Present Mic’s personality is basically one of a radio host with too much energy, even his regular voice seems like he is hosting a live event when talking to his peers or students. As an MC, Present Mic is great at maintaining a crowd’s attention and entertaining the audience, and he does this naturally. He was also in charge of the commentary at the U.A. High Sports Festival and kept the atmosphere of the event alive. He is also good friends with Pro Hero and teacher at U.A. High, Shōta Aizawa otherwise known as Eraser Head (It is later learned that it was in fact Present Mic who came up with Aizawa’s hero name) as the two of them attended U.A. High together when they were just students.

While Present Mic appears to be this fun and entertaining, there is also a serious side to him. This is seen when he rises to the occasion to protect his students and is also seen when he becomes angry with Dr. Kyudai Garaki, when he finds out that one of his best friend’s body was used in creating Kurogiri, a nomu and powerful villain who was serving under All For One. Present Mic is seen to go into an uncontrollable rage, questioning the doctor as to why he did it, showcasing a different side of the usually enigmatic character.

When it comes to abilities and quirks, Present Mic’s quirk is known as ‘voice’. This quirk gives him the ability to amplify the sound of his voice. He emits this amplified voice through a scream that is powerful enough to damage a person’s ears even when he is not in close range. A couple of his special moves include Loud Voice, which gives him the ability to use his voice at a very high frequency, causing shock waves powerful enough to blow anything in its path away. DJ punch is also another special move he uses, which is a powerful punch which he lands on an opponent. This is seen when he intentionally punches Dr. Kyudai Garaki in the face as revenge for messing with his best friend’s corpse, sending him reeling onto the ground. Finally, Loud-Out Shout is also another attack he uses by using his voice, sending shock waves to a large group of enemies. Present Mic also has sharp deduction abilities and was the first person to realize that there was a spy among the students who was feeding important hero intel to All For One.

To help amplify his voice, Present Mic has a speaker-like device below his chin which enables him to emit his voice in the direction he wants to. A couple of fun facts about Present Mic are that he is extremely afraid of bugs and tries his best to stay away from them by avoiding forest settings. Another fun fact is that Present Mic’s character is actually based on a real-life Japanese radio personality, Yamada Hisashi.
