In a world plagued by curses and supernatural threats, Jujutsu Kaisen unfolds a story of extraordinary powers and mystical abilities. Jujutsu Kaisen follows Itadori Yuji, a high schooler whose life takes a drastic turn after consuming a cursed finger containing the soul of Sukuna, a powerful curse.
This fateful event leads Itadori to Tokyo Jujutsu High, where he undergoes training under the guidance of Gojo Satoru – one of the most powerful jujutsu sorcerers to exist. As a Jujutsu Sorcerer, Itadori becomes part of a unique group of humans with the ability to see curses and wield power using cursed energy through the use of cursed techniques.
What are Innate and Inherited Techniques?
In Jujutsu Kaisen, Innate Techniques are unique abilities engraved into a sorcerer’s body, specifically in the right prefrontal cortex of the brain, manifesting around the age of five or six. These techniques are highly proprietary, making up about eighty percent of a sorcerer’s natural skillset, with individuals typically having only one, though rare cases may involve possessing up to three or four innate techniques. One type of innate technique is called Inherited Technique. As the name suggests, Inherited Techniques are passed down from sorcerers in the same bloodline.
Inherited Techniques are known for being extremely powerful, and because they are passed down, the user has an easier way of learning and perfecting the technique. While Sorcerers from non-prominent clans can inherit innate techniques like the Straw Doll Technique, techniques passed down from the ancestors of the Big Three Families hold the title of inherited techniques, securing a significant family position and maintaining the families’ authority and prestige. The Big Three Families are the Zenin clan, the Gojo Clan and the Kamo clan. The Zenin Family has the Ten Shadows Technique, the Gojo Clan has the Six Eyes and the Limitless Technique, and the Kamo clan has a technique that uses blood.
Blood Manipulation is the Inherited Technique of the Kamo Clan
Blood Manipulation is a cursed technique in JJK that allows users to control and shape their blood. The technique allows for external blood to be transformed into weapons and internal blood to control pulse rate and body temperature, enhancing physical abilities. Limitations include the susceptibility to environmental factors like water and potential blood loss. Additionally, the blood of a Blood Manipulation user is poisonous to cursed spirits. As with any cursed technique, the effectiveness and power of Blood Manipulation depends on the sorcerer. So far, two users of this blood-based Inherited Technique have been seen in the anime – Noritoshi and Choso.
Noritoshi’s Blood Manipulation Can Defy Physics
Noritoshi’s ability grants him control over all aspects of his blood. By imbuing his arrows with blood, he can manipulate them even after firing, defying the laws of physics. Noritoshi has access to various derived techniques, such as Flowing Red Scale, which enhances his energy and physical abilities, Crimson Binding, transforming blood into a net to ensnare targets, Slicing Exorcism, creating a bladed projectile with rotating blood, Convergence, compressing blood to its limit, and Piercing Blood, firing a long-ranged, flesh-piercing beam of blood.
Choso’s Technique is a Blend of Strategy and Emotional Connection
Choso, as a Death Painting Womb, seamlessly blends immense cursed energy with calculated precision through his captivating Blood Cursed Technique. His meticulous and strategic nature is evident in the precise manipulation of blood, shaping lethal weapons, and strategically consuming blood for enhanced strength. The toxic quality of his blood, inducing stamina drain in adversaries, reflects a cunning and adaptable side, showcasing a willingness to employ unconventional methods in battle. Beyond combat, the Blood Connection aspect of his technique adds emotional depth, allowing Choso to sense the fate of his brothers. Choso’s Blood Connection ability played a crucial role in uncovering his familial ties to Yuji Itadori. As Choso engaged in a fierce battle with Yuji, his unique technique allowed him to sense the shared bloodline between them.
