Jujutsu Kaisen chapter is currently in the Shinjuku Showdown section of the Culling Game arc, and it is certainly progressing incredibly with each passing chapter. Fans have thoroughly enjoyed every fight that they have gotten to witness over the course of the last few chapters, with Maki being the latest contender to fight against the King of Curses.
JJK chapter 252 and 253 were entirely focused on Maki versus Sukuna, and this battle certainly lived up to the expectations, in most ways. That said, now, this battle appears to be over, at least temporarily. Now, most of the focus is going to be on the next contender in the battle against Sukuna, and that is, Kusakabe. This is a fight that most fans did not expect would happen at all, however, it is one that is now thrown in the face of the fans, who, at this point, do not know what to expect from this battle and how it will play out.
Maki Vs Sukuna
Maki versus Sukuna finally wrapped up in JJK chapter 253. It was quite a high-octane battle that lasted for two chapters. Maki joined the battle when Yuta gave her the signal, which was his domain breaking. As soon as that happened, Maki entered the fight and used her split soul katana to deal a deadly blow to the King of Curses. This was a blow that Sukuna could not foresee at all. Maki’s high level of athleticism and speed meant then she was easily able to sneak up on him and deal a blow so fast that Sukuna could do nothing but take it. From there onwards, the fight between Maki and Sukuna began, and it was clearly going to be one with incredibly fast action. Maki versus Sukuna continued with great intensity, and it saw Maki have the upper hand, at least in JJK chapter 252. In terms of both strength as well as speed, Maki had the upper hand.
This was not much of a surprise to the fans, given that Maki is an individual who possesses tremendous physical might. This is a result of her Heavenly Restriction, which fans have seen quite a lot of in the story already. According to Sukuna himself, the fight between Maki and him was extra special and one that he was looking forward to a lot. Even though Sukuna fought many powerful individuals after his battle against Gojo, this was the fight that he was looking forward to the most. This is simply because Sukuna was enamored by Maki and her incredible physical prowess, and of course, the fact that she managed to break through of the curse.
That in itself made Maki a worthy contender for him to fight and he certainly gave her his all in JJK chapter 253. Gradually, Sukuna started growing into the battle, and in JJK chapter 253, the battle was much more even than fans would have expected. It saw Sukuna, the King of Curses, showcase what he was truly all about, and he used his surroundings incredibly well to create openings and land blows on Maki. Eventually, Sukuna certainly did succeed in overwhelming her, and now, a decisive blow seems to have been dealt.
Sukuna Lands A Powerful Black Flash
In JJK chapter 253, Sukuna landed a powerful Black Flash on Maki. Black Flashes in JJK are not common. In fact, no sorcerer in the world of JJK can utilize the power of Black Flash at will. This power is very hard to control and only happens when one applies cursed energy to a blow in the 1 millionth of a second. Regardless of that, now, Maki has been dealt with a powerful Black Flash that has sent her crashing. For now, she will not be returning to the battle, and that in itself means that someone else has to join and take her place.
In JJK chapter 253, this person was revealed to be none other than Kusakabe, as there is no one else that can fight against Sukuna. It all falls on Kusakabe to hold Sukuna down in battle until someone else joins in. He certainly did not seem sure when he knew that he had to join the battle against Sukuna. Even Sukuna did not pay much attention to him. What’s funny is that even the narrator did not seem to believe that he was up to the task of fighting against Sukuna, however, he certainly has to do something here, and that is what fans are incredibly excited to see.
The beginning of the chapter certainly hinted that Sukuna and Kusakabe were going to fight. JJK chapter 253 actually opened with Kusakabe being hyped up as the strongest of the Grade One Sorcerers. In fact, even Gojo seem to believe that he is the strongest Grade One Sorcerer, and that in itself means that he certainly has some skills that he can utilize in the battle against the King of Curses.
Kusakabe Vs Sukuna
Kusakabe versus Sukuna will officially begin in JJK chapter 254. This fight is going to be very intense, given that Kusakabe relies on his swordplay in combat and that he does not possess any cursed technique. Despite not having a cursed technique, he was strong enough to reach the level of a Grade One Sorcerer, which is commendable, to say the least.
While he does not have a cursed technique, he certain can make great use of cursed energy. Kusakabe makes use of New Shadow Style while fighting, and he is great at using simple domains. For those who do not remember, simple domains are incredibly effective against Domain Expansions. When one takes into consideration the fact that Sukuna does not have his domain at the moment, it doesn’t seem like simple domain is going to be of much use. However, Kusakabe joining the battle might just be an indication of the fact that Sukuna has gained enough cursed energy to reestablish his domain expansion, and use it in battle once again. After all, fans have been told on many occasions that he will soon gain this ability once again.
Kusakabe Versus Sukuna should not be a long fight. In fact, fans should not be surprised to see this entire fight wrap up in one chapter. That is not to say that Kusakabe will get humiliated by Sukuna. However, it just means that he is likely to impress the King of Curses in one chapter and then be dealt a killing blow. Before he is defeated, however, fans should expect him to land a blow on Sukuna, or weaken him somehow. That is what every single sorcerer who’s fought him so far has done, and he has his role to play as well.
It is likely that he will accomplish this using the new shadow style, and that his role in the fight against Sukuna will end up proving to be very important for her, against all expectations. Kusakabe needs to hold Sukuna down until another sorcerer joins the battle. Perhaps, Maki will be looking to rejoin in the fight, and fans already know that Yuki is on his way as well. Until then, it is all up to him to hold down the King of Curses and attempt to take him down in battle.
