Jujutsu Kaisen: Yuji's Black Flash Awakening Explained

Jujutsu Kaisen might just be in one of its most interesting phases right now, as the protagonist of the series, Yuji Itadori, is getting quite a lot of focus. Yuji has been somewhat of a side character in the Shinjuku Showdown arc so far, however, over the course of the last few chapters, he has slowly grown into battle, and now, his true potential is most definitely going to shine against Sukuna, and that is something that every fan of the series is very interested to see.

In JJK chapter 256, Yuji finally shined as he underwent an Awakening. What exactly this Awakening is, is not known to the fans just yet, however, it might very well be linked to the incredible ability of Black Flash that exists in the story.

Yuji Has Hit Many Black Flashes Already

Before discussing Yuji's proficiency when it comes to black flashes, one needs to understand what a black flash truly is. Simply put, a black flash is a distortion in space that can be caused by any individual wielding cursed energy. However, pulling it off is near impossible. Essentially, to hit a black flash, one's control over cursed energy must be incredibly high. The art of hitting a black flash requires one to apply cursed energy in 1 millionth of a second of a physical hit, and that in itself makes it one of the strongest abilities to have existed in the story. Of course, when this cursed energy is applied to the physical attack, a distortion in space occurs, and the overall power of the hit is increased to the power of 2.5.

This means that every single blow becomes that much stronger, and this ability in itself is one that makes an individual extremely dangerous and battle. Furthermore, when one hits the black flash, they enter the zone, and their cursed energy is on a completely different level. Essentially, they can bring out 120% of their true power, and that is truly an incredible power. Fans have seen quite a lot of powerful black flashes in JJK over the years, and Yuji himself has hit many.

When it comes to Yuji Itadori, fans know that he was taught the art of hitting black flashes by none other than Todo. This was during his battle against Hanami, and Yuji actually showcased tremendous proficiency in hitting black flashes in this fight. In fact, he managed to tie the record number of consecutive black flashes in this battle, which was absolutely astonishing, given that this was the first time he was even trying this skill.

During the fight against Hanami, Yuji was able to land four black flashes in succession, improving his control with each hit. Yuji entered the zone efficiently in this battle, and it is safe to say that he became one of the most incredible black flash users in JJK. Yuji faced Mahito on multiple occasions, and he also landed black flashes against him. Overall, Yuji hit three black flashes against him, and all of them were tremendously powerful. In Shibuya, especially, Yuji's black flashes were doubly special against mahito, and one of them was responsible for forcing him out of his true form.

Since Shibuya, Yuji hadn't hit a single black flash in JJK, which was quite surprising for the fans. However, now, in JJK chapter 256, Yuji has pulled it off once again, and hit a powerful black flash on none other than the King of Curses himself.

In JJK chapter 256, Yuji showcased incredible focus against Sukuna. Despite being on the back foot, he was able to lock in and focus incredibly well. In fact, even before Yuji hit the black flash, Sukuna could feel it coming, which just goes to show that Yuji's proficiency with the skill is absolutely immense. Even though Sukuna could potentially have avoided being hit by a black flash, Larue played a magnificent part in the battle and distracted the King of Curses. As that happened, Yuji hit Sukuna with a powerful black flash which produced sparks the size of which the fans haven't even seen in the story. With this powerful attack, Yuji dealt tremendous damage to Sukuna, and managed to enter the zone, bringing out his 120%.

However, Yuji entering the zone was not the biggest aspect of his Black Flash. It was the fact that Yuji actually managed to gain an awakening. Yuji Itadori awakened after hitting a black flash against Sukuna, and that is what fans are eagerly waiting to see in the upcoming chapter of the series.

So far, there have been no hints as to what Yuji's awakening is going to be, however, fans can rest assured that this Awakening is going to be absolutely immense and it will help him greatly in regards to defeating the King of Curses. This feat is surely not going to be easy, however, with the right awakened power, Yuji can certainly make much of a difference in this battle.

Can Yuji Hit Black Flash At Will?

While it hasn't been confirmed as to what Yuji's awakening is going to be, one very interesting power that he can gain is the ability to hit black flashes at will. It can be said that no sorcerer in the history of JJK can hit black flashes at will. Even the likes of Gojo and Sukuna cannot pull something like this off and fans already know this very well. In the case of Gojo, despite having Six Eyes, he cannot pull off a feat this magnificent. Furthermore, Gojo has never trained the art of hitting black flashes all that well, and this is down to the fact that all his battles are long and end before he even gets the chance to hit them.

In the case of Sukuna, fans know that he possesses immense cursed energy, however, still, he cannot hit black flashes at will. However, Yuji might be special. Fans know that Yuji has proficiency when it comes to hitting black flashes, and he has hit the most black flashes in Jiu-Jitsu kaizen to date. If his awakening allows him to increase his focus to a point where he can hit black flashes at will, he might just become one of the most overpowered sorcerers in the entire story. Yuji hitting consecutive black flashes would mean great things for his character and it would give him a power-up worthy of rivaling and defeating Sukuna.

For one, hitting consecutive black flashes would mean that Yuji would always be in the zone, and bring out around 120% or more of his true abilities. If that is not enough, this act of hitting consecutive black flashes would raise him to an entire new level, and give him the ability to use RCT infinitely. This would mean that usually could heal infinitely in battle, and that truly is frightening.

Of course, this isn't a guarantee, however, it is highly likely that Yuji might gain the ability to deliver black flashes at will, and it would certainly be fitting, given that the concept of hitting a black flash is quite similar to Divergent Fist, and that is something that Yuji has great proficiency in already.
