Jujutsu Kaisen is currently in the midst of one of the most exciting battles of all time, with Yuta Okkotsu fighting against Sukuna. Fans already know that Yuta fought against Sukuna once and lost the battle. However, this time around, things are different. This time, Yuta is in control of Gojo’s body, and with that, he has gained access to the Limitless cursed technique, along with the Six Eyes.
Yuta is stronger than ever before right now, and it is going to be incredibly exciting to see how he deals with Sukuna in the upcoming few chapters. However, at the same time, fans should also keep in mind that Yuta is on a strict time limit. Once the time is up, it will be interesting to see what ends up happening to him and of course, what the fate of Gojo’s body will be.
Yuta’s Time Limit
Yuta Has 5 Minutes To End His Battle Against Sukuna
When Yuta Okkotsu took control of Gojo’s body, he knew what he was signing up for. Before he even made the switch, it was clear to him that he only had 5 minutes to deal with Sukuna. Once the 5 minutes are up, nobody knows what exactly is going to happen to Yuta, including Yuta himself. There are three possibilities laid down by the author at this point in time. The first possibility is that once the 5 minutes are up, Yuta’s cursed technique will run out, and of course, he will die immediately. The second possibility is that Yuta will be able to maintain control over Gojo’s body for a slightly longer period of time, but slowly and steadily, he will start losing his life and die. The third possibility is that Yuta will go on to live in Gojo’s body forever, until the end of time.
My apologies! It seems I’ve underestimated you. I didn’t think you were capable of going this far…Okkotsu Yuta!
Any of these three possibilities could end up coming true, and fans do not know which one it is going to be. Given that Yuta is a character from the next generation that can also be considered to be the face of the modern era after Gojo’s loss in many ways, fans can, at the very least, hope that Gege does not kill him off. As such, the possibility of Yuta dying immediately shouldn’t be considered to be the primary one at this point.
Then, one needs to take into consideration the fact that Yuta will essentially get to live in Gojo’s body forever. While this is a big possibility, it is highly unlikely, because of Rika in the previous chapter. Rika is clearly still attached to Yuta and once the cursed technique runs out after 5 minutes, fans do not know exactly what will happen to Her. At the same time, Yuta’s body cannot simply be left unoccupied.
Of course, once again, anything could happen in this situation, but the best way for Gege to deal with the situation would be to create a special scenario, which no fan or character in JJK has even predicted. It is possible that after the time is up, Yuta can potentially return to his own body. This is down to the fact that JJK has already established the fact that the body and the soul are the same thing. As mentioned by Kenjaku, who has extensive knowledge of body and soul, both body and soul exist as one. The body is the soul and the soul is the body. As such, if the cursed technique runs out, Yuta could potentially return to his own body. The only thing that would keep this from becoming true is that Yuta’s brain would not be in his own body. However, if body and soul are the same thing and the soul information holds everything important inside an individual’s body, then, perhaps using help from the likes of Shoko, this loss can be mitigated.
Why Gojo’s Soul Could Still Be Around
Gojo Might Have Lost His Life But He Might Not Be Gone For Good
Just like Yuta’s body likely has his soul information and access to his soul as well, it is entirely possible that Gojo’s body has it too. Once again, the story has already established that the body and the soul are the same thing. This should also apply to Gojo as well.
Even though Gojo lost his life, his body should still have access to his soul. As such, once Gojo was healed completely, his soul should be able to take effect once again. This is somewhat similar to how Geto tried to rebel against Kenjaku in Shibuya. He clearly was present in his own body, even if it was in fragments. Something similar could be true for Gojo as well. If Yuta somehow returns to his own body and Gojo is left without a proper user, then, the possibility for his return opens up.
Yuta can only use his Copy technique for as long as Rika is fully manifested, which is 5 minutes. What happens after those 5 minutes are up?
Once again, one needs to look at the fact that the body is the soul and the soul is the body. The only one in control of Gojo’s body right now, and making it functional is Yuta, but when he goes, it is possible that Gojo’s own soul can take over, just like Geto tried to do it against Kenjaku in Shibuya. If that were to be the case, then, fans could see the grand return of both Yuta and Gojo at the same time, and that would certainly make for an exciting scenario in the upcoming fight in the story.
Yuta And Gojo’s Deaths
Yuta And Gojo Could Both End Up Dying In This Arc
It can be said that in many ways, Yuta and Gojo are now interconnected. If Yuta dies in Gojo’s body, then it is entirely possible that both Gojo and he will meet their end together. Gojo falling on the battlefield once again would simply mean that Ui Ui cannot recover his body anymore, and from there onwards, nobody can save him. Furthermore, the possibility of Yuta dying and Gojo coming back to life is one that fans should not even consider. It is either they both manage to survive, or at least Yuta does. The author will absolutely not bring back Gojo at the expense of Yuta, at the very least.
Still, the possibilities that fans have in front of them aren’t too good at this point in time. If Yuta dies after 5 minutes, then they’re both dead. However, if Yuta gets to stay in Gojo’s body forever, then fans have a completely new character, with Yuta’s old body, along with his connection with Rika, likely being severed forever. This is going to be incredibly sad for the story, and fans absolutely cannot wait to see if this will come true or not.
Taking all things into consideration, the best possibility for the author is certainly going to be to allow Yuta to return to his own body somehow, and Gojo’s soul, which should be present in his own body, especially after it has been fully healed, to take control as well. Gojo should be born anew, if he does indeed end up going North and severing the connection with his past. He would return as not the strongest but simply Gojo Satoru. Of course, this is still a far-off possibility in many ways, but it is a possibility that many fans should consider at this point in time.
Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263, is set to be June 30, 2024.
