Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 243 officially dropped earlier today and it is safe to say that this chapter has been nothing short of spectacular for all the fans. Finally, after weeks of focusing on the fight between Takaba and Kenjaku, this week’s chapter saw to it that this fight came to a conclusion.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Kenjaku’s Next Body, Explained
Kenjaku’s next body might be that of a beloved JJK character.
Fans had already predicted that this fight could very well end in this chapter and thankfully, that is exactly what happened. While this fight certainly was interesting in some ways, it didn’t live up to all the expectations that fans had and, at the same time, was largely uninteresting for the most part. That said, this chapter provided the perfect conclusion to the character arcs of Takaba and potentially even Kenjaku, as it upped the intensity towards the end when Yuta was seen involved in the manga as well.
Kenjaku And Takaba Perform
JJK chapter 243 focused on Takaba and Kenjaku performing live. Fans knew that these two would do live comedy when the previous chapter concluded and a stage was set in front of them. In this chapter, these two characters did exactly that and while it was somewhat interesting, it was largely confusing for the fans. Kenjaku and Takaba continued their comedy and, while fans did not thoroughly enjoy this part of the chapter, it was interesting to see that through this comedic act, the author gave fans glimpses into the lives of the characters of both Takaba and Kenjaku as well. Takaba revealed that it was his lifelong dream to see this audience in front of him and perform live. He finally got to live his dream and do it with a partner that he truly enjoyed being around in Kenjaku.
When it comes to Kenjaku, fans also found out quite a lot about his childhood. He mentioned his past with his mother and how he lived his early life as well as how that shaped him while growing up. It was certainly interesting to see the author take this approach to get Kenjaku to reveal stuff about himself and it certainly worked in some ways, however, this part of the chapter was largely about Takaba, especially because he would later go on to die a very fulfilling death. Takaba realized at the end of this comedic act that he had now fulfilled his dream and that it was time for him to pass away peacefully.
The Conclusion Of The Act
After Takaba and Kenjaku did live comedy in JJK chapter 243, Takaba realized that his time had come to an end. Finally, it was time for the play to conclude and, with that, Takaba would also go on to die. Sad as it was, Takaba realized that he did not want his bond with Kenjaku to end and, more importantly, he did not want to say goodbye to doing comedy. Fans got to see Takaba emotionally charged in the chapter because he knew the end was near and that was certainly interesting in many ways.
Jujutsu Kaisen Hints At Gojo’s Return As A Villain
Gojo Satoru will probably return as a villain in JJK.
At the end of it all, Takaba did end up passing and at the same time, the scene shifted to him being dressed in all white, similar to how dead people are dressed. Takaba lay down on the ground with a smile on his face, which signified that he lived a fulfilling life. Meanwhile, Kenjaku was certainly proud of Takaba at this point in the story. He was impressed by the character and how he fought against him, and was able to laugh honestly and this just went on to show that Takaba really did succeed in his goals. At the end of it all, Kenjaku mentioned that Takaba was a very funny guy, however, that is exactly where things started going south for him.
Yuta Okkotsu Joins The Battle
The most exciting part of JJK chapter 243 came towards the very end, when Yuta finally joined the battle. He took Kenjaku completely by surprise by sneaking up on him and then using his sword to chop his head off. Kenjaku tried to use the power of Cursed Technique Reversal: Anti-gravity to counter Yuta, however, he failed at doing this simply because Yuta was too fast and strong for him. Yuta succeeded in lopping his head right off and for good. Upon reflection, Kenjaku realized that the reason why he was not able to detect Yuta in the first place was because of Takaba.
Takaba’s technique sucked him in so much that he didn’t know what was going on around him and couldn’t sense cursed energy even if it was as great as that of Yuta.
Kenjaku then asked Yuta if this was his plan all along, to which he agreed. The plan was essentially to use Takaba as bait and drag Kenjaku in his technique and then have Yuta sneak up on him and end him for good. This plan worked flawlessly and Yuta wasted no time in killing Kenjaku. Of course, Kenjaku isn’t officially dead just yet. He was seen alive to some extent towards the end of the chapter. However, he will not be able to return to Geto’s body, and that is certain.
Kenjaku And Takaba’s Death
JJK chapter 243 ended with quite an ominous message from Kenjaku. Essentially, Kenjaku mentioned that he hates that he had to bow down before his final act and when he was so close to achieving all his goals and dreams. However, he believes that his will is going to be inherited by someone and that eventually, his goals will still come to fruition. Kenjaku hasn’t officially died just yet. Fans must remember that, at the end of the day, Kenjaku is just a brain and, as long as he isn’t killed with cursed energy, he is going to linger. Kenjaku certainly plans on getting away, however, that will need quite a lot of tact from him. Yuta could easily stab him with energy and kill him for good and if that happens, one of the biggest antagonists of the series will fall in what appears to be a very bizarre way.
However, it is highly likely that Kenjaku is plotting something, and that was confirmed in the editor’s note at the end of the chapter as well. As to what it is that Kenjaku is plotting, fans will have to wait and see. Perhaps, he intends to use some technique that he had up his sleeve for the worst-case scenario. Perhaps, he will find and take control of a new body. Whatever it is, fans will have to wait until next week to see what Kenjaku does next. The good thing is that the fight between Takaba and Kenjaku is finally over and the story can now move on to better things, such as Kenjaku’s escape, and, of course, Sukuna and his pending fight against the likes of Yuji and Higuruma.
The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 244, is set to be December 3, 2023.
