Highlights
- Toga’s friendships in My Hero Academia are complex and often one-sided, with her obsessions and delusions influencing her relationships.

- Toga’s bond with Twice was the strongest, but his tragic death left her scarred and influenced her actions in later storylines.
Ever since she debuted in Episode 31 of Season 2, Himiko Toga has been a fan-favorite villain. Her crazy demeanor, cool design, and powerful quirk have all helped her become one of the best female characters in My Hero Academia. What has really made her popular, though, is the relationships she has built with other characters, both heroes and villains.
Toga might be a homicidal psychopath, but throughout My Hero Academia, she manages to make some genuine friends. Some of these friendships are based on Toga’s delusions and obsessions, while others are forged in fire. These friendships are ranked based on how close the characters are and what happened to make them friends in the first place.
While the anime will be the focus, elements from the manga will also be considered, so beware of spoilers for the manga’s later chapters.
6 Tsuyu Asui
A One-Sided Friendship
To say Toga doesn’t have many social skills would be an understatement. She might be one of anime’s greatest female villains, but thanks to the way society abandoned her, Toga really isn’t very good at making friends or understanding what friendship is, for that matter. The second Toga meets Froppy, she decides she wants to be her friend – which she does by trying to stab her new acquaintance.
Toga is fascinated by Tsuyu Asui’s calm and collected demeanor, which is in sharp contrast to her own. Much like with Midoriya (whom she has a crush on), Toga quickly becomes obsessed with Tsuyu, seeing a relationship that doesn’t exist. To make matters worse, Tsuyu can’t stand Himiko after watching her injure Ochaco. To Tsuyu, Himiko is little more than a crazy stalker. Their twisted “friendship” is summed up by the fact that Froppy hates it when Toga calls her by her first name, something reserved only for her true friends. The very one-sided nature of this friendship puts Tsuyu Asui in last place. She probably wouldn’t mind…
5 Ochaco Uraraka
Rivals To Friends
Fans who aren’t fully up-to-date with the manga may want to skip this entry. For most of My Hero Academia‘s run, Ochaco and Toga shared one of My Hero Academia‘s best rivalries. This rivalry initially seemed to revolve around the fact that both women had crushes on Midoriya, but over time, it evolved into something much more complicated. Toga became fascinated by Ochaco’s cheerful and determined personality as well as her positivity and strength, seeing her as the kind of person she could never be.
Despite battling several times, it became clear that Toga held a twisted affection for Ochaco, whom she even claimed to love. Eventually, Ochaco came to realize that Toga was traumatized, and the two came to a kind of understanding, even if they weren’t exactly friends. During their final confrontation in Gunga, Ochaco is gravely injured and lays dying on the ground. Toga decides she doesn’t want to see her rival die and begins to give her a blood transfusion. Realizing Toga could die, Ochaco begs her to stop, but Toga refuses. Toga sacrifices herself for Ochaco. In her dying moment, Toga gained one last friend and thanked her for reaching out.
4 Spinner (Shuichi Iguchi)
Followers Of Stain
The relationship between Spinner and Toga is based on the fact that they both worship Stain, one of the strongest villains in My Hero Academia and that they joined the Paranormal Liberation Front for similar reasons. Spinner worships Stain because he believes in what the villain represents, while Toga claims she loves Stain and wants to “become him.”
Besides their shared worship of Stain, the two villains’ personalities complement each other well – Spinner is earnest and envies Toga’s more playful and erratic behavior. During the Paranormal Liberation War, Spinner stops Himiko from mindlessly going into battle and tells her that Twice saw their group as a family and that he and Toga should stick together. Later, when All For One calls for a retreat, Spinner risks angering his boss by pointing out they’ll be leaving Toga behind. They may not be the closest of friends, but it’s clear that Spinner and Toga respect and care for each other.
3 Dabi
Act Like Siblings
At first glance, it might look like Dabi and Toga don’t like each other all that much. Instead of bonding over their shared respect for Stain (unlike Toga and Spinner) the two clash almost constantly. Toga happily teases Dabi every time one of his plans goes wrong and mocks him during their battle with Gigantomachia because his flames aren’t doing any damage. On the flip side, Dabi often calls Toga names like “wacko” and “nutjob.”
Ironically, considering their backgrounds, Dabi and Toga act like siblings. My Hero Academia has several strong families, and the villains often act like a dysfunctional familial unit. Dabi and Toga eventually grow less antagonistic, especially after Dabi sees Toga’s family home. In an attempt to make her feel better and ease her sadness, Dabi burns it to the ground, an act Toga appreciates. Toga is also close enough to Dabi to call him by his real name without being turned into human kindling. During the Final War, Toga is left distraught after learning of Dabi’s fate, a fact that most likely plays into her final sacrifice.
2 Mr. Compress (Atshurio Sako)
A Father Figure
Despite being only 32 years old, Mr. Compress likes to act like he’s one of the oldest characters in My Hero Academia, something reflected in his relationship with Toga. Among his fellow villains, he tends to act like somewhat of a father figure, especially towards Toga. Unlike other characters, who tend to quickly become impatient with her, Mr. Compress takes the time to explain things to Toga, whether it be their plans or the differences between The League and other criminals.
He also has a habit of referring to himself as “Old Man” when around her and frequently compliments Toga, often addressing her as dear. It’s clear throughout their interactions that Mr. Compress has a soft spot for Toga and is looking out for her. He tried to stop her from going on a suicidal killing spree after seeing what happened to Twice and told her to be careful during the Paranormal Liberation War arc several times. With the way he watches out and cares for her, there can be no doubt that Mr. Compress is one of Toga’s closest friends.
1 Twice (Jin Bubaigawara)
Birds Of A Feather
Of all the characters in My Hero Academia, Twice is easily the one with whom Toga shares the strongest bond. From day one of their internship in the Yakuza, it was obvious that the two were destined to become fast friends. Their shared sense of being outcasts and their mutual acceptance of each other’s quirks cemented a friendship. The two continually supported each other and offered understanding when the two villains were used to receiving the opposite.
After Toga repaired his mask, Twice referred to Toga as his soulmate, and the two nearly shared a kiss. When Toga almost died at the hands of Skeptic, it drove Twice to overcome his trauma and save her by creating an army of Doubles. When Twice sacrificed himself for his friends in one of My Hero Academia‘s saddest deaths, he was thinking of Toga. That sacrifice scarred Toga, and she never recovered from Twice’s death. In her final battle, she led an army of his clones after consuming his blood and did her best to get revenge on Hawks. The friendship between the two was one of My Hero Academia‘s best relationships.
