  • Gojo fought with a handicap because Sukuna was using Megumi’s body and had special techniques.
  • Gojo would have had an advantage against Sukuna’s true form, as he wouldn’t have to worry about the 10 Shadows Technique.

Gojo versus Sukuna was certainly one of the most exciting battles in JJK that fans got to see in the previous year. It was, by far, the best battle of the series, despite the way it was handled towards the end being questionable. That said, the action that it delivered was nothing short of fantastic and fans thoroughly enjoyed this amazing battle.

Of course, in the end, Gojo ended up losing and died in the process. However, this battle could have gone very differently had Sukuna not had access to the 10 Shadows Technique. Had Gojo been in his true form, perhaps, the outcome of the battle would have been different.

Gojo Vs Sukuna In Megumi’s Body

The first thing that fans need to keep in mind while talking about Gojo versus Sukuna is the fact that Gojo was always fighting with a handicap in this battle. The fact is that Sukuna was making use of Megumi’s body and this was a handicap for Gojo in two ways. The very first way it was a handicap was the fact that Megumi himself is a very beloved pupil of Gojo and, regardless of what Gojo says, he could never have killed Megumi, no matter what. As a result, Gojo would always have to be careful about what he did and how he did it in the fight. The second biggest handicap in this fight came through Sukuna being given special techniques. He gained access to the 10 Shadows Technique through Megumi’s body and this was what ended up being the decisive factor in this amazing battle.

Not only did Sukuna utilize Megumi as a hostage in the fight against Gojo but he also made full use of his skillset, which fans already know is strong enough to be considered equal to a user of the Limitless, as confirmed by Gojo himself. As such, the battle was always skewed in the favor of Sukuna from the get go, especially when Mahoraga was brought into the equation. Had Sukuna not had these advantages, perhaps, Gojo would have been able to perform even better against him.

The Strength Of True Form Sukuna

While it absolutely cannot be denied that Gojo was fighting a battle with a handicap, Sukuna not being in his true form also aided Gojo in many ways. The first thing that fans need to keep in mind is the fact that Sukuna was not able to utilize the maximum potential of his powers due to being in Megumi’s body. Sukuna has four arms and two mouths and fans have already seen that come into play after he entered his true form. These four arms allow him to use signs all the while he is fighting and grant him a tremendous boost in combat. An extra mouth allows him to use incantations all the while fighting against his enemies and, for any sorcerer, this is a massive boost in battle. This simply allows Sukuna to use all his techniques at the maximum output and make them stronger than they would be otherwise.

That certainly isn’t all. Had Sukuna not had access to techniques such as Mahoraga, he would then not be forced to set aside his cursed technique for the adaptation process. Sukuna could easily have utilized much more lethal techniques in the battle against Gojo and, in a way, this would have been a massive advantage for him as well.

However, when taking everything into consideration, Sukuna still chose to rely on Mahoraga in the battle against Gojo, and that simply means that he believed that was the better way to go about it. This means according to Sukuna himself, having Mahoraga offered him a bigger advantage than not having him, which means that the battle against true form Sukuna would have been possible for Gojo to deal with, regardless of how fans interpret it.

Gojo’s Advantage Against True Form Sukuna

While Sukuna certainly would have had some advantages against Gojo in his true form, as discussed earlier, Gojo would have had some major advantages as well. For one, Gojo would not have to worry about the 10 Shadows Technique. The 10 Shadows Technique is largely downplayed in the series, however, it is clearly one of the most powerful techniques in existence.

In fact, Gojo himself confirmed that long ago in the past, a user of the 10 Shadows Technique from the Zenin Family was able to kill a member of the Gojo Family with both the Six Eyes and the Limitless technique. Both of them ended up killing each other and this is simply proof that these two techniques are on the same level.

Gojo has a powerful technique up his sleeve, thanks to the Infinity and his possession of the Six Eyes, however, Megumi’s 10 Shadows Technique is on the same level. This is something that fans need to understand. Had the 10 Shadows Technique not been in the equation, Gojo would not have to worry about the shikigami, or even be pressed into making certain moves due to Mahoraga. The biggest thing would be that Gojo’s Limitless would have been up at all times. Without Mahoraga, Sukuna could not have figured out a way to bypass Gojo’s Limitless or break through it. This would mean that essentially, Sukuna would have been left without a true opening to defeat Gojo. In the case of Gojo, this meant that he had a major advantage in the battle and would only need to wear out Sukuna even further, until he finally defeated him.

The Winner Of Gojo Vs True Form Sukuna

Fans need to keep in mind that a battle between Gojo and Sukuna would be extremely close regardless of which form Sukuna was in. When sukuna was in Megumi’s body, Gojo was almost able to kill him. In fact, had the Hollow Purple been launched from a closed proximity, Sukuna would easily have died and that is something that he confirmed himself. Similarly, a battle between true-form Sukuna and Gojo would have been extremely close as well. It could have gone either way and fans simply cannot answer the question of who would have won this battle. However, the fact is that Gojo would have been better suited to winning this clash than Sukuna himself.

While Sukuna could have had the advantage in domain clashes, Gojo was able to tank the strongest of his attacks and regenerate from them all. He only needed a few seconds to fry his brain and rid him of Malevolent Shrine and cripple him greatly with Unlimited Void.

Unfortunately, fans will never truly find an answer to this question. What fans know for certain is that Gojo and Sukuna are two of the strongest sorcerers in JJK and either can be considered to be the strongest of all time despite Sukuna winning the fight against Gojo recently.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 248, is set to be January 21, 2024.
