For all forms of magic, ranging from attack magic and healing magic to summoning and other unique forms of magic, there is a seven-tier ranking system that categorizes the difficulty and power contained within each spell.

Among the different forms of elemental attack magic, Water Spells are some of the most widely used abilities in Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation. Even the series’ protagonist, Rudeus Greyrat, has relied on Water spells extensively over the course of his journey, developing a few extremely powerful ones in the process. On this note, here are some of the strongest Water spells in Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation.

5 Blizzard Storm

Fires A Multitude Of Ice Shards In Various Directions

Rank

Advanced

True to its name, this Advanced rank Water spell shoots a shower of ice shards in several directions, blanketing a target area with sharp projectiles of varying size. Rudeus’ use of this spell occurred while he was accompanying the Adventure Guild party Counter Arrow on an A-rank quest to hunt Snow Drakes in the Northern Lands.

In this situation, Rudeus directed the spell toward a nearby rock formation, and forced it to collapse on a swarm of Snow Drakes, thinning out their numbers in the process. By virtue of its rank and versatility, Blizzard Storm is a spell with a wide range of applications, both for offensive and defensive purposes, although it does consume a fair amount of mana.

4 Frost Nova

Soaks Enemies And Freezes Them In Ice

Rank

Advanced

An Advanced rank melded magic spell that is rooted in a combination of two Water spells, Frost Nova serves to immobilize large swarms of enemies, or stall opponents of massive size. While the amount of mana required to perform it is quite large, Rudeus’ near-inexhaustible mana pool allowed him to master such combat spells without too much difficulty.

The spell acts in two stages, beginning by soaking targets in a fair amount of water, which is then rapidly cooled to freeze and immobilize them in a prison of ice. Hence, Frost Nova is extremely useful in a range of situations, although the difficulty of casting it effectively, combined with the mana it consumes, can deter most mages from attempting it.

3 Cumulonimbus

Summons A Thundercloud To Produce Torrential Rain

Rank

Saint

One of the first large-scale Water spells depicted in the series, Cumulonimbus is a Saint rank spell of immense proportions, both in terms of its area of effectiveness and the complexity involved in casting it. Essentially, this spell sees the caster create a gargantuan thundercloud which brings forth strong winds and torrential rain over a massive stretch of land.

Depending on the amount of mana poured into it, along with the prevailing atmospheric conditions in the region, Cumulonimbus also produces occasional lightning strikes. The spell’s huge area of impact, coupled with the roaring winds that accompany it, make collateral damage a huge risk when casting it. If the mage casting it is not alone, and their allies are unprepared to deal with it, things can go wrong quickly.

2 Lightning

Creates A Thundercloud To Produce A Powerful Lightning Strike

Rank

King

Much like Cumulonimbus, Lightning is a King rank Water spell that produces a thundercloud, although the effect of this spell is quite different. Unlike the former spell, Lightning is much more focused on its targeting, and its area of impact is a bit smaller than Cumulonimbus, yielding an attack that can be exceptionally deadly if executed properly.

All the mana poured into this spell is condensed and released for the sole function of generating a powerful lightning bolt, which is directed to strike a designated target. On the surface, this spell can be very deadly when used against monsters or strong opponents who cannot absorb the attack. That being said, the amount of mana consumed by this spell, the time required to cast it, and the restrictions on using it indoors, make the prospect of performing it feasible only in certain situations.

1 Absolute Zero

Freezes Targets Solid Across A Wide Area

Rank

Emperor

Essentially, Absolute Zero is an enhanced version of the Advanced rank spell Frost Nova, taking its ability to freeze large areas to a whole new level. As an Emperor rank Water spell, Absolute Zero also works in a manner that is similar to Frost Nova, with the mana required to cast it, and the depth of its effectiveness, serving as the key differences between the two.

Unlike Frost Nova, which only freezes targets on the surface, Absolute Zero freezes everything caught within its range to the very core, making it especially effective against large herds of powerful monsters. Rudeus first discovered the spell when attempting to cast Frost Nova in order to save Roxy. By accidentally pouring too much mana into the spell, Rudeus augmented its power exponentially, elevating its impact by a huge margin.
