My Hero Academia: 6 Characters Who Have Never Won A Fight In The Anime

Highlights

  • The Paranormal Liberation War in My Hero Academia changed the dynamic of the show, leading to a climactic battle between heroes and villains.
  • Several powerful characters in the series have never had an on-screen victory, despite their intimidating appearances and unique Quirks.
  • Characters like Muscular, Midnight, Denki Kaminari, Camie Utsushimi, Gang Orca, and Hound Dog have either lost battles, died, or had minimal impact on the series.

My Hero Academia is one of the most popular anime of all time. The unique take on superheroes clearly resonated with fans across the world, even if the anime may fall victim to certain shonen trappings that fans are pretty tired of at this point. Regardless, the Paranormal Liberation War was a huge event in the series that completely changed the dynamic of the show for good, with the battle between heroes and villains set to reach a fever pitch in no time at all.

There are many characters introduced in the series, with the majority of them having unique Quirks that are used for either good or evil. Some of the characters in the show look quite intimidating and can possibly wipe the floor with most regular heroes, so it’s rather surprising that these powerful characters have never enjoyed a single on-screen victory. Sure, they might’ve won some fights that haven’t been documented in My Hero Academia, but who really cares about that?

6 Muscular

Loses Twice To Deku

Muscular is easily one of the scariest villains in My Hero Academia. His powers are truly nightmarish and could’ve led to him being a decent hero, but the man chooses to walk down a path of evil and aligns himself with the League of Villains to terrorize the students of UA when this group ambushes them during their training camp. The fact that Deku has to handle Muscular alone makes for an agonizing moment as he experiences what being a hero truly entails.

The inheritor of One for All had unlocked his Full Cowl ability, but Muscular’s durability was so high that Midoriya had to destroy his limbs once again to take out this powerful villain after an awe-inspiring battle. After All for One leads a jailbreak from Tartarus, Muscular wreaks havoc for a while before Midoriya tracks down the villain and finishes him off without struggling as much as he did the first time.

5 Midnight

Dies In Her First Serious Battle

While Midnight may have attained victory against the villains once, this happened when she was part of a group and didn’t really do too much to participate in the battle anyway. Her powers don’t really allow her to play a direct role in battle anyway, with her Quirk letting her slow down enemies before the more aggressive Pro Heroes take out the foes who’ve been debilitated by this move.

Midnight is called into action when Gigantomachia starts rampaging all over Japan. The UA students and Midnight are tasked with devising a plan to take out this massive villain who is so monstrously strong that letting him go would spell doom for any settlement caught in its path. Unfortunately, despite putting up a valiant effort, Gigantomachia foils this plan. The damage she incurs is too much, and Midnight passes away after a grueling confrontation.

4 Denki Kaminari

Doesn’t Do Anything With His Cool Electricity Powers

For a superhero who can control lightning, it’s downright impressive just how little impact Kaminari has in My Hero Academia. His electrical powers should’ve made him a force to be reckoned with, but the only time he’s actually shone in the anime is when he absorbs all the electricity from a powerful lightning attack during the Paranormal Liberation War.

In a direct confrontation with a villain, Denki will always be at a disadvantage because of the double-edged nature of his powers. He gets dizzy after using his powers, making him a glass cannon that can be completely wiped out if an enemy manages to avoid or nullify his Hail Mary attack.

3 Camie Utsushimi

Was Only Relevant When Himiko Impersonated Her

There was a time when viewers thought that Camie would play a central role in the events of My Hero Academia. This was a fair assumption to make, especially since she got so much screen time during the Provisional Hero License Exam. However, it was revealed later on that the real Camie had been taken out of commission, with Himiko Toga impersonating her to gain valuable data.

Following this event, the only notable thing Camie has done is participate in the Remedial Course along with Bakugo, Shoto, and Inasa. Her Quirk may be interesting, but the fact that she’s barely done anything of note in the series aside from being knocked out deserves a mention.

2 Gang Orca

Looks Intimidating… And That’s About It

The teachers in UA are all pretty intimidating in their own right, and Gang Orca is no exception to this golden rule. This authoritarian figure plays a key role during the Remedial Exams when the four students from UA and Shiketsu need to go through an additional test to get their Provisional Hero Licenses.

His Quirk gives him the abilities of a killer whale, which should make him a force to be reckoned with. However, he doesn’t really play a role in major battles and ends up being more of an observer as the major characters hog the spotlight during these meaningful encounters.

1 Hound Dog

Disappears During Big Events

Another intimidating Pro Hero and UA teacher who is more of a minor supporting character, Hound Dog certainly looks the part of a hero who can whoop most enemies to kingdom come. However, in reality, there’s really nothing he’s done in the series to justify his position as one of the stronger heroes around.

Hound Dog’s Quirk is so basic and simple that it’s easy to see why he won’t be interesting to watch in a battle. Sure, having the abilities of a dog may be useful, but My Hero Academia has numerous characters with more creative and powerful Quirks that completely overshadow Hound Dog’s powers in more ways than one.
