2023 saw the return of Jujutsu Kaisen. Fans have been waiting for the second season for quite some time, so they were overjoyed to see their favorite characters back in action. The second season of the anime covered two different arcs. Out of the two, it was the Shibuya Incident arc that stood out the most.
After the season ended, there was an announcement on the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the anime that revealed the series would return with the Culling Game arc. With the anime’s return imminent, there is a lot that fans can expect from Jujutsu Kaisen’s Culling Game arc.
6 Return Of Yuta
The Prodigy Comes Back
The Culling Game arc will see the return of Yuta. While most of the fans are aware of Yuta, there are still some who do not know about this particular character. He was introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, where he also served as the main character. The movie explained his past and his powers.
Yuta is an extremely talented sorcerer whom many believe to be the next Gojo Satoru. Yuta appeared towards the very end of the Shibuya Incident arc, and even in his short time, he managed to steal the headlines. Fans can expect Yuta to be heavily involved in the Culling Game arc and the third season in general.
5 Itadori In Trouble
The Hero Faces Execution
In the Shibuya Incident arc, Yuji lost control of himself after he forcibly fed him Sukuna’s fingers. Then the King of Curses went on a rampage and nearly destroyed the entire city, fighting Jogo and Mahoraga. To make matters worse, Pseudo-Geto managed to achieve an important milestone for his goal. Yuji and his friends even failed to save Gojo Satoru from being captured.
The events that took place in Shibuya forced the major governing body for sorcerers to take action. They forbade anyone from trying to rescue Gojo, as he was named a conspirator in the Shibuya Incident. Masamichi Yaga was put on the list of people to be executed. Finally, the suspension of Yuji’s death sentence was lifted, which meant that he could be killed. The group is trying to get rid of anyone who would help Yuji. Given the situation, Yuji is going to have to toil a lot to survive. This increases the overall stakes for the next season.
4 Longest Season To Date
More Episodes
The first season of Jujutsu Kaisen had 24 episodes in total, and the subsequent one had 23. However, the third season that will be adapting the Culling Game arc will have more than 24 episodes, making it the longest season of the anime to date. The third installment will not only cover the Culling Game arc but also Itadori’s Extermination arc and the Perfect Preparation arc.
The three arcs have more than 70 chapters, which is more than the source material for the first two seasons. Keeping this in mind, it makes sense for the next season to have episodes. The only way the anime is going to have the same or fewer episodes is if MAPPA decides to up the pace. However, it is highly unlikely that the studio will increase the speed.
3 Introduction Of Many New Characters
More Individuals To Liven Things
With both the heroes and villains suffering numerous casualties in the second season, it is obvious that the show needs more people to fill the void left by them. Many sorcerers died in Shibuya, so they will have to take extreme measures to ensure that the cursed spirits do not trouble humankind any further.
The Shibuya Incident arc saw Mahito and several other special grades meet their end. Obviously, the villains will also have to find more allies that will help them achieve their goals. The new characters will have interesting designs and personalities that will help draw the attention of the viewers. They will also have interesting powers, and that should make the fights much more interesting.
2 Many Exciting Fights
MAPPA Excellence
The new season of Jujutsu Kaisen will have more fights and drama than before. While it is going to be difficult for the studio to match the level of animation in the second season, it is unwise to count out MAPPA. The studio is known for surpassing everyone’s expectations, so the third season could be another masterpiece.
The Culling Game arc alone has 63 chapters, so there are going to be a healthy number of fights in the third season. MAPPA has beautifully animated every single fight so far in the series, and it is safe to say that it will be doing its best to recreate its magic.
1 End To Cliffhangers
Many Big Reveals
The third season of Jujutsu Kaisen is going to reveal many important things about the story. For starters, fans will learn whether Yuji is going to survive his planned extermination. Yuta is taking matters into his own hands after Yuji sliced one of Inumaki’s arms in Shibuya. Yuta is not a person to be messed with, and he is dead serious about killing Yuji. So, it will be interesting to see how the hero survives.
The next season will also cover the fate of Masamichi Yaga, the principal of Tokyo Jujutsu High. The people in charge clearly seem to have an agenda against certain individuals, which is why they want to get rid of them as quickly as possible. Since Masamichi is a sensible man, he poses a threat to them. With the anime adapting three arcs, it makes sense for the new season to touch on other important aspects of the story.
