The month-long wait for the latest chapter has proven to be worthwhile, as the writer skillfully concludes the feud between Hana and Michiru.

Chapter 53 of Mieruko-chan begins with a reflection on the tragic day when Michiru's parents were tragically lost in a car accident. Since that fateful day, Michiru's older sister, Ichijou, has been steadfast in her resolve to protect Michiru.

Returning to the present, Ichijou arrives at the school to collect Michiru, only to find her missing. She approaches Zen, requesting a change in Michiru's class to separate her from Mieruko, but Zen declines, citing the school's regulations.

In response, Ichijou firmly states that she would unenroll Michiru from the school if necessary. Without waiting for Zen's response, she begins walking away, calling out for Michiru. However, Michiru does not answer the phone, and her location remains unknown, causing Ichijou to grow increasingly anxious. At this moment, Mieruko enters the scene, engaged in her own attempt to contact Michiru as she converses with Julia over the phone.

Ichijou is taken aback, and Zen inquires why Mieruko is still present at the school. Mieruko explains that Hana has suddenly disappeared, and she is currently searching for her.

Overhearing this conversation, Ichijou shows Mieruko a picture and asks if it is of Hana. Mieruko gazes at the photo in astonishment, noticing that Hana's face has been marred by some form of damage. She turns to Ichijou, questioning the state of the photo, but Ichijou is overcome with tears, unable to respond.

A school announcement summons Hana and Michiru back to the office. Hana hears the announcement and asks Michiru about it, but Michiru claims she didn't hear anything.

Hana checks her phone and discovers there is no network connection, prompting her to ponder whether Mieruko might be concerned about her. Michiru inquires why Mieruko would worry about someone like her, to which Hana casually responds that Miko is simply a worrier by nature.

The tentacles surrounding Michiru suddenly point toward Hana, and Michiru asks her about her relationship with Mieruko. As always, Hana doesn’t understand what Michiru wants, so Michiru explains that she wants to get closer to Mieruko, and so she would like Hana to stay away from her. The focus then shifts to Michiru’s past, where she can be seen returning a Hat to Kohane.

Michiru finds herself covered in sewer water, a sight that disgusts Kohane and his parents, leading them to ask her to move away while removing the hat. Ichijou, concerned for Michiru's safety, advises her to avoid sewers due to their potential danger. However, Michiru explains that her sole intention is to retrieve Kohane's hat.

Ichijou acknowledges Michiru as a good girl but laments that others don't see her in the same light. Michiru's peculiar behavior repels those around her, causing them to distance themselves.

To protect Michiru from the rejection of her peers, Ichijou chose to isolate her from other children, hoping to spare her from sadness. Returning to the present, Ichijou confides in Mieruko, describing Michiru as an unusual child who struggled with social interactions, leading to past emotional distress. She mentions that Mushoku must be with Hana at the moment, and given the distorted picture they have, it's uncertain what actions Mushoku might take.

Michiru urges Hana to stay away from Miko, insisting that she should be the one by Hana's side, as she cares deeply for her. Michiru also confesses that seeing Hana and Mieruko together makes her envious because she can't enjoy that same closeness. Touched by Michiru's honesty, Hana begins to cry and immediately embraces Michiru, appreciating her for sharing her feelings.
