Highlights
- Powerful supernatural beings in manhwa showcase unmatched strength and abilities, sometimes surpassing even the concept of Gods.
- Characters like Vaishravana and Laurus exhibit divine powers that make them formidable forces in the respective manhwas they appear in.
- Gods like Tartarus, Aria, Agni, and Jin Mori demonstrate supreme control over elements and realms, solidifying their status as powerful beings.
There’s no shortage of strong supernatural characters in any fantasy-themed medium. Vampires, werewolves, zombies, leviathan monsters, ghosts, and even cyborgs and aliens have been a consistently recurring element in almost every manga, anime, movie, and TV show remotely related to fantasy and mystery. Yet, despite all of these creatures holding extraordinary powers and supernatural abilities, they barely come close to actual Gods.
This is precisely why most manhwa (or any other entertainment sphere really) have this vivid representation of Gods and divine beings that showcase them as what they are—strongest in the realm. Once that factor is explored through the lens of different mythology and cultures, the world gets deities and beings so diverse and powerful that one can’t help but be intrigued.

Vaishravana in Asura is the strongest of the Heavenly Kings, and despite being “just” and “kind” on the surface, he’s ruthless, manipulative, and opportunistic when he has to be.
While he is small, dainty, and not very intimidating in stature initially, Vaishravana’s true potential comes out during his unprompted face-off with Asura. A fight that initially feels very well-contested takes a turn for the worse for the protagonist when Vaishravana turns into his real form. Even in his original, “weak,” form, he’s equally matched in agility and physical strength with the demon god. His ultimate form is bigger, scarier, and much more fortified. He also holds a large cleaver-like weapon with a long handle in one of his hands which serves as his main tool for spellcasting and executing the bulk of his physical assaults against enemies.
6 Laurus (Flirting With The Villain’s Dad)
Divine Powers And Light Manipulation Allows Him To Defeat Hades With Minimal Effort

Ongoing (Almost Finished) |
Flirting with the Villain’s Dad is an isekai romance that’s mainly about a woman whose transmigration into the body of the main character of another world causes the said world to reject her. This in turn catches the attention of the God of Peace and Prosperity of the land, Laurus, who casually decides to help Yerenica (the main lead) navigate through her new life—simply because he finds her fascinating.
Laurus doesn’t exactly physically interact with the characters of the manhwa early on in the story. Consequently, he comes off as weak and useless. However, in the final face-off between Yerenica and the God of the Underworld, Hades, with the obvious disadvantage for the good guys, Laurus makes his long-awaited appearance. With his innate powers of light and divinity pitted against the darkness embodied by Hades, a single divine intervention from Laurus proves more than enough for the former’s instant demise. His win against Hades is almost unsettling because of how effortless it is. Furthermore, he wields the power to grant divine status to a mortal, demonstrated by his action of transforming Yerenica into a saintess. Despite all the power in hand, Laurus has a carefree, happy-go-lucky, and almost irresponsible personality that gets him in trouble with his human peers.
5 Asura
Unrivaled Strength, Speed, Resilience, And The Power Of Infinity
The titular character of Asura is based on the Hindu/Buddhist mythology revolving around antigods—essentially a group of demons known for their open resistance towards Gods. So, while Asura is technically a demon and not a God, his standing in the manhwa mirrors that of a being ascending to the status of a deity.
Asura starts as the strongest being in a realm called Tapana. He’s so strong and unhinged that he deliberately goes out of his way to look for fights with demons and other Tapana creatures just to cure his eternal boredom. He has multiple arms—four of which are used as weapons rather than appendages—that he uses to conjure up his spells and magic. Even after he’s stripped of his powers and his arms, Asura is still physically stronger than humans and other creatures. Post his “enlightenment,” he becomes more powerful and significantly calmer than he was before. Moreover, he acquires additional supernatural abilities, heightened wisdom, and even an abundance of additional hands.
4 Tartarus (Doom Breaker)
Raging Demon God With The Power To Destroy Worlds

Ongoing |
Doom Breaker is an action fantasy that initiates its point of conflict with a cruel and evil God. Tartarus is the egotistical God of Demons who kills and annihilates everything in his path simply for the thrill of it. His arrogance, pride, and strength make him believe that he’s invincible, prompting him to attack and destroy the human realm. The MC, being the only person to bring him any sort of harm, is the reason Tartarus demands he be reincarnated.
Being the demon god gives him dominion over the entire demon realm, allowing him to control and command every cruel creature however he likes. He’s bent on destroying everything to establish his power and authority and is not the best sportsman when it comes to counting his losses. He’s shown to have some sort of control over time and fire—being able to manipulate flames for offense and slow down time on his whim. He and his worshipers can use black magic and skills that are exclusive to them and only them.
3 Aria (Doom Breaker)
One Of The Three Great Gods With Powers To Control And Manipulate Light
Aria, the Goddess of Light, is one of the Three Great Gods in the Doom Breaker universe, controlling everything in all realms. While there aren’t any active fights in the manhwa that showcase her true potential, her history, appearance, and the little flashes of power she’s shown throughout the series are enough to prove that she’s one of the strongest beings in the realm.
Being the Goddess of Light gives her domain over everything pure. She has complete control over light, and everything her subjects and saints use in terms of spells and abilities is derived from her own power. She has control over divine weapons and can bestow even the strongest, most unmanageable of them on anyone she wishes—which naturally proves her feats and power. She’s also a tad unhinged and malevolent, finding immense satisfaction in watching the MC struggle through countless trials and tribulations, all while turning a blind eye to the cause of protecting his people.
2 Agni (Kubera)
Has Jurisdiction Over The Universe’s Fire And Can Use It However He Wills

Kubera is another manhwa that is largely based on Hindu and Buddhist mythology. Almost all of its characters, specifically the ones associated with divinity, are seen in Hindi and Buddhist descriptions approximately as they are. The entire manhwa explores the history of multiple Hindu Gods and Divines and features several strong beings that go beyond mortal existence.
One such God is Agni, the God of Fire, who is known as one of the strongest Gods in the realm of Kubera. Being the God of Fire, Agni naturally has jurisdiction over everything fire-related, and that, in itself, gives him an edge over other beings of similar status. In addition to being immortal, Agni has several skills that are unique to his persona. He can imbue himself with his fire to enhance his speed and strength through an ability known as fire assimilation. The speed he achieves is so extreme that it gives the illusion of teleportation magic to an onlooker. He also has foresight, telepathy, actual teleportation, regeneration, and summoning magic. His most deadly spell is an updated version of Fire Assimilation, known as White Assimilation, that makes him lose his mind and go on an uncontrollable rampage in the unlikely scenario of him being forced to use it.

The manhwa world is packed with stories that explore godhood and divinity—so much so, that almost every power-scaling action manhwa has this trope in it, one way or another. Yet, despite this, there’s a scarcity of remarkable, unforgettable Gods in manhwa celebrated for their might and divine sovereignty over their realms. That being said, Jin Mori, the protagonist of The God of High School, is the epitome of power evolution, shattering and reconstructing every conventional notion of strength and progression. Beginning as an ordinary human, he ascends to divine status on numerous occasions, ultimately attaining the title of Maitreya, The Supreme God.
As The Supreme God who was previously the Monkey King, Jin Mori is not only physically stronger, more durable, and more agile than literally all the other beings of the universe, but also possesses countless divine powers exclusive to him. After his ascension, he attains control over the powers possessed by every entity to ever exist in his realm, including gods, demons, humans, monsters, and Generation X. He’s able to create and destroy whatever he wants and is even able to change and warp reality.
