Naruto: Sasuke’s Best Friends, Ranked

Sasuke Uchiha is difficult to get along with and has very few close friends. He has done some horrendous things in the name of getting revenge on his brother, Itachi, but ultimately gets a resolution he didn’t really ask for. Although many of the people he met along the way were allies seeking a means to an end, Sasuke actually ended up making some meaningful connections and friendships.

Despite being pretty brutal to a lot of the people who cared about him, Sasuke managed to reconcile his relationships in the end, connecting with new friends and old ones alike. Now, in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Sasuke has a family and friends that can depend on him when things get tough.

WARNING! Spoilers ahead.

A Friend Of The Family

After Sasuke gathers his team following the death of Orochimaru, he visits Nekobaa and asks her to give him supplies. There he states that her family has been supporting the Uchiha’s for many years and that she has known Sasuke since he was little.

Though their friendship might be just mutually supporting each other when they can, Nekobaa is an underrated friend of Sasuke’s who needs more recognition for being there for him when he has nowhere else to turn.

7 Ino

A Long Time Friend

While Ino may have had a long-time crush on Sasuke, she eventually falls for Sai, leaving room for Sakura and Sasuke to get together. Because of this, Ino becomes a close friend of Sakura and Sasuke’s in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

Further, Ino forgives Sasuke for all that he did as a child and teenager, making her one of his best friends from the start.

6 Karin

Sasuke’s Life Support

Karin meets Sasuke while they are both working under Orochimaru. Their powers are compatible, with his Sharingan and speed, and her ability to sense chakra and heal with her blood, it makes sense that they work so well together as a team. When Sasuke forms Hebi, he chooses Karin to join despite the protests of Suigetsu, and she becomes integral to the functioning of Hebi.

While her feelings for him are a bit obsessive and definitely romantic, she proves herself a good ally and friend to Sasuke, even gifting his daughter a pair of glasses to help with her vision.

5 Itachi

A Watchful Brother

Although they are brothers, Itachi was Sasuke’s first friend and rival, giving Sasuke something to aspire to when he was a child. Itachi helped Sasuke train when he could, took him hunting, and even piggybacked him when he trained too hard. Unfortunately, things turned sour, and they were estranged for quite some time.

When Itachi died, he saved Sasuke from Orochimaru’s curse mark, and later Sasuke learned of the real reason Itachi slaughtered the Uchiha Clan. When he is resurrected, Itachi and Sasuke reconcile and end up fighting Kabuto as friends, allies, and brothers.

4 Suigetsu

The First Member Of Hebi

Suigetsu is the first member of Sasuke’s team Hebi. Though their initial meeting was slightly hostile, as Suigetsu didn’t want to follow behind someone he thought was unworthy of his following, Sasuke quickly proved his strength. Together, they faced many foes and grew closer.

Suigetsu eventually became one of Sasuke’s closest friends, offering some comedic relief when necessary, and having Sasuke’s back always.

3 Jugo

The Person Sasuke Freed

Jugo is the closest member to Sasuke in team Hebi as he entrusted Sasuke with being his “cage”. He allows Sasuke to use a genjutsu to keep him calm whenever his curse acts up. In doing so, Sasuke and Jugo’s bond is unbreakable, with Jugo even tending to Sasuke when he’s injured after his fight with Deidara.

Jugo had a difficult, isolated life, and Sasuke freed him from it with his ability to relax Jugo. This makes Jugo a reliable ally and friend to Sasuke.

2 Sakura

A Wife And Confidant

Sakura might be Sasuke’s wife, but she’s also his friend, teammate, and mother to their daughter. Sakura’s feelings for Sasuke started in childhood, and when they were made allies on Team 7 they grew closer to each other. When Sasuke left, Sakura was devastated about losing her friend, but she never gave up on him.

Now, in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Sakura is Sasuke’s life partner. Sakura forgave Sasuke for leaving and continues to forgive him for being away so often. She is a great wife and friend to Sasuke, pushing him to open up more and be romantic even without being explicit about it. He is a better person because of her.

1 Naruto

Best Friends And Brother In Arms

images/news/2023/11/12/naruto-sasukes-best-friends-ranked_8.jpg

Naruto and Sasuke’s friendship started off as an epic rivalry between a genius and someone with great stamina and work ethic. This rivalry grew into a friendship in which Sasuke admitted Naruto was his best friend, before leaving Naruto for, what seemed like, good. Although they were distant for years, Naruto never stopped believing that Sasuke could be brought back to his home in The Hidden Leaf Village.

During their final fight, the two fought as hard as they could, with Sasuke eventually conceding after they both lost a hand to the battle. In doing this, he admitted that Naruto was right all along, and accepted that he would finally call The Leaf home again. Naruto’s bond with Sasuke is undeniably strong.
