Anti-domain techniques are incredibly important in the world of JJK and that is simply down to the fact that these techniques can be used as countermeasures against the sure-hit attack of a Domain Expansion. While the best way to counter a Domain Expansion is by expanding one’s own, in many cases, that is not an option.
As such, coming up with and utilizing different anti-domain techniques becomes essential for survival. Over the years, fans have seen quite a few anti-domain techniques in JJK, however, only a few can be considered to be the very best.
4 Hollow Wicker Basket
Users: Multiple (Reggie Star, Ryomen Sukuna, etc)
Hollow Wicker Basket is an ancient technique and one that can be considered to be the predecessor of a simple domain. Essentially, Hollow Wicker Basket requires the user to make a specific hand sign, after which a spherical basket-like dome is formed around them. This barrier protects the user from the sure-hit attack of a domain expansion, making it incredibly important, especially for those who cannot expand their own domains.
However, it must be noted that this type of anti-domain technique does not work on non-lethal domains, and at the same time, on incomplete domains as well. It simply works to neutralize the sure-hit effect of a Domain expansion, and that is all. Fans have seen many characters utilize the Hollow Wicker Basket technique, starting with Reggie Star. He utilized this incredible ability against Megumi, however, failed at doing so. Hajime Kashimo also possessed this technique, however, he never got the chance to manifest it properly. At the same time, Sukuna, the King of Curses, is known to be an incredibly powerful individual capable of utilizing Hollow Wicker Basket. He was seen utilizing this power while inside Yuta’s domain expansion, so as to nullify the sure hit effect of the domain.
3 Falling Blossom Emotion
User: Naobito Zenin, Ogi Zenin, Gojo Satoru
Falling Blossom Emotion is yet another powerful anti-domain technique that is considered to be very rare in the world of JJK. This technique was developed by the Big Three Families and is considered to be a secret technique passed down only among them. Essentially, this technique differs from a simple domain in the fact that it does not create a domain to counter the sure-hit attack of a domain expansion.
Instead, it coats the user’s body in cursed energy with equal amounts of cursed energy required to retaliate against the sure hit effect of a domain expansion. As such, this technique can be considered to be unconventional. However, in most cases, it does the job.
Fans have seen different characters utilize this amazing ability, such as Naobito Zenin and Ogi Zenin. One weakness of this technique is the fact that it cannot prevent physical blows from landing, which can be its downfall in many aspects. Gojo Sato, the strongest modern sorcerer, is also a master of this technique and he accomplished it while he was still a kid. In his battle against Sukuna, he utilized this technique the second time his domain collapsed, and he was able to mitigate some damage from Sukuna’s slash attacks by making use of this amazing technique.
2 Simple Domain
Users: Multiple (Miwa, Gojo, etc)
Simple domains were specifically developed with the goal of countering the terrific power of the sure-hit attacks of a domain expansion. These techniques were kept a secret at first, however, others learned about their capabilities quite quickly and, as a result, they became rather common. Simple domain, as the name suggests, erects a small domain around the user which allows them to counteract against the sure-hit attack of the enemies’ domain expansion.
While in most cases, this technique is considered to be useful, against very powerful domain expansions, a simple domain can shatter rather quickly. That said, if used carefully, simple domains can prove to be a lifesaver inside of a domain expansion. There are also offensive capabilities of a simple domain that fans have seen on many occasions in the story, such as with the character of Miwa and many others.
1 Domain Amplification
Users: Multiple (Gojo, Sukuna, Higuruma, etc.)
Domain Amplification is, by far, the very best anti-domain technique that fans have seen in JJK. This technique, simply put, sees the user coat a thin veil of their own domain around their entire body and it works to nullify the domain expansion, as well as any other cursed technique that is launched at them. Of course, domain amplification usually does not protect the user from physical attacks, however, any technique that is charged with cursed energy can be neutralized.
One massive downside of utilizing domain amplification is the fact that the user cannot use their innate technique while keeping this active. As such, they are forced to rely on hand-to-hand combat while utilizing domain amplification. That said, skilled users can shift between the two as if they weren’t even restricted, to begin with.
