One Piece hit yet another milestone with chapter 1100 earlier today and this chapter was certainly an interesting one. The vast majority of the fanbase expected this One Piece chapter to be massive and somewhat on the same scale as chapter 1000, however, there was definitely not any basis for that expectation and, at the same time, fans could easily have predicted what the chapter was going to be about by glancing at the chapters proceeding this one.
One Piece: Why Kuma Visited Foosha Village, Explained
This is why Kuma visited Foosha village in One Piece.
That is certainly not to say that One Piece chapter 1100 wasn’t interesting. It propelled Kuma’s story forward in a very intriguing manner and also delivered some exciting bits here and there, along with a massive shock at the end of the chapter.
Kuma And Saturn’s Deal
One of the biggest parts of One Piece chapter 1100 was centered around Kuma and Saturn. Fans know that Saturn was eavesdropping on the conversation between Kuma and Vegapunk in the previous chapter. This was only made possible because Vegapunk did not know he was under surveillance, but someone as smart as him should really have figured it out. Regardless, Saturn made it known that he had all the information about the secret deal that they struck and made it clear to Vegapunk that helping criminals like Kuma would be damaging to the World Government.
As such, Saturn came up with a better proposal. According to him, Kuma would be inducted to the Seven Warlords of the Sea and, through that, he will be allowed to cure Bonney. Of course, there was more than just that to the deal. Kuma would have to give himself up to become the human weapon called the Pacifista and, what’s more, he would also have all of his memories erased so that he exists solely for the purpose of the World Government. This was akin to murder for Vegapunk and he did not want to proceed with this plan, however, Kuma was going to do anything possible to cure Bonney’s disease and that is something that fans have seen over the last few chapters already. Kuma willingly agreed to this idea and, thus, the hardest part of Kuma’s life began.
Bonney’s Cure
Immediately after a deal was struck with Kuma, it was made clear how long it would take to cure Bonney’s disease and how long it would take for Kuma to turn into a human weapon. For Bonney’s disease, the process was said to be complicated, however, it was said the process would take around 6 months to complete. Then, there would be a rehabilitation time, which would go on for one year. Overall, it would take a year and a half for Bonney to cure her disease. As for Kuma, the process of turning him into a cyborg would take 2 years, which would mean that he would have to stay on Egghead for 6 more months.
One Piece 1101: What To Expect From The Chapter
Kuma will be meeting a younger Luffy in One Piece 1101.
However, Kuma would immediately be made a member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and he would be asked to carry on his duties diligently. In the meanwhile, Bonney would be kept as a prisoner of the World Government under the watchful eye of CP8, just in case Kuma were to misbehave. It was quite clear for the fans to see that this was a hellish agreement for Kuma, however, because it was the only way to save Bonney, he willingly agreed, even crying at being given the opportunity to save his daughter. This was certainly a touching moment for the fans and only elevates the character of Kuma in their eyes.
Kuma’s Introduction To The Shichibukai
One Piece chapter 1100 finally saw Kuma become a Shichibukai. This is something that fans were expecting to happen at some point in this flashback, given that becoming a servant of the World Government was one of the biggest things that happened to Kuma in his life. The World Government wanted to use Kuma to deter other pirates and given that he is a Buccaneer and also very strong, it only makes sense why they would want to have him as a warrior. At the same time, people like Saturn wanted to continue hurting Kuma and make him a proper slave even if he wasn’t in chains exactly. To the rest of the world, Kuma becoming a Shichibukai was a big talking point. Fans got to see the reaction of all the major powers in the One Piece world looking at the news and reacting to it.
Other Shichibukai were in the chapter making their thoughts known on Kuma becoming a member of this order and, at the same time, fans also got to see Dragon and the other revolutionaries react to this news, which was only expected. Kuma then went on to carry out his duties diligently and, in the meanwhile, Bonney was back in the Sorbet Kingdom, where her rehabilitation was being carried out. Meanwhile, Kuma continued the process of his transformation on Egghead and fans know that this process continued for quite a while, until it finally completed before the Paramount War.
Kuma In Foosha Village
Quite easily, the biggest part of One Piece chapter 1100 came towards the end, when Kuma finally wrote a letter to Bonney and delivered it to her. While writing this letter, Kuma was sailing in seas that the fans aren’t too unfamiliar with. To put it simply, Kuma was seen sailing around Foosha Village, which fans know to be Luffy’s hometown. As to why he would be there, fans don’t really have any idea just yet. Around the same time, Kuma received an order from the World Government and the fans do not know what this order is just yet. However, it cannot be related to Foosha Village itself, because Kuma was already there before he even received an order.
By all means, it appears that Kuma was there on his own and that he was planning something other than what the World Government wanted from him. One Piece chapter 1100 will likely focus on this aspect of the story and that has fans very excited. Fans also got to see Luffy on Mount Corvo behind Foosha Village and it is possible that these two characters might end up meeting very soon. Whatever Oda does from here onwards, fans are certain that Kuma’s flashback won’t last for too long. In the next few chapters, Kuma and his tragedy will finally be made public to the fans and, following that, the story can return to the present timeline in the Egghead arc.
The climax of the Egghead Island arc is now approaching very fast and fans are very excited to see where the story goes when the Egghead War is focused once again. Thankfully, One Piece is not on break and will get a third consecutive chapter next week. However, fans should fully expect the manga to go on a break following that and, a string of breaks to follow around the new year and the holiday period.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1101, is set to be December 10, 2023.
