Jujutsu Kaisen is a series with no shortage of powerful abilities that both the heroes and villains have at their disposal. From offensive attacks that can pretty much erase anything in their path to abilities that can cut space and the Earth itself, many moves in this franchise can quite easily be considered overpowered, making those who use them some of the strongest characters in all of modern anime.
One such category of attacks are the Maximum Techniques. After Domain Expansions, these are considered to be the second-strongest attacks that a sorcerer can derive from their Cursed Technique and, because of this, the destructive potential of these techniques is quite formidable. So, let’s take a look at what Maximum Techniques are as well as the few that have been shown in Jujutsu Kaisen!
What Are Maximum Techniques?
Maximum Techniques are extensions of a Cursed Technique at its most powerful state. As stated earlier, these are the strongest aspects of any sorcerer’s arsenal after a Domain Expansion, as these techniques utilize the destructive power of a technique to its fullest potential. These attacks condense the power of the Cursed Technique into an extremely powerful offensive blast.
However, one of the only 3 known Maximum Techniques also offers a great deal of maneuverability, which will be mentioned later on. Since the techniques gather a lot of energy to perform a destructive attack, they require a great deal of Cursed Energy, which is why the only times that Jujutsu Kaisen has shown a Maximum Technique is when a Special Grade Sorcerer or Curse has been using it.

Suguru Geto, Kenjaku |
One of the users of the Maximum Technique is the fan-favorite villain, Suguru Geto. Due to his powers of Cursed Spirit Manipulation, he can absorb Cursed Spirits upon defeating them and later summon them in a fight, making him an extremely powerful character who is designated a Special Grade Sorcerer. However, Geto could also use these Cursed Spirits as fodder to fuel Maximum: Uzumaki.
By taking many of these Cursed Spirits and condensing them all together into a swirling mass that appears behind him, Geto can unleash an extremely powerful blast of Cursed Energy that can incinerate almost anything that it hits. Though the beam of Cursed Energy is incredibly powerful, the true strength of Uzumaki comes when Geto absorbs Semi-Grade 1 Curses or higher.
Uzumaki’s true value is only manifested when using Semi-Grade 1 or higher Cursed Spirits. Which is… Extraction of Techniques.
When he does this, he can not only use them in an even more powerful version of Uzumaki, but he can extract their Cursed Technique and use it without summoning them at all. Kenjaku even said that although he first thought Uzumaki to be nothing more than a way to recycle lower-grade Curses, he realized its true potential by absorbing Mahito and initiating the Culling Game remotely by using his Idle Transfiguration.

Jogo |
Jogo is yet another character with a Special Grade designation and is one who firmly rests as one of the strongest characters in the entire series. His Maximum Technique is called Meteor, where he uses his Disaster Flames to conjure a mass of fire that seems to suck everything into itself, growing in mass and strength the more it sucks up. In his fight against Sukuna, this attack was shown to suck up various debris from all around Shibuya to form a gigantic meteor.
Even Sukuna shouldn’t escape that unharmed.
Maximum: Meteor has some of the highest destructive potential in the series, as it forms a gigantic, flaming hunk of molten rock that Jogo can use as a projectile. Though it isn’t the same size as regular meteors, it is large and powerful enough to cause an insane amount of destruction on a city level. This move is also implied to be strong enough to harm Sukuna, as he says that he would have taken substantial damage if it hit him.
Maximum: Wing King

Eso, Choso |
A unique aspect of Blood Manipulation, Maximum: Wing King is the strongest move in Eso’s arsenal. By manipulating his blood to form wasp-like wings that sprout out from his back, Eso gains a massive increase in mobility, as he is seen to be more agile and the move also allows him to levitate. He can also switch to Decay on a whim, adding a lot of versatility to this Maximum Technique.
Other than that, Maximum: Wing King also has a very powerful offensive use, like the other Maximum Techniques. These same wings can shoot out fast line attacks which are made from Eso’s corrosive blood, burning and greatly injuring everything that they touch. In the manga, Choso used his version of this attack to move around compressed orbs of blood in his fight against Kenjaku.
Jujutsu Kaisen can be streamed on Amazon Prime.
