My Hero Academia chapter 424 has finally dropped officially as the series marks its return from a 2-week-long break. This week’s chapter was one that fans held their breath for, because as the war wrapped up, fans were wondering if the story was going to wrap up.

Thankfully, it appears that the author wants to focus on the aftermath of the war, which means My Hero Academia is set to continue and, at the same time, fans are in for a lot of exciting developments in the story going on, starting with My Hero Academia chapter 424.

The End Of The War

Fans Are Taken To A Week After The War’s End

Of course, My Hero Academia chapter 424 was always going to pick up right from where the last one left off. Not in the sense that the chapter from Deku landing his punch, but the aftermath of that punch is what was focused on as soon as the chapter opened. Fans were taken to the United States of America at the beginning of the chapter, with the weather report there suggesting that the Deku’s punch actually caused the weather to change, and led the winds to drastically shift. In fact, the punch was so powerful that the change in currents actually reached the United States as well, which meant that for a week, the weather there was erratic as well.

Yes, the gust that blew that day came in the wake of a great battle. Stay tuned for updates on what sort of effects we’ll be seeing from now on!

Finally, after a week, the sky appeared to have cleared up. At the same time, this chapter highlighted the unity between heroes of different nations a bit more than fans expected. For instance, the United States had sent some of their strongest Heroes to Japan in order to help with the rebuild. Following suit, many other countries did the same, and Japan was being rebuilt at an incredibly fast pace. In Japan itself, fans got to see the Hero Society being rebuilt, and this meant that Heroes with incredible Quirks were at it right from the very beginning of the chapter. Some old houses were re-erected, while massive buildings were being tested for safety. All these things are very important as far as worldbuilding goes, and fans know that adhering to the laws of a particular story is absolutely necessary in many regards.

It is good to see Horikoshi pay attention to these small details while writing his story and it might not be the flashiest of things, but it certainly helps add a touch of reality to the world itself, which is something that every fan craves from their story.

The Losses Faced Along The Way

Deku And Bakugo Faced Many Losses In MHA

Quite easily, the biggest part of My Hero Academia this week was pertaining to characters such as Bakugo and Deku. These two individuals were focused on quite a lot in this week’s chapter, and that was to be expected. Bakugo and Deku were the two stars of the war. Of course, while one can argue that a lot of the other Heroes did just as well as them, one cannot argue against the fact that these two are doubly special in the story. Fans opened up with Bakugo, who was in the hospital recovering from his injuries. Even after a week, Bakugo still hasn’t completely recovered. It was mentioned to Bakugo that his hand is essentially lost forever.

Once again, fans know that he suffered tremendous damage in the war, and while he did wear All Might’s prosthetic for quite a while, eventually, he would have to get treatment. Now, it is clear that Bakugo will have to either wear a prosthetic, or go without it. In My Hero Academia chapter 424, Bakugo clearly decides to go without a prosthetic and this was largely down to the fact that he produces nitroglycerin from his sweat glands. Were he to wear a prosthetic, he would not be able to do that.

Meanwhile, Deku appears to be in a worse condition. While the Bakugou can actually move around, Deku seems to be just about capable of feeling his arms. All Might was in a terrible condition as well. Deku and All Might were seen having a heartfelt conversation about Tenko. As expected, Deku was unable to save him. This was his biggest goal and he failed to deliver, which also left a sour taste in the mouth of the fans. Deku believed that despite his hatred having vanished, he still was the leader of the League of Villains right until the very end, and he lamented the fact that he was unable to do anything for him.

Oh yeah? That depends on what you people decide to do tomorrow. Make sure to do your damn best. – Tenko to Deku.

However, All Might asked him what his face looked like at the very end. To this, Deku responded that he smiled and had acknowledged the fact that everything that he wanted to be destroyed had been destroyed. Now, Deku needed to do his best and Tenko gave him a nod, which All Might interpreted as his heart having been saved. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it was enough. For a child who had suffered as much as he did, he certainly deserved more, but that is a conversation for another day.

Fans also got to see a reunion between Bakugo and Deku in this chapter. This was a very touching moment, and quite easily the best part of the chapter. Bakugo managed to overhear that Deku is essentially Quirkless now since he transferred One For All to Shigaraki moments before his death. This shattered the idea of competition in his mind and he was once again reminded of the fact that he treated him horribly all these years. Bakugo will always seemingly carry this weight on his heart and it is good to see that a character who did so much harm to Deku when they were growing up is truly and deeply sorry. Still, Bakugo will always stand by Deku’s side and this is truly heart-touching.

This is the moment when All Might declared both of them as the greatest Heroes ever, and now, the series is heading into its Epilogue. This is also where the author essentially confirmed that My Hero Academia is not going to end with the conclusion of the war. The conclusion of the war is not the end of the story. The story of the Heroes is one that is still being written and it will play out until they create their own bright future one day.

For now, everything heads back to the UA, which is exactly what the last panel of the chapter conveyed. In the next chapters should expect the story to head back to the prestigious school where quite a significant portion of the story already took place, and that certainly has a lot of the readers excited.

My Hero Academia is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of My Hero Academia, My Hero Academia chapter 425, is set to be June 10, 2024.
