.
One Piece chapter 1102 is going to be absolutely massive in that regard and the first batch of spoilers for the chapter have now officially dropped, courtesy of the Jump Festa 2024 stage for One Piece. These spoilers cannot be considered leaks, since they are released from the official sources itself so, fans can go on and enjoy them without any trouble whatsoever.
Luffy Defeats Arlong
One Piece chapter 1102 will be taking place in the same timeline as the beginning of the story. Previously, fans saw that the flashback was covering events one year prior to the beginning of the story. With this chapter, it appears that the story is now set in the same age as the beginning of the series, where Luffy is 17 years old. This is evident from the major events that take place in the world of One Piece, such as Luffy defeating Arlong. Fans get to see a picture of Ace showcasing Luffy’s very first bounty to the Whitebeard Pirates. Fans get to see Whitebeard’s ship as well, and Ace shows Luffy’s poster to Jinbe. Jinbe is surprised to know that Luffy was able to defeat Arlong and dismantle his iron fist over the East Blue.
This is somewhat of a nice touch, especially knowing that Jinbe later goes on to join the Straw Hat Pirates himself. By this point in the story, Luffy himself has become the meanest man in the east, acquiring a 30 million berry bounty. Fans have also seen a glimpse of this around the Paramount War arc in a small Ace flashback, where he goes around the Whitebeard Pirates showing Luffy’s first bounty poster to everyone.
Dragon Saves Luffy
At the same time, One Piece chapter 1102 will also showcase an interesting conversation between Sabo and Dragon. Knowing that Luffy got his first major bounty, Dragon will set out to the sea to aid his son. Dragon asks Sabo who watches over Loguetown and the answer to that question is, of course, Smoker. Dragon realizes that Luffy might not be able to escape from Loguetown and, as a result, heads to the island self. Fans know that in chapter 100 of One Piece, Dragon saves Luffy from Smoker in Loguetown and fans get to see exactly how and why Dragon decided to do that. This has become a very interesting tie-in to chapter 100 that fans will surely get to appreciate.
Kuma himself is also seen reacting to Luffy’s first bounty and he’s wondering to himself what Dragon would think about his son becoming a pirate and setting out to the sea. Kuma is quite happy about Luffy’s first bounty and, as fans know, this later comes into play when he goes to Thriller Bark and tests the crew for himself. It is clear from this chapter that Kuma has been closely monitoring the journey of the Straw Hat Pirates.
Bonney Sets Out To The Sea
Ironically, One Piece chapter 1102 also features Kuma’s very own daughter setting out of the sea. Prior to this, fans get to see Kuma talking to himself and wondering what Dragon would think about his own child becoming a pirate. Immediately after, in an ironic turn of events, Kuma’s very own child, Bonney sets out of the sea as well. This is somewhat funny, however, at the same time, just goes to show how determined Bonney is to rescuing her father. Bonney starts the Bonney Pirates and with her terrific crew, she has now taken the appearance of a proper adult.
She now has the same design that fans know her to have. She wears lipstick along with a piercing. According to her, this piercing is so that her father can recognize her properly. The lipstick, in her words, is to make her look more like an adult. Bonney then decides to make a pirate crew that will steal, however, only from the bad guys.
At the same time, she also announces that her pirate crew will not help anyone, except for those who are truly in need. It can be seen that Bonney is very nice at heart and her pirate crew is somewhat similar in terms of ideals to the Straw Hat Pirates in that they might be pirates, but they are a kind-hearted bunch of people.
Kuma Flashback Edges Closer To Its End
With One Piece chapter 1102, it is beyond the shadow of a doubt that this flashback is now going to conclude very soon. This flashback is already covering the events of pre-timeskip One Piece and that means maybe one more chapter will likely see its conclusion. It must be remembered that this flashback covers Kuma’s very own memories along with Bonney’s and, it is a known fact that Kuma lost his memory prior to the Paramount War Saga. This means that this flashback will likely end Kuma’s memories around the next chapter or, potentially, even in One Piece 1102. The remainder of the flashback could be through Bonney’s eyes and fans might get to see her being captured by Akainu and, later on, see how she escaped.
No matter what approach this story takes from here onwards, it is clear that the Kuma flashback is ending, and One Piece chapter 1102 is the beginning of the end for this flashback. This means that the Straw Hat Pirates will soon return and exciting battles will start taking place on Egghead Island very soon.
Fans should keep in mind that Kuma is currently headed to Egghead Island and this means that a father-child reunion is going to happen very soon. At the same time, it is also quite clear for the fans to see that the Straw Hat Pirates will reunite with Kuma as well. He was the one who separated them on the island of Sabaody and, while it was a mystery at that point, now, the answers will be out in the open for everyone. It is up to Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates to save Kuma and Bonney here and, then, break through the siege on Egghead and head to freedom. The Final Saga of One Piece is getting more interesting with each passing chapter and, naturally, fans are very excited to see what direction it takes.
Sadly, fans will have to wait a bit more for the flashback to conclude because One Piece will likely be heading on a few breaks from the magazine itself, due to the busy holiday period. That said, Oda has already confirmed that the Egghead Island arc will conclude in 2024 and that the Straw Hat Pirates will head to a new destination.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. Since One Piece is going to be on break, the release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1102, is set to be December 25, 2023.
