The Sandman series has resumed production for its highly anticipated second season, and fans of the DC Comics adaptation can expect an expanded cast. Based on Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed graphic novel series, which debuted over three decades ago, the Netflix original continues to captivate audiences. Excitement mounts as The Sandman Season 2 introduces pivotal characters like Destiny, Delirium, and The Prodigal from the Endless family. Adding to the buzz, Netflix has announced another major casting for the fantasy saga’s next chapter, drawing keen interest from Game of Thrones fans.

Netflix has recently unveiled a slew of fresh faces set to grace the highly anticipated second season of The Sandman. Among the standout additions is the esteemed Jack Gleeson, renowned for his infamous portrayal of King Joffrey Baratheon in HBO’s Game of Thrones. Gleeson is confirmed to take on the role of Puck, described as “a malevolent hobgoblin who serves as the royal jester to King Auberon of Faerie. Puck is fascinated by mortals and enjoys nothing more than making sport of them for his own amusement. He’s also the inspiration for Shakespeare’s Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” This marks a significant return to the spotlight for Gleeson, who has taken on a few roles since his memorable stint on Game of Thrones concluded in 2014. He also starred in Sex Education and CBBC’s The Famous Five.

Gleeson joins a lineup of new faces in the upcoming season of The Sandman, including Ann Skelly from The Nevers as Nuala and Douglas Booth from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies as Clurucan, royal emissaries from the Faerie court. Despite their close bond, Nuala is portrayed as the responsible sibling, contrasting with Clurucan, a daring rogue who thrives on pleasure. Ruairi O’Connor, known for The Morning Show, takes on the role of Orpheus, a poet and oracle who learns harsh truths about love. Indya Moore from Aquaman 2 stars as Wanda, a pivotal figure during an epic journey in the waking world. Freddie Fox, from The Great, embodies the mischievous god Loki, described as charming but dangerously unpredictable, and Laurence O’Fuarain, of The Witcher: Blood Origin fame, portrays Thor, a deity known for his appetites and divine hammer. Clive Russell, from Ripper Street, plays Loki’s brother, who faces dire choices to prevent Ragnarök, and Steve Coogan rounds out the ensemble as Barnabas, the Endless’ outspoken canine companion. Together with previously announced cast members, including Esme Creed-Miles, Adrian Lester, and Barry Sloane, the upcoming season promises new depths to explore.

The show centers on Sandman, also known as Dream (played by Tom Sturridge), ruler of The Dreaming, a mystical realm where all dreams and nightmares reside. This powerful cosmic entity controls the realm of dreams. Upon escaping a century-long captivity, Dream embarks on a journey across various worlds and timelines to rectify the chaos caused by his absence. The Sandman is joined by his siblings — Death, Desire, Despair, and others — collectively known as The Endless, personifications of their respective domains. The returning ensemble includes Gwendoline Christie, Steven Fry, Jenna Coleman, Ferdinand Kingsley, Vanesu Samunyai, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Asim Chaudhry, and Razane Jammal.

Netflix has yet to announce the release date or window for The Sandman Season 2.
