One Piece is considered by many to be focused on humor. However, the truth is, there are many instances that show there is a much darker side to the story. The so-called World Government is ruthless, and it will target anyone for personal gain. There is also the threat of pirates and other criminals who do not shy away from attacking the innocent and taking away their money.

To combat these evils, some characters take matters into their own hands and try to help those in need. They are nothing short of heroes who have helped tons of innocent people get rid of tyrants. With that in mind, here are the biggest heroes in One Piece who have made an everlasting impact on the story.

Sabo joined the Revolutionary Army when he was still a child. He was trained by Monkey D. Dragon, Bartholomew Kuma, and the other officers of the organization. Sabo gained a great deal of reputation in very little time. He has actively participated in many important missions that have helped the Revolutionary Army increase its influence.

Sabo is a talented fighter who can use Ryusoken and combine it with the Mera Mera no Mi. After the success of the Revolutionary Army in Marijoa, Sabo's reputation increased tenfold. He was given the title of Flame Emperor by the people because of his contribution. He even tried to save Cobra from Imu and the Five Elders by risking his own life.

5 Monkey D. Garp

Monkey D. Garp was a Marine vice admiral who had the reputation of being the strongest Marine in history. Garp was the only Marine who could compete against the likes of Roger, Whitebeard, and Shiki. He did not have any Devil Fruit powers, but he specialized in Haki.

Garp was one of the main reasons behind the victory of the Marines against the Rocks Pirates. He and Roger saved the Celestial Dragons and the other people in God Valley. In addition to his success there, Garp helped many innocent people in their times of hardship.

Nika is a legendary character who existed many centuries before the current timeline. It is very likely that Nika was from the Ancient Kingdom, and he played a significant role in the battle against the twenty countries. According to legends, Nika was loved by people, especially those in distress. He would put smiles on the faces of people.

It is safe to assume that Nika was the biggest hero of his time, and without his help, people would have no hope to cling to. As the warrior of liberation, Nika had great strength, which he used to beat villainous individuals.

3 Monkey D. Dragon

Savior Of Countless Nations

Monkey D. Dragon is the leader of the Revolutionary Army. He used to be a part of the Marines but left the organization after seeing their corrupt ways. He started the Freedom Fighters in hopes of helping the people deal with oppressive regimes. However, the massacre in Ohara completely changed him. He realized that his approach was too soft and wouldn't help him change the world.

This led him to start the Revolutionary Army, which was more proactive and willing to get its hands dirty for the sake of the world. Dragon and his fellow Revolutionary Army members helped many nations overthrow their rulers and establish better governments. So there is absolutely no doubt that Dragon is one of the biggest heroes in One Piece.

2 Monkey D. Luffy

Luffy is the main protagonist of One Piece. He is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the Yonko. In his short career as a pirate, Luffy has done many extraordinary things. Not long after entering the Grand Line, he took down Crocodile and saved Alabasta from complete destruction. He also saved the people of Skypiea from Enel. In the Sabaody arc, Luffy punched a Celestial Dragon who shot one of his friends. He was responsible for taking down Doflamingo and saving the people of Dressrosa. His most recent success came in Wano, where he beat Kaido and liberated the country. There is no denying that Luffy is en route to becoming the greatest hero in history, but for now, he has to settle for the second spot.

1 Bartholomew Kuma

Most Selfless Hero

Bartholomew Kuma is one of the best-written One Piece characters. Initially, he appeared as a laconic individual who did not have any noteworthy features. However, after the Egghead arc, it has become clear that he is the biggest hero in the story.

Kuma has lived a tragic life. Ever since he was a kid, he has experienced nothing but heartbreak. He lost his parents, his lover, and then his daughter. Yet Kuma never gave up and tried to help all those around him. He single-handedly crushed the forces of King Bekori and saved all the old people in the south of the Sorbet Kingdom. Furthermore, he aided the Revolutionary Army many times in their missions. Bartholomew Kuma even protected Monkey D. Luffy and his crew from utter annihilation. Needless to say, without his help, the story would have come to an end much earlier.
